The software is good (and free, so try it before you get any DLC's) The main reason I'm doing this review is because I HATE people B****ing about "How many DLC's there are"... NOBODY IS FORCING YOU TO BUY THEM! This company's goal is to keep providing content (and to get paid for it)... What's so wrong with that? They can either keep releasing DLC's or they can make it a subscription model (I HATE subscription model software, but am happy to pay for DLC's I want). I personally wish they were still releasing DLC's because I LOVE the portrait one and I wish I could get some more of those (Maybe they are still planning on it? but I think the last DLC was put out Dec 2017). I own, and like all of the DLC's, but this software might not be for everyone. If anybody from Overhead Games reads this, I want you to know that not everyone are A**holes about DLC's and I'm happy to keep paying for great content if you're willing to keep making it.

It's... interesting, and useful if you lack better options though lacking compared to an A.I. good for basic generic character art

quite good RPG character generator, but i think improvement is needed, the sync of character making, for example: face with hair, body with top and bottom. i think the lack of "design part" choice make this character generator "limited". should add more content, i bought 2 DLC so far, i mean i don't take all DLC because i have a taste on design. Throne Lady it is.. please develop and add more content. P.S: PRO VERSION NEEDED if you want watermark logo removed, buy DLC and you still need to buy PRO VERSION at quite high price to remove watermark. If you need support please don't charge too high. If you charge high my expectation also higher on content pieces.

The free version was extremely limited and i can find a dozen doll makers online for free to do what the paid ones do.
Creative and Visual
This is not a game per se, but a software tool for character generation, as the name says. It provides the ability to not only create fully customized characters, but to export them as images, cards, or tokens. This makes the opportunities for use almost endless. Whether you're interested in visualizing characters for your own creative writing, or for your tabletop games, or simply for illustration purposes; the generator is a great visual creativity outlet. I get many hours enjoyment in-game and out of game from the materials and characters. I tried the free version first, just to see if it had enough to make it worth the expense. I was pleased with all of the content, and wanted to remove the logo from my characters, as well as to export full size images. So, I bought the pro version and am adding packs as possible. I recommend the generator pro version for anyone who is looking for creative and open-ended 'games' and software. After all, not all games have to be linear. You know what you want, and the ePic Character Generator allows you to do as you wish. One suggestion for the software devs that I would like to see added to the Pro version, perhaps, is the ability to be able to re-pose the characters. Any flexibility at all in character posing would be a good addition.

This is a fantastic piece of software! I'm not a gamer but a 3d artist and love that I can create art in just a few clicks. I can then take these images into Photoshop and do what I want to make them my own, even though that's not needed. What comes out of the program is really impressive. These images would be great for people who like doing ATC cards in the crafting/scrapbooking arena too. I wouldn't mind seeing more features added of course but what it's capable of right now is amazing IMO. Plus I've found it's a great muse and has already sparked my imagination for doing some projects in Daz Studio. It's a great program and I thought it was worth buying. Although it might go over better if the Pro version of the program was free and with a few items from each pack included. Then once people used it, they would most definitely want to buy all the packs. Well whatever happens, I hope this will continue to be developed and supported. :)

Not sure why this has so many negative reviews. I'm finding it incredibly useful and I've only tried the free version so far. This is an excellent tool for creating your RPG characters! I'm using it to make visual representations of the characters I create for our D&D group. It's simple to use, is updated regularly and I have had no issues with it so far. I have downloaded one free skin pack and found it to be great. Before I found this software I was considering commisioning other people to draw my characters, which would have cost me much more and would have been more bothersome. Looking forward to seeing improvements and additions as time goes on. Seriously, give it a fair go!

I'd say this is decent software if you are in need of a character creator, that being said it is far from perfect. Options are very limited, even with DLC purchased. Customisation options such as combining certain clothing items is not possible. Also, changing the colour of items doesn't really work, all it does is make them look dingy and out of place. Keep the above in mind if you were thinking of getting this.

I have played around with this software for a year and invested somewhere around $100 into upgrades and asset packs. While it is possible to make some pleasing assets, I cannot recommend this application because of several functional deficiencies. 1) You cannot combine assets from different seasons, not even assets which do not rely on a character fit (e.g. companions, held objects, set pieces, atmospheric effects). While this makes partial sense for clothing (i.e. tailored for specific forms and postures) this doesn't make sense for most accessories (e.g. pouch, sword) 2) You cannot resize or rotate objects (e.g. companions). This is mainly an issue for set pieces and effects rather than clothing, but several objects that look good in the pack are actually too massive to make use of and there is virtually nothing you can do about it. 3) You cannot export images as PNG layers without the PSD exporter. Because of how the application works, it should be trivial to export a character as a collection of layers, doing so would allow the user to manually mix clothing from seasons or resize companion, addressing issues 1 and 2. The developer knows about issues 1 & 2 and has done nothing to address them. His solution is just pay an extra $30. In a very real sense, if you want to make characters without a watermark, who aren’t locked into specific (undergarments with prominent straps), with assets that you can resize (via PNG layers) you will need to spend ~$70 (e.g. pro and PSD exporter), and even then you be forced to manually splice together elements from different seasons. The punchline here is that the tool is built with defects (most unintentional, some intentional) that will prevent you from making full use of the assets you’ve purchased (e.g. cross set, resizing). Rather than working to address these issues (modifying the application) the developer asks you to just pay more, by treating functional improvements as paid expansions.
