I gave this game many chances but sadly my final conclusion is that it sucks.
1. Unlike the original game this has no multiplayer. There are more than twice as many singleplayer levels but all of them play exactly the same.
2. The visual clutter is unreal. It looked concerning to me in the trailer but I wrote it off. Unfortunately it's just as bad in the game. From the moment you start the level you can barely see what's going on from the never-ending pixel clutter. I've tried tuning down graphics options from highest to lowest but I didn't notice any difference at all.
3. Gameplay is just boring and tedious. You must charge your shots for a fraction of a second every time. The game levels are like, "defeat 80 enemies". Considering that a lot of these shots miss (hi visual clutter), this basically means you need to press, hold, release your left mouse button a couple hundred times to win. It's not fun at its core, it's super tedious and nothing changes substantially from one level to another.
4. The game consistently mentions having lots of "characters". Those aren't characters, those are just cosmetic, 1-sprite skins.
5. There's an achievement for basically defeating every type of skin at least once (thus obtaining the skin for yourself). Problem is, you need to get them to actually spawn. Some do not appear until much later in the game leaving empty spots in you skin collection - and you have no idea if you missed them or if you should just play further. I've beaten half the levels and I think I actually may have missed 1 or 2 skins; trying to figure out where to find them now is a nightmare. On other platforms the solution to this was just buying the "all skins pack" for a dollar, no such workaround for the Steam version.

Fun game but really good do with multiplayer like on the xbox360.
From forum, looks like devs are working on it

Imagine Worms with real time battles rather than turn based ones,
and being equipped with only Bazookas and Jet packs for battle.
Throw in some explosions reminiscent from Lemmings;
You end up with Rocket Riot.
I played this when it first came out on the Xbox 360 and is good fun.
Multiplayer is sadly missing from this version but single player is still a hoot.

This game was one of my favorite hidden gems on the Xbox Live Arcade, so I was delighted to see it get a PC port. The PC port is basically the same game with more levels and campaign options, so if you bought the 360 version you won't be disappointed.
It's a charming and simple game where you blow up things with a rocket launcher, and the entire game uses pixelated characters and terrain (which is also destructible) in a unique enough way to make it interesting. Some of the levels are legit challenging but the game is not especially difficult. There's plenty of replayability with its additional campaigns and game modes, and the soundtrack is pretty cool too (though I much prefer the Xbox 360 version's menu theme to this one.) I find myself quoting the lyrics to the song (Rocket Riot Rocket Riot) from time to time around a good friend who also played this game.
Overall, I definitely recommend this game. It's not perfect (sometimes you die in a cheap way by getting blocked by something and firing a rocket isn't the most responsive 100% of the time), but still charming and interesting enough. Its main campaign is a bit short but it's pretty fun. I definitely prefered mouse controls to gamepad, it makes it easier to aim.

This game has that botched fresco of Jesus as a playable character. I can also play as a taco and a penguin, which automatically makes it a great game. Worth it for the character list alone. The music is also pretty catchy, and the game itself is really fun, too. Please buy this game so I'm not the only one on the leaderboard who's completed all of the levels in the game.

I desperately want to love this game, it was so fun to play back on the Xbox Live Arcade, but with no local multiplayer, what's the point? My brother and I would spend hours blowing each other up on the 360 but not being able to bring that experience back to my GF really sucks.
