Had a lot of potential and can be fun in brief instances but falls into the same trap as far, far to many mediocre indie tiles by trying to difficulty gate it's limited content to extend playtime. Like many indie procedurally generated "rogue likes", it isn't novel, interesting or fun enough to warrant any kind of progression system or the time it demands to enjoy all that it has to offer. Only being able to shoot in 8 directions is an either stupid or incompetent design choice in a game that goes out of it's way to demand hyper reflexes for the sake of arbitrary difficulty. Combat in general feels very underdeveloped as ranged attack builds (even if hindered by poor targeting) are superior because at least you can keep your distance from the bad combat system. In summary, it's a procedurally generated, lo-fi, side-scrolling action game that is more difficult then it deserves to be with responsive controls, very little depth, unfulfilling progression systems, sometimes cheap damage/deaths and everything in it is mediocre (nothing is particularly novel or exceptionally well done). Worth a dollar. Not 10. Portal wasn't a great game in spite of only being a few hours long. It was great precisely because of it. "Brevity is the Soul of Wit."- William Shakesman

This game is just too hard for me. I've played for 20 hours and haven't gotten past level 7 yet. Something just isn't clicking here. Anyway, the base gameplay is fun. I'd say give it a go if the trailer/gameplay footage appeals to you.

-My Verdict (10‑Hour Perspective) -What I love: * It's chaotic, colorful chaos done right. * Loot and randomness add surprise and replay value. * Meta progression and unlocks keep me coming back. -What gives me pause: * It can feel unfair or punishing if RNG isn’t kind early. * The difficulty and no-save structure demand time and focus. * Some runs feel more frustrating than fun. -Personal Score: 8 / 10 It’s compelling, addictive, and full of small victories—even when you die. It rewards learning, persistence, and sometimes sheer luck.

Caveblazers is a brutally fun 2D roguelike platformer that throws you into procedurally generated dungeons packed with traps, enemies, and loot. You explore, fight, and scavenge to survive. Another game that is literally made for the Steam Deck (OLED)! I’m having my fun with Caveblazers, but fair warning: this game is tough! Tough, tougher, Caveblazers! The difficulty is no joke — expect to die a LOT as enemies hit hard and hazards are relentless. Unlike other roguelikes like Hades, the permanent buffs here feel less impactful, so every run leans heavily on your skill and a bit of luck. This makes victories satisfying but can feel punishing for casual players. The steep challenge might deter some, especially since mastering the game demands patience and precision. Still, it’s oddly addictive. The daily challenges are a great way to test your skills, and even if I’m not sure I’ll 100% complete it, I keep coming back for “just one more run.” If you love a hardcore roguelike and don’t mind the grind, you will have lots of fun. Highly recommend for masochistic dungeon divers lol.
