Warning: Broken Game! This game has design/implementation defects that will render this unplayable for many gamers. The game assets do not render properly, the game environment simply doesn't display and thus cannot be played.
Roadworks Simulator was a 2016 job simulator (like Euro Truck Sim, Farm Sim, Warehouse Logistics Sim etc) but with roadworks and pothole fixing as the theme. Whatever, some people like job simulators (look how well Car Mechanic Sim games are going), but this is just garbage, because it's fundamentally broken as stated in the warning above. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the mid 2000s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. It's broken (I did mention that already but it can also be mentioned here in the technical defects section). These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 4 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Unethically, the developers have left this on the Steam store in an unplayable and broken state. This is harmful to Steam and to gamers, because it takes a share of the marketing space and visibility away from other games. It's polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuine games and for genuine indie developers who put months or years into making proper games find an audience. The developer is deliberately and unethically trying to scam gamers into paying them the comically over-optimistic price of $3 USD for a game they know is broken. Don't give it to them.

Had no idea what I was doing, then glitched out of the whole city while still riding the jackhammer. It was magical.

The store page mentions "Unpredictable obstacles & Technical defects". After a pinch under two hours, I think they meant bugs. They sure did well putting those in Roadworks Sim. RS crashes during jobs, between jobs, and even in the controls menu. Attempting to play it at any setting above Simple sees text become unreadable gibberish and no jobs loading. Out of 16 total missions, I managed to complete 4 and get roughly halfway through 5 before it died for good. I know a few people that own this, apparently. Haven't played it yet? Don't bother.
