This game is yet another reason why I think Steam needs a neutral review option. The theme of the game is great and I love the campy 50s gee shucks angle of its twisted delivery and there's nothing else quite as ripe for satire as America's obsession with weapons. That all adds up nicely and the fact that it's on-rails doesn't take away from what they're doing.
edit: I had originally typed a somewhat lengthy review here about the repeating nature of the game and how that holds up over 3 hours and how that REALLY holds up at the end when the game is just blasting the same joke you've heard for 3 hours directly into your skull at max intensity.
And then I got the 'true' ending and then everything made sense. All of it. So I'll simply add that the non-sale price is a stretch but if they bring the 69% discount back anytime soon, definitely go for it.

I love the fact that this 'Murica Simulator was made by Australians and features Berettas and Lee Enfields.

American Dream left me with the impression that I was in the house of my uncle, who loves guns and has a huge collection. Even now, being retired, he invites me to shoot every time I come. The house is literally overflowing with weapons of different models and types. Personally, I didn't like the game too much, since I can always shoot live targets, but in virtual reality it was interesting as part of everyday activities. In reality, of course, this is impossible to do. However, the level of entertainment and involvement in the game was high. I recommend this game to anyone who is a patriot of American culture, gun lovers and anyone who just wants to have fun. Although the game is not a masterpiece, it is still a good game worth checking out!

Funny idea, bad execution. Also it's buggier than cyberpunk

I like basically everything about it except for the pacing. The narrations and scene/level transitions are, for me, unpleasantly slow. Enough so that I don't really wanna continue playing.
I enjoy the commentary it's making, I like the styling, the shooting is satisfying and the reloading is a neat mechanic. I just spent too much of my time waiting to be allowed to shoot things to really get into it. (Ironic, right?)

It's buggy and abandoned. Don't bother.

Starts out funny, gets quite boring. An overlong one-joke game that is more political lecture than game in any case. Try this, but don't persist past the point where the joke gets stale.

If you saw the trailer, thats a sped up version of the humor this game has to offer. It is very slow paced and doesn't add much additional humor. If the speaker talked twice as fast it would probably be an OK game.

I was looking for an FPS VR game to play in a very small space (I'm in a dorm room), and this game exceeded spectacularly. I played the full campaign, which took me about 3 hours, and enjoyed every minute of it. I liked the humor and satire it provided, and for the most part enjoyed the shooting mechanics.
I say most part because the "hand-gun" was a little buggy sometimes, and the springfield sections were difficult because of VR rifle precision (think playing competitive COD on the wii).
I think the game is definitely worth the price, and don't see what other people are complaining about. If you wanted a 60 Hour VR game, go play Skyrim or Fallout. It's pretty much up to you. If you think it looks good, buy it. It's a good game, and for $0.11 a minute, it beats any carnival shooting gallery I've played.
Good luck, have fun.

The game's just too wordy. It feels like most of the time is spent with the dog just telling you what this scenario is about and what the next thing you should use your gun for is. I guess the basic idea is too unintuitive to just let the player figure things out but when every scene feels like it needs more time for introducing its logic than it actually takes to play then it's more of a lecture simulator than anything else. The lectures include a lot of 'mericuh type humor but it's too one-note. Doesn't help that the wooden cutout characters require narration to explain what their movements are supposed to be.
They say the most important part of humor is timing and well, the timing's all off in this game.
