I enjoyed this game and played it through twice at two different levels of difficulty. It was relatively easy, even at field marshal level, to fulfil the victory objectives, but the harvesting all of the bonus prestige objectives was more challenging and some of the special bonus objectives were very challenging. I liked the manner in which the majority of prestige points were rewarded in the game, based upon taking designated objectives instead of by turn. The large amount of prestige potentially available allowed a very Red Army style of play: keep pounding the German army while constantly replacing losses to your Guards units. A minor criticism might be that in the latter scenarios accumulated prestige is so plentiful that earning more almost seems redundant. Another aspect of the game I enjoyed was learning to handle the massive number of units available. I found it beneficial to divide my army into distinct groupings, almost treating each of them as separate mini-games. All in all, I enjoyed Panzer Corps 2: Elite First Guards very much and would love to see additional Panzer Corps 2 games from the Soviet perspective using a similar scale and victory system.
