I bought it for the stealth gameplay. I'm finishing it for the architecture.

GEE WHIZZ. I love this game! SERIOUSLY IT'S A BANGER! its like UNCHARTED, but stealth and some cool combat instead of shooting :) combat has good feeling to it although game is meant with mostly stealth in mind. as for combat when hitting theres nice punch to it, not darksouls level swordplay but its still pretty good, you feel how weapon connects with enemy and hits him! great AAA quality environments and overall vibe. story presentation seems like proper B-type movie level material which I personally love. GG. some side thoughts : combat feels chunky and satisfying which I didnt expect from a stealth game! my point here is : the more I play it the better it feels! it not just 'servicable', no - it feels REALLY GOOD (the combat). whats more, general gameplay is all about ninja-style assassinations of enemies and thats the core of the game actually (character takes just few hits before its dead, so stealth is the optimal route imo) and silent assassinations are VERY SATISFYING when you realize that you can be really creative in choosing from what direction to silently attack IN AN INCREDIBLY SEAMLESS MANNER! enemy AI is really good too. overall its as fun as STYX and any THIEF game really. stealth kills from around conrner, from behind, from above and from below. and it all works really sweet. game world consists of many interconnected arenas that are sort of stealth assassination SANDBOXES that can be dealt with pretty nicely, either in a senaky manner creeping begind enemies, or getting the from above and disappearing before anyone ticing you were there in a more dynamic manner. and I noticed that when dying I wanted to repeat for another run, so it as satisfying as in DARK SOULS in a way, where I died but it was fun to go again - and thing like that indicates that GAME MECHANICS IS DONE PRETTY WELL! this game really is a polished, well though and well designed GEM with FANTASTIC GAMEPLAY LOOP that I wasnt expecting to find.

Don't sleep on this game if you're a fan of stealth. Take it from guy who invested 20h into this game. I put it on my radar on it ever since the demo came out and wishlisted it immediately after completing it. I hardly ever buy games at release and I did for this one. That's how much I anticipated it so that should tell you something. On with the game, the atmosphere really caught my eye since the beginning. As a sci-fi fan the setting is the game strongest suit. Even though it's a post-apocaliptic story the Earth has healed after humanity had destroyed its ability to sustain life. With us gone machines have taken over and built industrial utopias imposible to make by human hands. One man has stored his conscience in 4 shards you must collect to bring him back and with him, the knowledge to restore humanity. That's where our protagonists comes in, a construct of machine and human conscience safeguarded to take on the task and well... unfortunately she's not great I gotta admit. She's a serviceable character at best and annoying at worst. She basically is given no depth as her memories of her once human life have been erased and her conversations are mostly with her hovering robot companion which emits beeps everytime she speaks so yeah, the only intelligent dialogues comes from her talks with Savi, the AI in charge of setting things in motion. Now the game can be devided in 3 gameplay sections:, stealth, combat and platforming. I'd say it's about a 80/20 split you'll be spending most of the time out of sight of enemies. I always take my time in these sections methodically taking out every single enemy on the map one by one. If this is something you enjoy doing you'll be well served here. When s**t hits the fan you must resort to combat, although much improved since launch I'd still advise to flee the scene if the odds of the ensuing fight are heavily against you. Hits now carry more impact both in audio feedback and actual damage dealt so you can hold your own and come out both satisfied and victorious from the few fight set pieces the game forces you into. There are upgrades you can buy but outside of a few gadgets for your drone I'd say most you can do without unless you want to completely trivialize every encounter but that's just the way I like to play, the whole point of upgrading is to make games easier in the first place just bear in mind they're not really essential for a successful playthough. Now what the game does poorly in terms of the platforming are the chase sequences. They're bad and there's no sugarcoating it. You'll jump and not grab on to whatever you're supposed to hold on to, jump out of time, not see the platform you need to fall onto, hover for too long and ultimately fall to your death, etc. They're eye candy, sure, but I ended up dreading every time my character started to slide and s**t started blowing up around me. Luckily, the devs are still polishing the game's rough edges and there's hope that this can be improved down the line just like combat has been. All in all is a great adventure, wonderful scenarios, great stealth sections, serviceable platforming, much improved combat and some surprising story twists in the endgame . I decided to write this, my first review, thoroughly trying to make justice to it since, sadly, the most negative "helpful" reviews here can only be considered first impressions and most positive ones are 1 or 2 lines long. I believe the story while not original does develop into its potential by the end and it hits the mark even in a few emotional instances despite the flatness of its main character and brings everything together to a satisfying conclusion. This is a compelling package that deserves the time of all gamers wishing to pick apart enemies unnoticed.

It is a very solid B-project and quite a good first game. There are so few stealth games nowadays, and seeing games like Ereban, Steel See, and the upcoming Styx 3 makes me happy that the genre isn't forgotten. The game still requires some polishing: in terms of optimization; registration of input (sometimes the deathblow icon doesn't show, sometimes Zoe doesn't grab the ledge, and other small issues); the fights aren't very precise, although the game demands precision evasion; face to face combat feels clunky and the fact that there are mandatory sequences with it makes it more visible. Challenges for upgrades can be extremely annoying and frustrating, and that is the reason why very few players have gotten them all. Until you upgrade Coby, the search for collectibles is not very smooth as well. Despite all that, I enjoyed stealth, enjoyed looking for collectibles, the art-style, and textures, parkour (although there are glitches with sliding segments when you jump over cranes or below running platforms), and it reminded me of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time trilogy and Prodigy times when they were good. The story is simple but solid. Hope to see a new project in the near future. Thank you for this game.

I played the demo to this game after last year's Summer Game Fest. This linear stealth-action game encourages both styles of play, as (unless there's an active turret) combat is just as viable as stealth, probably faster too. The graphical fidelity is impressive for a mere 40 bucks (to the point that my rating of playing on Steam Deck is "don't bother"). Side content isn't too overbearing, and partway through, you'll even unlock an upgrade that reveals the collectibles' locations. Came to leave this review after beating the game and getting the platinum at the same time. Worth your time, definitely worth a sale price.

I really tried to like this game but it just falls short of everything it attempts to do. It's a stealth - exploration - parkour game with awful combat that you're basically forced into because the stealth mechanics are "stand in this field and they won't notice you". They do. Then you're forced into combat and the combat system is straight up bad. You have some attacks you can combo into, but the cooldown for each swing makes combat feel clunky and slow and your attacks don't seem to do nearly enough damage in comparison how much the enemies are doing to you. The parkour aspect of the game is imprecise and frustrating as you attempt to climb or drop down or leap from handhold to wall. I can't tell how many times I've fallen to my death because - according to the game - I wasn't even near the handhold despite me basically hugging it. This game tries to be like Assassin's Creed with the stealth and the parkour but fails miserably as it is both imprecise and clunky. It detracts from the entire experience. The main character is Zoe and she is about as likeable as a brick. She's a cyborg for some reason and has a companion that communicates with beeps. Are those beeps helpful? Not in the slightest. The main antagonist is a robot on a murder spree. Why is it on a murder spree? No idea. It dislikes you for some reason. Steel Seed is all over the place and gets lost with what it is trying to do or tell. It's not a stealth game because the stealth system is straight up bad. The parkour is imprecise and frustrating and combat is clunky and slow and unbalanced. Steel Seed could've been good but it falls short because it tries to do everything all at once and falls painfully short of achieving neither.
