Bought this because wanted to play Scythe (a board game) against computer. Game offered one player mode. Only after purchase turned out to me that in one player mode (called 'Automa') player has to move opponent characters and stuff too, e.g- no computer or AI is there for do that... I would recommend for Tabletopia to EMPHASIZE that this is not a computer game it is only a digital version of the board game...if you are looking for that Tabletopia seems to be OK, to me it is a delusion and a waste of money...:(

It's not perfect, but this is definitely the cheapest and easiest (at least until the digital version comes out) way to play Scythe online. PROS: * Low cost. At $5.99 (as of this review), it's by far the cheapest way to play Scythe. Sure, Tabletop Simulator renders and runs the virtual boardgame version a bit better, but for $27.99, ($20 for TTS and $7.99 for the Scythe DLC) you'd hope it would be superior. Each player also needs to pay for and own TTS to play; Tabletopia is free to download and only one person needs to own the DLC to play. * Fairly easy-to-use interface. The Tabletopia interface is a bit clunky (a touchscreen would make it much easier), but that's just the limitations of virtual boardgaming in general rather than the fault of the TT system. I'm sure the digital version of Scythe will be much easier to use for online Scythe sessions (if it ever stops getting delayed and actually comes out), but until then, this gets the job done with no bugs. CONS: * Set up is clunky and time consuming. This is the largest problem with this Scythe version. Unfortunately, there's no quick and easy way to set up a game. If you choose to play with randomly assigned economy mats, the pieces aren't placed on your economy mat when you enter the game. Players need to drag and drop each piece in it's correct place which is extremely time consuming. Also, in the Automa mode, the game is automatically set up for Nordic with no way to change this on startup - if you wish to change the Automa faction, you need to physically drag all the cards and pieces for setup. Huge pain in the ass. Another (minor) headache: there's no easy way to randomly assign factions to players (a crucial component of the physical version). A menu option would be the easiest way to do this, but this also could of been fixed if TT would let you flip over, stack, and shuffle the player boards. As a workaround, our group has used a random number generator and the honor system, but it would be much better if factions could be distributed randomly in game. Overall - if you can work around the clunky gamepiece setup - this is best virtual version of Scythe for the money. Get it if: * You want to play Scythe online for cheap and you and your friends don't have TTS * You don't mind working around the clunky piece setup Get the TTS version if: * You and your friends already own TTS * You want a more streamlined, polished virtual Scythe version and don't mind paying the extra cost.
