I played the first chapter of this game for free and I had to buy the whole thing - it is engaging, well written and enjoyable. With enough achievements to spur you on to collect them all and several different characters to investigate, it is good fun. My only criticism is that no matter how you play the game, it doesn't change the plot all that much, so the level of replayability isn't great. I'd say it is worth the cost.

pretty simple, as far as games go. once you've solved the mysteries, they seem to stay the same, but the characters were cute and endearing enough for me to be really interested - probably enough to collect all of the achievements. ended up dating evan at the end my first runthrough, which was adorable. i liked his character quite a bit, and hey, why not. he's an adorable kiddo who likes makeovers and is good at 'em, totally works with the younger version of me in-game. i know that shanti(? that was her name? sorry, bad with names) is another love option, and so is aj, but is everyone else? i'd assume so, maybe (other than the adults) - which might've explained why the 'romance' was limited to a few paragraphs at the end instead of being through the whole game. the cases themselves were cute and charming enough, though a bit easy - i can imagine this one is for kids though so, y'know, they're supposed to be. still worth my time, though. i'd have liked a bit more interactivity, maybe? an option to actually - for example - type in the passcode with the cipher during the case involving the phone. that's a minor detail, though. i'm not judging this too harshly, but i'd love to see a sequel that actually picks up from the dance onwards, since it seems like there's more material to run on, and hey, there's a bit of potential. pros: - characters are cute - mysteries are kinda interesting - story is sweet and charming like a kid's book (it gave me vibes of books i used to read in the library when i was in elementary school, hahaha) - overall very optimistic and bright-spirited which is refreshing amongst the more dramatic games - a lot of sequel hooks, provided the writer makes a sequel - can play as gay, straight, and even be agender (which, yeah, is a typical thing amongst COG games, but it's still nice to note especially in a game targeted to younger audiences) cons: - kinda short - once you've seen the mysteries, you know the solutions - romance is a bit limited but i wouldn't expect that much considering it seems to be intended for kids - might not be for everyone - some of the choices you'd think would make a huge difference (retrieving brown ugly straight away) don't really i'll give it a 7/10. i'd say at least give the demo a shot and if ya like what ya see there, you'll probably enjoy it. but i'd appreciate a sequel just to go further in-depth. there's a lot of potential for this to be a mini-series released every so often with more school related cases and character development. if i were the writer, i wouldn't let that potential slip by.

Enjoyed it more than I expected. Most options don't rely on your stats and I loved it; I could focus more on the story and pick the options that I liked the most without having to check my stats. The mysteries were short but original and had enough hints to let you craft your own theory in your head before you get to the bottom of them.

Adorable, and well written. A bit like a collection of short stories than a single story, although with some amusing callbacks. Relaxing and low-stakes. I played it three times, and felt like I had pretty much explored the vast majority of its nooks. A good game to play with with a young kid--although I enjoyed playing it on my own as well.

Cute little game. The characters are likable and the MC is oozing with personality. Not much of a detective game really, the mysteries are very simple and don't require much thought, but they work well for the setting of the game and the age of the characters

This is a good CYOA to start with. But there are few things I am not happy with. Firstly the length is quite short in my opinion and the idea is vaguely similar to Psy High, another product of COG, altough the setting is quite different. Loved the attempt of solving myteries but I could not feel any real impact of the investigations. The consequences felt as very minor. The game takes one case to another quite abruptly and doesnt give time to adjust ourselves. It could have been expanded between cases for more character development and approach to cases more naturally. It is like one minute you reading conclusion to one case then boom next chapter you chatting with someone else then comes next case. Maybe thats how mystery novels are written but I am not comfortable with it. Plus sides are the writing were short and good. Doesn't lose me half way through the page. A good one but with some minor flaws. Get it if you want to be school detective. But there are better COG products with better value for money. 7/10 In game and review, I did not lie but my pants been on fire since I was five. Thank you for making me Honest Abe for a while.

This is so nostalgic it bring tears to my eyes. Do you remember that time in grade school when you think you're basically adult anyway, and being a school detective is the most obvious thing in the world? You've read The Three Investigators, Famous Five, and all Sherlock Holmes novel, you're ready for this. And later, when for some reason you never find any case even after you give your business card to everyone in class, you think maybe being a mystery writer is a better idea. You have all this case idea in your head anyway. If those trigger something half forgotten in your memory, you'll absolutely love this. A reminder of those times when everything is possible, and crimefighting is just a bike ride away.

Sixth Grade Detective is a pretty cute game about 11-12 years old detective in school setting. You will be study (a little), have fun with friends and classmates (more often) and solve mysteries (a lot). The world and people around you are easygoing, characters are pretty realistic and fun and even if you’ll make some mistake, you always can fix it and that encourage you to actually playing the way you like it, not just “make everything perfect and everyone happy” way. Mysteries are not that difficult, you can easy solve it, if you’re fan of children’s or adult detective books and quest’s games (most certainly even without these traits), still they’re nice and interesting and have a spirit of all these detective books. And, yes, my favorite game’s part, besides solving mysteries, is characters. There’re really quite diverse cast: rebel kid, cute girl, nerd girl, smart boy and creative boy – each with their own personality and interests. Chatting and spending time with them are really fun, it’s like you back in your childhood, but without bullies, bad teachers and homework! And if you nice enough, you’ll see pretty cute teen romance. And have a date. And a dance. Still you should know that the game is a short one (you can finish it in two hours) and there not so much replayability as you might hope for. For me it’s not a big deal – the atmosphere and the story are good and that’s what I looking for. So, yeah, I highly recommend game for fans of children’s detective books\movies\comics\etc. It’s really nice and you’ll have a good time.

When I first read the Games descripion i though "Great...i'm going to be playing as a kid -.-" But as i started to play the game and read more and more chapters i really enjoyed it. Characters are very well written and i absolutely loved the choices you get to pick, they are actual things kids most likely will say. I really enjoyed this choose your own adventure game and will urge anyone who is into these types of games to give it a try.

I really liked this game, it has more pathways (admittedly to similar results) than expected, and I found the characters' reactions refreshing and...as realistic as can be expected from a story about an 11 year old detective. Plus, it's very easy to get back into favor with them if you make a mistake with one of the ones you like. It is disappointing that the narration assumes your character is inherantly moral at times, sometimes I want to play as evil! It does warrent a few replays because of the different pathways. Overall, it's cute, the characters don't make me feel murderous and the mysteries are fun.
