Classic RTS that you could also just enjoy as a world builder

A Real Time Strategy (RTS) game with Role Play (RPG) elements: you create a hero character who follows you through missions, gaining points to put into a skill tree dependant on their race and class. Troops also gain experience and the strongest left alive at the end of each mission can be chosen to join your heroes' retinue. Heroes created in campaign can be used in skirmish mode and multiplayer. During the campaign, while you start as a particular faction, missions will improve or worsen your reputation with other factions allowing you to chose them for missions once you become allies (or locking them out if they're enemies). Useful key binds: Game speed can be changed using the - and + keys from "very slow" to "very fast", pausing must be done from the menu though. Pressing "a" before moving will initiate attack move. Spells can be bound to keys by going into the spell book and hovering over the spell with your mouse and pressing the function keys (F1-F12) Set up to play with compatibility mode (Windows XP Package 2); this will get rid of most of the problems with running the game on newer systems (or at least drastically reduce them)

Run it with compatibility mode windows XP. DO NOT alt tab out at all or it will break. Note, it freezes up after the completion of every mission or exiting campaign, BUT this is temporary just wait. I have read DO NOT make iron man heroes they corrupt all your hero data (unconfirmed personally)

My 1st and best series of real-time rpg is the Warlords: Battlecry series. I love it and have for over a decade.

Please Help!!! i bought this game yesterday, and it only let me play at Chapter one (Sundered Isle) again and again over and over? Does anyone have the same problem?? And i cant even save game at all. Any help please???

Literally unplayable in modern computers. Don't bother.

This is an hidden gem of an old school RTS-RPG that I never knew existed and pleasantly surprised me. The graphical style is gorgeous fantasy medieval art style with no modern junk, the music is epic, there are many cool mechanics like active pause to issue orders and a quite deep implementation of units, items and stats, combined with many distinct factions and spells. It is basically an improved version of Warcraft 3 with more depth and more serious tone meaning also more challenging at times in a very positive way. The game speed can be adjusted so you don't have to be an apm machine to enjoy it, there is an HD mod to use higher resolutions and an overhaul mod here on Steam called The Protectors of Etheria that adds tons of stuff and makes the game even more interesting.
