Very challenging and gives a new point of view on what it would be like to be blind

You can find a video of me playing this game here!
It is a rare view into the everyday struggles of blindkin and their adventures in hotels.

I enjoyed my time with this game! It was certainly a difficult challenge! Perhaps it could be a bit longer however.

An interesting, quick challenge for £1.59.
The game generates a hotel room for you, which you then have to navigate. A voice actor will tell you which area of the room you're in, and with this knowledge you have to map out the room yourself.
It helps to turn on the radio, as you can use the sound to gauge where other objects are.
Could do with having some options to tweak the sounds, considering you're going to be relying on them the most.

This game is just a black screen with random text alerts that appear, all using the Unreal engine. This didn't have to just be just a black screen with random text alerts that appear, all using the Unreal engine, though. The audio cues are minimal at best, and you don't need a single clue to actually finish the game. You could have been blind and deaf and still come out on top.
Seriously, I found half the objectives just by taking a few steps and finished the five of them (and thensome) in 5 minutes. Get a real sound engineer on board, flesh out the levels in the darkness a little better, even have difficulty options grading on various levels of vision imparement, and this could have been something a lot more enticing than a simple five minute romp with a broken achievement. Until then, the Stevie Wonder Simulator is less euseful than the Watch Paint Dry Simulator. That at least had some humor...

10/10 I felt blind. Mostly intellectually as I spent money on this 5 minute game experience.

the art style for this game is so unique that i couldn't believe it. ihad to take my time and breath because i was so wow'd by just the opening screen. when i was put into the room I really felt like a blind person. it was so emmersive and could definitly be implemented into games such as skyrim and other great RPGs. everyone is like "there needs to be differetn creeds"{. well i think there needs to be different types of blindness for equality. In my living day to day life i now close my eyes and prentend im in hotel blind.

This game is really a waste of money.
It is only one room with a small bathroom, where player must just press WASD to locate a few items and then press SPACE on each one to activate it. Then move to the door and it is game over.
Supposedly the item locations are randomized each gameplay, but they are easy to find in such a small room.
There are no visuals, except a text when an item it found and the game menu.
So expected the audio to deliver the most unique experience, but sadly it is not.
Only a woman's voice describing each item, which a text-to-speech would have done the job as well.
This game could have been made a lot better.
Walking through to hotel, staircases, elevator, hotel guest characters and some story line.
But it has nothing like that.

Hotel Blind is a game about what it's like to be blind, if you also lacked the additional senses of smell, taste, and touch. So it's pretty much nothing like being blind. The "gameplay" consists of staring at white text on a black background and slowly moving around a room using WASD, which in itself feels pretty uninspired and lazy. Overall, the "game" fails to actually be a game and feels more like you're doing nothing. I wouldn't even rebuy this game if it was free.

As someone who is legally blind this game intregued me. It had apparently been researched a great deal to ensure authenticity.
Load game up to be met by a completely unreadable menu .... Not a good start!
Two light colours together does not make for easy reading.
Clicking randomly and guessing a fair bit got the keys confirmed and started a game.
And what can I say ....
This is an insult.
Text descriptions of what you need to do ....
An inaccurate voice over system (Its correct the first time, but rather than saying you have already done something the second, third, fourth time you bump into the place holder it just repeats itself ad infanitum.
I did finish all the tasks in the room to find even the singular acheivement didn't work.
If you wish to replicate what this Dev believes being blind is, play your favourite game with your eyes shut and save yourself some money.
All I ask from the Dev is next time don't piggy back a disability in the hope it gets sales, you will only get away with it if you get it right.
This time you have failed.
Miserably.

UPDATE UPDATE: They have removed the new achievements as of this writing.
OLD UPDATE: They have recently added four new achievements, making the player complete 100 of these rooms in order to get all the achievements.......... AVOID THIS GAME LIKE THE BLACK DEATH!
This is what's considered a 'game' these days?
Horrible. Absolutely horrible.
It's just a black screen, no music, around 10 total text notifications, with brief stock sound effects.
Even with this minimal amount of 'gameplay', it's still frustrating; you tend to get stuck on objects in the room, and I guarantee you will sigh frequently as you hunt for the last thing you're supposed to do, just waiting for it to be over.
Speaking of the objectives, let's talk about those... you get a list of objectives that don't change each time, just the locations of these objects in the small, black room. They are boring things such as 'brush your teeth', and 'sleep', though why you'd need to sleep when you're trying to brush your teeth and seemingly get ready to leave is beyond me.
Now for the only positive this game has: the achievement. This game has one achievement, for finishing the short, short game (around 3-5 minutes), but even then you have to beat this nightmare twice in order to get the achievement, as it seems to be bugged the first time you complete the room.
So yeah, this is obviously someone trying to throw together the most minimal, bare bones of playability and put a two dollar price tag on it in hopes of making any amount of money that they can with this throwaway garbage. I'd say it's a scam, but it does function, just in the most basic way that would be embarrassing for even a student project. Trying to charge money for this heap is where I draw the line, however.
So if you simply MUST get this game, just to pad out your perfect game number, just make sure you idle it for over 15 minutes, so that it will count on Astats. And remember that the dev is laughing at you (and me) for purchasing this, while he sips on Cristal from his ruby-encrusted goblet.
