Absolutely unplayable. Even on lowest graphics settings WD2 crashes every 2min. Couldn't even get out of the first tutorial area. Maybe it's a problem with newer hardware. Running it in compatibility mode didn't fix it. It made me be able to finish the tutorial but then the skyline flickered and the game crashed again. Classic Ubisoft game

Don't bother buying it even for 2 dollars. It will run like cheeks and probably make every epileptic have a moment due to the flicker mess the game is since both nvidia and ubisoft either can't or won't fix the issues. (Nvidia can't. Ubisoft straight up said no, they won't fix it.)
♥♥♥♥ you too Ubisoft.

way better than watchdogs 1 in so many ways! The hacking and the gameplay is so much better.
buy on a sale and do not pay full price for this though, it's on sale all the time so just wait on that.

One of my favorite childhood games, and im glad to see it have a spike in attention. It ended up being a really freakishly accurate representation of the real world now, with companies like Flock and Palantir. F*ck Flock, f*ck Palantir, and f*ck the surveillance state.

Worth playing but its not a 10/10 game by any means. I feel like it tried to be both safe, and outrageous in spots at the same time and it kinda damages the identity it wanted to give off to gamers. The irony for this game is storyline wise it feels more relevant to the real world then ever in ways that if the game released today reviewers would pan it for being too "on the nose." But it came out almost 10 years ago so that doesn't apply.
Some of my big Pros:
-You don't have to "kill" people necessarily. You can stealth objectives, stun them, air shot them as options.
-Hacking opportunities in the real world environment allow for fun ways to engage with car chases or enemy pursuit, or creating real general awesome chaos!
-Simply picking up a new weapon makes it accessible/purchaseable. And side objectives like grabbing money bags or skill points, once you have them even if you die you will keep them.
-This game understands how to implement set pieces. I will not go into it more due to spoilers but there is some really cool things here.
My biggest cons:
-There's no way to consistently turn off the online missions that appear on the map. You can, after each mission or event, manaully go to the map and turn the slider to "off." If you choose to do one of these endlessly populating missions, itll ask you if you don't want to do coop while searching for a partner. You hit no. After completing the mission, it will then reopen your game world to any player searching. This ignores every setting in the menu that says "don't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ do that" (of which there are MULTIPLE). The solution is to do the mission, complete it, manually drop out of the online mode. Or my earlier suggested method, or to pull the ethernet plug. As a steam user, that last one shouldn't have to be the answer.
-The ending absolutely falls flat.
-The cringe factor at times of Deadsec when they are reaching out to the general public in recorded scenes kinda undermines what they say at times regardless of how real and necessary to be taken seriously it is.
-Side antagonists/characters/factions are created, and then dropped and you have nowhere to go with your feelings. Even with the DLC missions, you end up with your hands holding nothing going "so we're not dealing with this, huh?" And that leads into my next problem of:
-the main character, feels like the game always wants to go "alright so you can take a step too far, but we'd never do that (despite explicitly or implicitly doing so). And this causes a bit of disfunction with those extra characters and factions in how they are portrayed. And it does get a bit annoying how the characters with the main, and around him, will build up contentious points and then just drop them with no warning. It is a very slapped together affair.
This is a very solid 6-7/10 game depending on how you view things. You could spend a couple afternoons and get through it and be...accepting of what you played? I was satisfied overall. But there's too many ball drops to ever guarantee any one person playing this will feel the same way. Take a chance on a deep steam sale, maybe with a friend to speed things along in the aformentioned cooperative online missions. But this is a in between game. You play this when you feel nothing else is going on. Not a priority.

WARNING FOR ALL PEOPLE BUYING THIS DURING THE SUMMER SALE
the game is BROKEN. there is constant sky flickering that cannot be fixed with any of the in game settings. no matter what you do it'll always be there. NO it isn't your gpu. NO it isn't your drivers. it's just ubislop not fixing one of their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ games.
luckily, there is a way to fix this flickering yourself. it does require downloading a few things and changing a few core game settings, but it doesn't require extensive pc knowledge. i'll link the guide that personally helped me and seems to be the only true fix to the issue https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3258473119
DO NOT BE FOOLED. it will look like you have escaped this issue during the tut, as the flickering will be very mild or not even there, but once you load into the main game it'll be all you see.
gameplay is actually hella fun and it's a cool concept, but don't buy this game if you don't want to spend an extra five minutes tweaking some settings you shouldn't have to worry about because the devs are lazy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
small edit: luckily according to a few of my friends that use amd gpus, they do not seem to have an issue at all with this flickering. i suppose this is mostly a warning to nvidia gpu users.

Ubisoft's launcher is so bad. I couldn't even create an account because of some technical issue. When I finally managed to make one, it got suspended because of too many login attempts. What a joke.

Did you know that if you buy an Ubi game on Steam and then at a later date decide to close your Ubi account (or it gets shut down because their systems are scattershot at best), you lose all access to the game - you don't even get the option to register a new Ubisoft account and move it across. Ubi decides you no longer own the game you legally purchased from an independent retailer, and that's it.
That seems.. illegal? In any case, my impulse sale buy just got refunded. Ubi needs to go the way of the dodo.
[e] Well this review took off, lol.
It gets better though; it turns out the game has an offline mode, where you can disable the anti-cheat and play as you like - but even the offline mode still requires an Ubi account and that you login with their launcher. You have to be online and logged in to Ubis servers to play your offline single-player game.
It's all very anti-consumer, and indefensible - though a few people have tried!
& FYI, I closed my account after it was accessed from another country, after being dormant for several years and despite the fact I have two factor authentication enabled. Ubi refused to explain how my account was compromised, so having no faith in their security, I closed it.
