RESIDENT EVII, or RE7, this game saved the resident evil franchise, and was a lot popular back in the day... i honestly was never totally attracted by re7, but i decided to play it and... it is very good, i really like the gameplay and atmosphere and stuff, it's a good resident evil... i liked it, it's good... here are the things i liked:
PROS:
i liked the variety, the game has variety in setting and even gameplay, but it does not lose atmosphere, the game is really solid and strong...
the gameplay is very good, gunplay is very satisfying and done well, exploring is very good too, i like the exploration...
story, i liked the story...
the beginning, one of the best things about this game is the beginning, the first hour basically, it's really cool and epic, i like a lot the beginning, is so energetic... both atmosphere and action, all perfect...
CONS:
here are some cons...
there are too few hide n seek moments, the game is famous for being a weird resident evil because it's very outlast or amnesia style, and i expected to deal with enemies that are invincible and they roam in the house, like alien isolation... but those parts were really, really few, the main house is the part where there is the roaming invincible enemy, but is way too short... this game is considered short, but i disagree the game is not that short, but the main house is waaay too short...
another thing i didn't like too much is the fact that... the game gives you a bit too much ammo in some parts, i love when the game feels survival, and you should be rambo only at the end, but there are some sections where they really give you too much ammo, but they are quite few at least...
the last thing i didn't like, too few puzzles... the puzzles are too simple and too few, i liked the birthday puzzle, i wish there were more puzzles so clever...
but i loved the game anyway, all the way to the end is really good... solid 8,5/10... but as a bonus, who i better, re7 or re8?... i think re8 is way better until you notice his weaknesses and it's charm go away, re7 is more solid, i think for me they are both at the same level, though re8 has more weak moments and points...

I love horror games, and I went through a huge list of horror games, yet I never played Resident Evil 7 until near the end of 2024, I finished a lot of RE games, but I never touched on the revival of the survival horror genre... and what a revival it was... This game is a damn masterpiece, all the references to some of the biggest horror movies ever are here and they managed to mix them all together coherently too! Most games would feel rushed or cheap for taking so many inspirations but RE7 knew what it had to work with and it sticks!
The perspective change is so good for this series imo, not that third person was bad, but I really love the first person camera, the shooting is rock solid, the puzzles are great but sometimes can take a few tries before you get it, there is so much room for replayability in this and so much content to go through! I loved all the dlcs and mini game modes it had to offer, besides the alligators in a certain dlc, whoever designed those, I have a quarrel with him IRL.
Resident Evil 7 is now my 2nd favorite Resident Evil game, 1st one being Resident Evil 4 Remake, and it's all because after I finished the game... I felt like I wanted to play it again, and again...
The Nightmare "Horde" mode was a breath of fresh air and very fun to go through, the BlackJack mode was hell but surprisingly fun too once you got the hang of it and finally conquer it, the other expansions add to the story even more, and while I didn't like that they somewhat retcon some things in the story, they were great! All I knew is that in one of them I'm Boulder Destroying Chris Redfield and I'm here to break stuff and with the other expansion I'm Joe Danger and I can clear anything out of my way with the good ol' one-two.
There are a few things which could very well annoy someone out of playing this game, like the damn crawlers, the bloaters, the various "Must Die" modes and even BlackJack can be very aggravating, but if you put the time to master these game modes you might have a lot of fun in the end, I always kept coming back for another run, even after I already beat it!
Joe must die though... I was almost going insane with that one... I even started playing BrodyQuest while I kept doing the same thing over and over again, expecting things to change.
I think this game is very polished in lots of areas though, and most importantly it's fun, it still feels like a video game and not some drama story meant to paralyze you when the credits roll, and that is why I think it's one of the best horror games out there nowadays.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard – A Terrifying Return to Survival Horror
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard marks a bold and thrilling return to the franchise’s survival horror roots. With its shift to a first-person perspective, intense atmosphere, and gripping storyline, RE7 delivers an unforgettable horror experience that stands out as one of the best entries in the series.
Story & Atmosphere
The game follows Ethan Winters, an ordinary man searching for his missing wife, Mia, in a seemingly abandoned plantation in Louisiana. What starts as a desperate rescue mission quickly turns into a nightmare as Ethan encounters the sadistic Baker family. The story is filled with mystery, tension, and unexpected twists, keeping players engaged from start to finish.
The atmosphere is one of the strongest aspects of RE7. The eerie, claustrophobic environment of the Baker estate, combined with outstanding sound design, creates an overwhelming sense of dread. Every creaking floorboard and distant whisper adds to the immersion, making players feel constantly on edge.
Gameplay & Survival Horror Elements
RE7 strips away the action-heavy gameplay of its predecessors and embraces true survival horror. Resources are scarce, ammunition is limited, and every encounter feels like a life-or-death struggle. The game encourages exploration and careful item management, reminiscent of classic Resident Evil titles.
The first-person perspective enhances the horror, making encounters with the terrifying Molded and the relentless Baker family even more intense. Jack Baker, in particular, is one of the most memorable antagonists in Resident Evil history, constantly hunting Ethan in a way that feels reminiscent of Nemesis or Mr. X but with a more personal and terrifying presence.
Graphics & Performance
Visually, RE7 is stunning. The RE Engine delivers highly detailed environments, realistic character models, and gruesome horror effects that enhance the game’s disturbing atmosphere. The lighting and shadows play a crucial role in creating a sense of unease, making every dark hallway a nerve-wracking experience.
Verdict
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard successfully reinvents the franchise while staying true to its survival horror roots. With its gripping story, terrifying atmosphere, and intense gameplay, it is a must-play for both longtime fans and newcomers to the series. Whether you're a veteran of the franchise or experiencing Resident Evil for the first time, RE7 is an unforgettable horror journey that will leave you on the edge of your seat.
Rating: 9/10 – A masterpiece of modern survival horror.

I've played many of the Resident Evil games over the decades (not all of them, mind you, but many of them). Some were great, some were good, some were just okay, and some I just didn't like. Resident Evil 7 Biohazard is one of the great ones in my humble opinion.
The visuals are very good, and together with the sound effects and background music creates a nice tense atmosphere throughout, just like it's supposed to be.
The story-line is interesting, enjoyable and well thought out, and playing a Resident Evil game of this quality in first person view is a nice touch which I really enjoyed.
A few events in the game might be considered quite disturbing by some, which is exactly what you want from a good horror game. I mean, what good is a horror story/game that doesn't make you feel just a little bit uncomfortable at times?
Is the game worth replaying? Well, yes... You might want to replay the game to find all collectible items if you missed any on your first playthrough, or to complete the game on higher difficulty settings. You might also want to take a speed run through the game (which I would recommend... hint... hint...).
In some other Resident Evil installments it was possible to collect weapons, gear, and supplies which could then be used in subsequent playthroughs. Resident Evil 7 Biohazard is somewhat similar in this regard, but not exactly the same. Certain weapons and special items can be unlocked for use in all future playthroughs (once certain conditions have been met), but the regular weapons and items collected in game will not be carried over to future playthroughs. This is the one thing about the game that I don't really like... You might, for example, bend over backwards to obtain the powerful .44 Magnum in the game, but in a future playthrough you will have to obtain the .44 Magnum again from scratch. However, fear not... The special weapons and items which can be unlocked for all subsequent playthroughs are very good in their own right.
So, would I recommend this game? Yes. Absolutely. Both for Resident Evil fans, and fans of horror games in general.

It's about what I expected it to be.
A good survival horror game with outstanding atmosphere and a decent story.
Being a soft reboot of the series makes it a good starting point for new players.
I've seen a bunch of people say that the second half of the game isn’t as good as the first, which I don't necessarily agree with. I think both halves are good in their own way.
The only real issues I had with the game were the lack of enemy variety and very slow running speed.

A game that revive its franchise after somewhat Resident Evil 6 that doesnt come close to a "Resident Evil" game at all
with Re engine that optimize the gameplay a lot and the horror element that should be in every resident evil
with its first person approach boost the horror element a lot.
the visuals are really great and hold up to this day along with its sound effect giving the player an eeerie atmosphere
the game run really well though some part its really eating a lot of fps
dont even bother turning up Ray Tracing, you only notice the differences only if you being nit picky cause the baked lighting itself is already good.
there are a few cutscene or event that can be quite disturbing and i like that the game doesnt hesitate at all (expect jp version)
every chapter is interesting knowing every baker's family one by one you never get the feeling of just wanted to finish the chapter as quick as possible because the story is really good.
its worth full price though when its on sale will drop around 60%!
i would recommend this game even for horror fans in general not resident evil fans
this could even be your starter to start resident evil series too!

I just finished Village, so naturally I wanted to "continue" (for lack of a better word) with 7. Its much scarier than RE8, But I would say the gameplay and QoL in RE8 is better. Example: being able to smash boxes, Upgrade weapons, albeit a shallow system, it does provide the player with more options, and Duke <3. It certainly filled in some gaps that I had with finishing 8. Play em both though if you like spooky environments, simple but fun puzzles, and a pretty good story.
