Firstly, I wish it didn't crash so much. It couldn't keep me from the adorable art style of the foxy fox and the cute forest animals though. Purrrrrr~ ♡

In the developer's vision, people will keep playing this, so it does not have or need a quit button.

There is nothing much about this game, i got this in a sale and played about few hours, it kinda relax and a bit fun.
All of it content and playstyle you can see in the trailer. As for me, i found it worth it cause i got this only for few cent and the trading cards are quite cheap. So yup i came here for badge only.
In overall this game is nothing special. I will give this 5.5/10

Review:
I definitely enjoyed it and for me it's about a 7 out of 10 I'm not sure it's worth 4.99 definitely worth 2.99, but if the creator updates some things in it could easily be worth the 5 buck price point when not on sale. Start with suggestion critiques first and will move to what I like later in the review. Having a restart check point button on the controller if there is one I didn't find it and having to click move mouse off screen while using controller hurts the flow of playing through the game. A score system would be nice since the apples don't have a huge impact in the game as they are now unlocking the foxes almost gives you enough apples to unlock them. The slow down button is cool, but a speed up button would be really sick as well for maybe a higher score if you implemented a score system. Having the foxes you unlock have different attributes would be sick as well to give you a reason outside of cosmetics to unlock/play them i.e. faster movements higher jump maybe take a hit for free just some ideas. Achievements! Should really be part of the game to add replayability and give the player something to shoot for while playing through I'm not sure why that's not a thing yet. Stage 20 check point does not work if you die after it you go back to stage 19 not a big deal just thought I would mention. There's a ton of stages per world maybe making some of the stages longer and more difficult to remove the more mundane parts of the game it's hard to focus during. Things I liked about the game the art style is super cute and the music is really good throughout super relaxing jams per world. The game plays well and I really like that the creator implemented a slow down mechanic to play through obstacles that doesn't insta kill you to the hands. This game is definitely one of the better versions of the google chrome crash dino running game I've played, but could definitely be improved still. Overall I do recommend the game.
Overview:
'Red Fox and the Four Seasons' is a platformer runner game where you run through 4 worlds each depicting one of the four seasons of the year hence the title. Similar to other games such as 'Bit Trip Runner', 'Muse Dash', and if you really want to go back, there was also a flash game called 'Leo Steel', 'Red Fox and the Four Seasons' follows the same concept of traversing through levels by running without the ability to stop. Each following level being seamlessly transitioned into the game, the level only really ending once you reach the end of the world (or in this case, when the season ends). Throughout your playthrough you'll run into many various hazards and enemies which you'll have to avoid while at the same time trying to collect as many apples as you can. These apples are used to buy costumes for the red fox that also have their own perks and bonuses.
The story goes follows: You're a red fox that has woken up from a dream about a magical crystal that supposedly gave foxes who wore it magical powers that helped them regulate and maintain the weather (hence the seasons). This crystal had since disappeared for so long it became a myth and eventually turned into somewhat of a fairy tale passed down to children. The red fox however sees a glimpse of these crystals and their potential whereabouts and sets off to confirm their existence and maybe discover more about them and their powers.
Sounds unique enough right? Well unfortunately, the only time you're even informed about the story is if you read the description on the store page. No where else in the game does it mention anything about the story or what the fox you're playing as is doing. The story option in the main menu only tells you a very vague idea of the plot and if anything it confuses the player rather than fills them in. And beating the final level just kicks you back to the title screen with no ending or conclusion in sight. It's like the game didn't have a story to begin with and something was quickly fabricated and thrown in in an attempt to give the game some meaning. But if the story is barely if not absent in the game, what's the point of a having a plot?
Gameplay:
Sadly there isn't too much on the table here. In fact, the table is kind of breaking. Meaning that the game is well... kind of broken. There's not much to say in terms of gameplay as it's extremely simple (even the developer states the game can literally be played with one hand). The only controls are jumping and moving backwards when needed. There's nothing else going for the game and although it supposedly has lengthy levels as well as bonus ones, they get rather boring quickly. The levels feel repetitive and stretched out despite the game adding in new types of hazards as you progress. And since the levels transition between each other seamlessly, it really makes you wonder when each phase is going to end. But that's the least of it.
As I've mentioned, the game is broken in the sense that the game will randomly crash at times without warning or notice. Surprisingly, the developer already knows about this issue and added instructions on how to fix it in the help menu as opposed to just fixing it themselves. I have never heard of anything like this happening in any other game but since my game was essentially conked out, I had no options but to try it. So in short you have to access the file directory for the game and run it in compatibility mode in order for the game to well, not crash. My guess is that the game was originally made for Windows 8 (according to the compatibility troubleshooter) so it doesn't bode very well with operating systems running Windows 10.
This can be done by following these steps:
1. Open your 'Steam' folder from whichever hard drive you put it on (Local Disk C:/D:/etc.)
2. Find and open the "steamapps" folder
3. Locate and open the "common" folder
4. Look for this game and double click the game folder and look for the application itself (In this case a black box that says "Red Fox") and right click it (make sure to click the application so it's selected before right clicking).
5. Click properties and go to the "Compatibility" tab and run the compatibility troubleshooter (it should be the first option)
6. It will then give you 2 troubleshooting options to pick from, click "Try recommended settings" then click "test the program".
7. The game should be crash free now.
Although this does fix the crash, it baffles me that the entire ordeal had been laid out like this. Was it too hard to fix or was it just not possible?
There's a world map you can view where you can pick which level/season you want to play but here's the thing, the bonus levels for all the worlds are already accessible which I'm fairly confident was not intended so you can just explore these levels at your leisure despite not beating the level it represents. Even if you play the game normally, you'll end up playing these levels anyways so I suppose it's a good way to farm and rack up apples if you want to buy all the costumes in the store.
The overall game itself is fairly easy and is very lenient when it comes accuracy. You're able to double jump in the game and in most games, in order to get your double jump back, you have to touch the floor again. In 'Red Fox and the Four Seasons' however, even if you touch the side of a platform, you recover all your jumps (even your initial one). Running off the side of a platform also doesn't take away your first jump either so technically you end up having two jumps in mid-air rather than just one. It's very forgiving and the window for correcting a mistake is extremely big.
Controls:
Jump and move backwards. That's quite literally it. As I've said, the generous amount of leniency this game gives the player makes the controls extremely easy to use. I have no complaints here simply because the controls are deathly easy to use and I'm pretty sure this type of game is meant for families, specifically the children.
Graphics:
Very simple and somewhat cute but not impressive. The style alone feels like you're playing with a bunch of stickers on a flat board but at the same time the art resembles works of watercolour paintings. It's not a bad look per se but it gets old pretty quick because a lot of things are repeated.
Audio:
I'm kind of in the middle when it comes to the audio. On one hand, the music is fairly nice but it keeps repeating each time you switch menus or restart a level. It gets gruelling after a while and makes you want to mute the music even though it isn't even that bad. Sound effects falls far shorter compared to the music as there aren't many of them. There also isn't an option to adjust volume levels, it's either on or off which is a huge pet peeve of mine especially since most games made in this cheaper manner have volume at an outrageous level, a volume meter is mandatory for these types of games. Another thing that grinds my gears is the setting option for audio isn't just on or off. It also applies to both sound and music. What if I don't want the music or vice versa? There's no way to customize sound, it's just on or off.
Conclusion/TL;DR:
'Red Fox and the Four Seasons' is a runner platformer where you play as a fox running through all seasons of the year in search of a magical crystal that helps regulate the weather. With easy to use controls and extremely lenient game mechanics, 'Red Fox and the Four Seasons' is a game catered more towards the younger audience and is a family friendly game. How does it fair for the price tag? To be honest the game isn't bad, but it gets old fast. For a dollar or so, it could be worth it, but you'd have to really like this type of game to justify that price tag. For me however, it isn't worth it although it was a bit a of fun.
