Beautiful visuals, but gameplay isn't worth it.

Really cute game with some challenge, accompanied by a bewitching song.
Too bad it is not a longer game.
I recommend this game.

I'm sure the dev's artisitc visions were made well.
this is a point and click ( that had no tags for it before I purchased it , I was tricked I feel )
there's only one opiton "resolution" no vsync ( the game runs at 445fps for me )
the animation looks to be at 12fps, so im not sure why the game needs to run without frame lock, most of the time you're looking at a still image on screen, with GIf quality loop animations on the sides.
it's very slow paced, things take forever to resolve ( again, at a blistering 445 fps.... )
not for me. idespise being tricked into thinking a game is more than what it appears.
I added the point and click tag ( whihch was absent at the time of purchase )
you're welcome to future potential customers.
i refunded it after i tried ot play it, and yeah... slow, boring and artistic to the point where it really shouldve just been an animated short like the one they made back in 2009.
Shrug Island glimpses into a meditative and poetic journey through stunningly inspiring artwork, only mollified by disappointingly passable game design.
This beautiful spiritual ode to nature and harmony is recommended with caution due to its unclear or oversimplified interactions. Puzzles in particular are uncharacteristically unimaginative considering the fantastic level of creativity expressed in every other aspect.
One character's ability seeks object fragments from another dimension that plays like a tiny hidden object game, while the other moves environment pieces with musical notes. Put things back in order. Remember and replay sequences. It's all a bit dull but the overall world would merit a deeper exploration in a longer adventure.

A vibrant world inspired by ancient folklore rich in lovely story stems

Mesmerizing soundtrack

Compelling animated watercolor paintings

Helpful characters tell what needs to be done or when to move on

Negative

Creative but inexpertly exploited game mechanics

Most locations barely have a handful of interactive hot spots

Some interactions feel totally random and often bereft of logic

Severely underdeveloped narrative and characters
It is difficult to get fully invested in this very short story with approximately 1 hour of content. I usually appreciate short experiences but this one feels more like a polished intro to a new world than a full game. Yet it is also quite fascinating and worth the short moment of peace it offers.

Immersing myself in the game was an enchanting journey from beginning to end. The exceptional quality of the music and animations harmoniously blend, effortlessly elevating the gameplay experience. It's expertly intertwined with the narrative, creating an absorbing atmosphere that remains captivating throughout.

While the music and illustrations provide a lovely experience, the game itself is not very satisfying. Each scene has about one real puzzle, sometimes intuitive, sometimes a guessing game. Some hints would have been helpful for the more complex spots (very few), and I personally could have done without the map that just kept reminding how short of a game this is. Criticism aside, if you've come here for a short cute point and click adventure, where you're more interested in aesthetics rather than gameplay itself, you've come to the right place.

I liked the game. It's a short, relaxing and pleasant experience for point-and-click adventure players. It's a bit artsy and philosophical but never to the point where you're actually bothered if you're not into that kinda stuff.
If you want to try something really different that will make you think, this is it.
