Frustrating, but rewarding; the way games used to be before exploration was reduced to a series of yellow paint smears.
Short, but impactful; the way games used to be before story was reduced to a series of fetch quests.
Simple, but effective; the way games used to be before gaming was reduced to line items on a balance sheet.

Olha, por mais que seja um jogo razoavelmente curto, é bastante criativo, mesmo com graficos pixelados e fisica duvidosa.

Biblically accurate ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ purgatory, perfectly polished indie game, that relies on few awesome mechanics, Im definitely not done with this game yet. You get 5-15 hours of unique and addicting gameplay for $3, this game IS worth it.

A great and at moments very tense game. Highly recommend playing on nightmare mode!

The main mode and nightmare were pretty simple, but the grappling hook physics are honestly among the best (probably *the* best) I've ever seen in a game and it has been a blast to learn the limits of it. Haven't touched inverted mode yet but the first kiln map has been a fun challenge so far. Well worth the price. +++ bonus points for doomed yuri.

Nails the atmosphere and tone. It also does not waste your time by artificially padding out the experience. Well done on the game!

PLEEAASSEEE
PLEAAASSEEEE
PLEEAAAASSEEEEE Expand this into an actual, full on game. This grappling mechanic is incredible, the game feels snappy, controllable, and great.
The monster is mortifying, it is super quick, and is super threatening.
The "vibe" is completely perfect, absolutely top notch stuff.
PLEASE, For the LOVE OF GOD make this into a big, fat game with more stuff. I really hope this is sort of like a tech demo, a test for this grappling mechanic, so we can get an amazing, great game.

Idols of Ash is an interesting little game, about exploring a huge underground Superstructure and reach the bottom alive. And there is the main appeal of the game, the Superstructure and exploration of it. It’s vast, and deep, and a wrong move can mean your end.
The core gameplay rotates around the only tool you have, your grappling hook, which you can use to climb down ledges, or stop falls, and swing while hanging over an abyss to increase your jump distance to a potentially save platform.
On the way down you’ll find a couple of Shrines which work as your Savepoints if you die, and also some orbs for healing if you take damage from falling.
Now you wonder, why does the game have the Horror tag, and it is because of the one enemy in the game, a giant centipede that slowly but steadily follows you on your way down and tries to eat you, which honestly is terrifying.
Thankfully, since the release of Idols of Ash, the dev added a Sandbox mode which lets you disable them, and you can explore the Superstructure on your own without getting stressed from getting eaten if you are to slow, which is an amazing addition for the players under us, like me, who just enjoy the exploration aspect.
If you are a fan of superstructures and exploration, I can absolutely recommend Idols of Ash to you, if you are looking for a deep Story or complex gameplay, then you should probably skip this one.

10/10 I literally cannot think of another game that gets grapling hook physics so right. If they add workshop compatibility and a level editor I would literally pay 10x for the game because I KNOW people could use the physics in the game to make just endless new levels.
Having said that, I did also enjoy this as a short melancholic descent into grief and giving up everything for Just One Last Moment with the one you love
Finally, ♥♥♥♥ that centipede it is a genuinely scary enemy, The way it just shows up from some unexpected angle and hunts you down makes me actually jump irl when it shows up it's so good
