This def gives the game a ton more life, complaints of how hard it is, is missing the point of the entire rougelike purpose. lock in, dont die, take jobs that you enjoy. The more blood west the better. Once again taking me to outlaws back in the day. I would have paid double for this DLC. Thanks to the devs for keeping the content coming, I'm sure it will only get better if they bring updates. The game has only gotten better, could gush some more but i will get back to sneaking and shooting. UPDATE I FOUND A BLUE CHALICE THAT BROUGHT ME TO A PIECE OF A KEY, THERES SOMETHING DEEPER HERE

After completing this DLC all I can say is disappointment. The devs claiming this could be a standalone game is insulting with the only saving grace as the $5 price tag. It's fun for a bit but offers nothing more than a cheap experience almost as if it were a free mod. Most reviews clarify the gameplay loop quite well. If you love this game like I did its 50/50 honestly id give it a "side thumbs" for what it was.

Difficulty and Gameplay are almost perfect for me. But I haven't found much cool stuff out there aside from the treasure maps. I found a figurine in the beta test on day 2 but haven't seen much thus far. Are you telling me I have to literally beat the game to play as you know who all of these people are annoying and suck compared to the original character and even the original character was kind of annoying. What's also funny is most of the dudes voice lines are terrible. "Swiggity swooty I'm comin for that looty" is not something I wanted to hear in 1890 whatever the year is like that is a gen z level meme I don't want to be hearing that in my western demon killing game. What also sucks is this should've been one of the best ones. (I'm also experiencing an issue where the headshot voice lines play really quiet and muffled)

I played the main for about ten hours. The gameplay, world, visual style, chunky gameplay was perfect. But the overall loop didn't quite hold me down. This is essentially what I wanted. I'm not sure why so many are criticising the difficulty so much... you can customize the difficulty to your liking. I'm playing on intended, and I have died many a times. But then I'll lock in and be careful. Choose my risks wisely. Progress about a week, build up this legendary priest hunter, and then die again because I got too reckless. But the deaths are my mistakes. From there you keep some unlocks after dying, and check your character skills. They don't leave you empty handed. This mode gives you the ability to play as a real hunter with real stakes. Like a western Witcher. It's fun to leave with the loot. Just play it slow, pick your shots, and don't miss.

Pains to say it but while I absolutely love the base game and the 1st DLC, Scavengers feel like a lackluster. Yes, it is an extraction shooter, yes, it is fun to mess around for a while. But in the end, the whole magic of Blood West for me was in discovering the unknown (enemies, locations, weapons), not raiding the same locations with chaotic spawn of low- and high-threat enemies with more or less the same weapons. I mean the base game and the DLC have this element of discovery, surprise, even horror. Here, it is just looting and grinding the same levels over and over and over again. Somehow I feel like I killed some of the game feel while playing the Scavengers. Handcrafted levels, enemy positioning, progression and stashes worked much better in the base game and DMP than randomized stuff here IMHO. May seem unfair to give at a negative while it is a cheap DLC with "ton of replayability", but in the end I think this DLC is actually stealing from the atmosphere established in the base game and Dead Man's Promise. P.S. Thx for the answer, El Oshcuro! The thing is, I really understood from the start what it was going to be. It is just that while I felt I may absolutely fall in love with the endless replayable mode, I just didn't. It is no problem of your DLC's presentation of itself, it is 100% fair. I received exactly what was promised to me. It is more like (at least in my case) sometimes you may not want your wishes to come actually true or something like that. I initially thought this mode would be a lot of fun, but in the end, it didn't click with me the way base game and DMP did. It is like, I thought that even by knowing all the enemies, locations and so on, this sandbox experience would be good enough to have fun in a prolonged period of time. But the initial exploration and unknown threats are just so big part of the Blood West that I kinda felt amiss while I played Scavengers. Hope it explains my feeling for Blood West: Scavengers more precisely.

Honestly . If Devs made it into an actual standalone game with the REAL random generated map and the ability to let player rebuild the whole town . With monsters actually roaming outside the town and have random event like monster attack etc to fight with the other npc to defend the town ... I will buy it in full price again

!!!DISCLAIMER!!!: Scavengers has received an update and the review isn't up to date YET, I will try and update it at some point. Take that to account when reading, please. Some of the issues underlined here HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED. Don't like writing public reviews, but sometimes my hand is forced. Been waiting for this one, but unforutnately that's a no from me as of now. And don't get me wrong, the original game is pretty good in my opinion, I liked it. And before I rip into it... I will say that this is far from the worst thing I've paid around 5 bucks for. But... It's a boring reuse of the locations with not much, but a random item and monster spawner added on top, and each time you go in with a task. Wouldn't be so much of a con if... Everything below didn't apply. Depending on the bonus objectives they might be absolutely abhorrent. The timer leaves me... Absolutely dumbfounded. I get it, risk and reward, but Blood West is not a rush type of game, it's a methodical stealthy game with slow guns, which is built on positioning and trying not to take on too many things at once in a fight. Well, all that goes out the window with how many hordes you'll be seeing past certain days. The enemy damage and health scaling is needlessly annoying. I get it, some people love getting 2-shot. I want to at least unlock some more things before I die. And on that note, I've been experiencing far too many moments where enemies would just seemingly appear out of nowhere (meaning they came from farther than they should usually get attracted from, at least it feels that way). By far what I hate the most is the progression. I just feel like I'm playing with gas station lucky ticket-scratches while a UFC fighter who's about to beat me up is doing steroids. I do not understand collectibles being one of the ways to achieve passive stat boosts, because... You put this mode on a timer. Some mission spawns can be hell even with the full 10 minutes. On top of that, constantly dealing with enemies that take 5 shots too many to kill... The way I see it, it'd be better if the player earned a certain amount of bonus skill points (or maybe boosts) depending on the amount of days survived, and maybe add the passive boosts on the day list. The next issue is... More of a "voice of the community" type deal, I guess? Look, I absolutely adore the new characters, they're great, so is the voicework for them. But there's NO DIFFERENCE aside from starting kits. None. Nada. And... You label this "could have been it's own game"? It needed more time in the oven and a little bit more thought put into it. I want it to be that exact "it's own game" quality, but unfortunately, this is just an asset flip with some really good voice acting as the selling point. More Blood West, but in a very frustrating way.

Blood West Scavengers. What can I say, it just, isn't what I expected, nor does it really give you a means of having "Fun". I see what they were trying to go for, but this game really leans heavily on taking things slow. The game doesn't really support you being smash and grab. This DLC however, REALLY WANTS you to be a smash and grab player, which DEFIES all that you have been taught about the game's flow. The ISSUE, is that with this NEW playstyle, NOTHING about the scavengers has been changed from the main character to ASSIST in that new playstyle. I expected that we would get loadouts, abilities, UNIQUE things to go with these REALLY WELL voiced characters. But just having a starting loadout be different, doesn't help very much. This game puts you on a CLOCK before it spawns enemies to hunt you down (Which is already a hard to vibe with situation considering the heavy stealth often required to overcome the base game's map and enemy placement.), but without any real uniqueness to your kits, it's kinda a let down. I was expecting a character to lean towards necromancy like the DLC, another character to lean towards holy relics or abilities of divine intervention when playing the priest, I figured the mobster might have some extra looting or weapon handling. Nope. Just, what you have already done, already been, and a different voice, associated with a starting bundle of weapons. This was a ambitious project, but not only is it on a reused map, it's not adding anything to the Player's perspective to meld in with the mold it wants us to form. It's unique quest system is nice, but be aware... If you finish the side quest, and run out of time before being able to do the main quest (Mainly because I've been so accustomed the Bayou that I haven't been on the main map in forever), you DO NOT get to collect your side quest reward... ON TOP OF THAT, if you FAIL a quest, you PAY FOR IT out of pocket REGARDLESS of side quest completion. This doesn't encourage a good relationship towards the mechanics of the game. For people who have been playing the main map for a long time, this DLC fits in their packet really well, you already have the locations of things fresh in your mind. However when your compass doesn't even tell you where your objective is... and then hell breaks loose if you take too long... and have to pay for failure IF YOU SURVIVE. It really REALLY pushes a person away. It's hardcore, that is for sure, but perhaps a little TOO hardcore for some people, like myself. Which is unfortunate, because I REALLY like this game. However this DLC, is experimenting a little too much, and doesn't give you the tools to enjoy it unless you enjoy constant set backs and being on a nasty time crunch. For hardcore players, this is a dream come true to test your metal, but if you're not a hardcore player, this will not be your cup of water. It's be seven mugs of bourbon. Your Liver will NOT thank you later. The big this that turned me away, was that these really interesting characters, were not given a class system. I feel like that would have really adjusted how things could work. Each character with passive and active abilities that would make them interesting to play, and you would WANT to play them all. It missed that mark however, and I don't know if they'll even attempt to try that sort of thing, or if this is just what they'll double down with. I REALLY want to like this DLC. It's just... Not Bloodwest to me. If I am going to lose my stealth to a time crunch, give me something cool to work with in return to compensate for the high profile activities I am being pushed into doing. Which is ANOTHER thing. Bloodwest has SO MUCH to work with. I am confident that they can make this even better in time. If things change, I'll take another look at it, but at this time, I can't really recommend this to average Bloodwest players, or people looking for a new way to play. There is just too much going on, and not enough support to achieve it at the moment. Alternatively, if you haven't played Dead Man's Promise yet and are trying to decide which of these 2 DLCs to get. I highly recommend you get Deadman's promise first. It's awesome, and the new play style feel like a new Class compared to the base game, a summoner with a little bit of focused magic. Scavangers has 8 Characters, that is a lot of room to make 8 Unique classes.
