Note this is a review of the aiming system since I cannot physically play the game because it's so bad and before some one makes the argument that "the game is old" counter strike and halo both came out before this game and there is no issues with aiming in those at all hell look at the original Doom. It has perfect aiming and you can't even look up or down in that: The game has it's own aiming system and does not rely on raw mouse inputs. If you move your mouse too fast the crosshair goes slower than intended and vice versa if you start moving your mouse slowly it goes faster than you intended. You cannot aim consistent in any way shape or form. I can't even look at enemies fast enough to shoot them even if I whip the mouse. I've looked online for fixes and they say to use the configuration tool to set the inbuilt aiming to 0 so the game only uses raw input. This still did not work. It's like the game has mouse smoothing but on steroids. Never have I played a FPS where I feel like I have to fight the controls just to aim and shoot at an enemy. It's unplayable.

Overall, I liked the game. It has tons of problems, but it was kind of fun. The first few missions are so boring that you will want to quit, but thankfully I kept going. I guess it's the environment. It's so bland and generic there, plus your standard rifle is complete garbage. But then the scenery changes when you get up to the ship. That is where the game started appealing to me and when you start fighting Chaos. So yeah, I would say I liked it(but I'm a fan of WH40k and I like older shooters, so take that with a grain of salt). This doesn't mean the game is good, though, from a technical standpoint. What the hell is up with the hitboxes? It's almost impossible to hit most of the larger enemies because the projectiles just go straight through them even when you aim for the head or upper torso. This game really wants you to hit them right in the center for some reason. Very janky and annoying, especially since most of the time your heavy ammo is so precious. Some bosses are extremely bullet-spongy, even on medium. Like the final one? Jeez. The checkpoint system is pretty bad too, which makes me dread playing it on the hardest difficulty, especially since the game is so janky. Sometimes the game just puts you right back at the beginning after major progression. Why? Also, as you progress, you will be blocked by Chaos seals (or whatever they are), so you can't progress until you kill the enemies. Fair enough, many games do this. But here, if you go close to them, you instantly get killed. So I definitely died a few times because the seal spawned right on top of me as I was trying to go through the door. These unavoidable (for first-time players) insta-kills are extremely annoying with the before-mentioned poor checkpoint system. The audio is straight up bad. I made recordings with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ radio on cassette tapes as a kid, and they had better sound quality than this game's voice-overs (except the cinematics, they are fine). Some sound effects are completely missing too. I play a lot of older games, so I'm used to the jank (in fact, some of my favorite games are filled with bugs, glitches, and terrible mechanics), so I can forgive these, but others probably can't. Can't say I blame them.

Terrible port with a very crispy deep fried audio and an awful set of checkpoints. The only enjoyable part is the W40K settings. Avoid at all costs unless you really enjoy having a tinnitus.

2/5 Only play it if you're interested in the game as a historical artifact. +First 40K shooter game +Pretty cool world and enemies +Tau protagonist -Can only change settings in the launcher, requiring restart. This includes mouse sensitivity -Bad gunplay, bad crosshairs, and no indication if a weapon hits with some weapons and enemies -Very janky hitboxes -Enemies will spawn by teleporting behind you

If you are a Warhammer Fan who always wanted to play this game once like me then go ahead. Otherwise you can stay away from it. It doesn't offer anything catching or spectacular. Story is ok. Graphics are old school because the game is old. Runs on Windows 11 without any problems. Controls are acceptable, but in the beginning aiming was a pain in the arse. Some gameplay decisions towards the end really got me frustrated. Spawning enemies directly behind you or in your face while they wield a rocket launcher is kinda stupid. And that happend more than I have fingers an my hands (the normal count). But all in all it is way less frustrating than Boltgun.

Definitely not a good game, I've had a weird fixation on it though both as a child and sort of recently. I like the tau, they're neat, but they do not save this from being miserable lol.

Strongly do not recommend. The beginning and middle of the game are really simple, if a bit slow, fun but the last third against chaos is pure agony. Checkpoints are placed way too far apart and fights as well as the transition between them are drawn out to an unbearable degree while you fight the same three enemies ad nauseam. For illustration: You walk into an obvious arena. Nothing spawns yet. You go to the exit of the room. The exit is then blocked, not by a barrier mind you, but by a zone of instant death, sending you back to the last checkpoint if you even try to smell it. You turn around and wait for enemies to spawn. You fight said enemies after a while. You wait. A second wave spawns shortly after defeating the first. You fight them as well. You wait. The barrier of instant death disappears. You go through to the next room. Repeat. If you want to "see what old warhammer games were like" like I did, just watch a walkthrough on Youtube.

As a chaos fanboy i am always happy to see the lovable Word Bearers <3 I was too young to play this when it came out. And yeah it's pretty bland. Don't get me wrong! it's always nice to see some love for the other races in Warhammer 40k instead of always loyalist humans. As i love all the races. (T'au. Orks. Aeldari. Tyranids. Necrons) So while this game is really bland i still enjoyed it. So i think 10 euros is fine. (Please one day make a shooter game where we can play as a chaos marine! or any other race). Anyways it's objectively an unpolished meh game but there is fun to be had if you like jankey games like me.

Genuinely I wanted to like this game, I tried to like it, I tried to look past it's blandness. Even as a T'au fan I wanted to like it. Those last like 5-6 levels are some of the most abysmal BS I've played in a video game. Genuinely this is only bearable if you're a T'au fan and even then it's questionable. Just watch the Mandalore gaming video. He's right on 100% of this game. Don't waste your time. Also the phrase "It's quiet." is burned into my head. Thank you fire warrior may the Tau'va bless this horrific game.
