I just finished one route and I was genuinely pleasantly surprised. I had assumed it'd be more one dimensional than it ended up being. The main lead is a fun character
As a heads up, at least for the one route I played, the choices are very much so "do you want a quick bad end or do you want to get on with the main story." This meant there was only three choices, with the final one deciding what ending you got. Personally I'm fine with this and actually appreciate this, but some others might want more planned out bad ends.
Also the art is GORGEOUS. the characters are all so pretty and in a game that writing wise is a massive thumbs up, the art manages to be a highlight.

i have to say that i didnt expect to find such a hidden gem so randomly, but im glad i did, it really hooked me up - the story, the characters are rly great, its perfect blend of romance, gore, angst and comedy with a fantasy setting, when the main motive is presenting different concepts of love, i only wish i could forget it and play it again anew... must play for any BL enjoyer, but i would also recommend it for anyone just slightly interested, cuz its just good

It's a tough hunt out there to find BL visual novels. Let alone ones with good art, decent writing, and intricate characters. To Kill Eros smashes all of those aspects out of the park. I stumbled across the game being advertised on Twitter and was intrigued by the concept and art, though 'hell why not?'
I have no regrets except for the fact that I want more. I could read hours and hours of Melrose and the four romantic interests.
I'll bare all that perhaps this game hit me at a point of my life where I feel very alone, isolated, left behind and without any support. Some of Melrose's inner turmoil resonated so SO hard with me that I found myself in tears. The sheer emotion on all sides of the story is strong.
Eros's route and the shouting match at Vitale's manor had me being able to HEAR the back and forth in my mind as I read.
I fully enjoyed all the routes though if I had to rate my order of adoration went Vitale, Dr. Love, Eros, Icardi. All explore different themes, as expected, and all handle Melrose's spice in different ways (not always the best way).
PROS
- Excellent writing and dialogue
- Art is lovely (though can vary and quality)
- CGs are desktop-worthy in their quality
- Diverse characters
- Good plot twists
- Easy to go back and redo your decisions and explore all options
- Spicy art/scenes don't detract from the story (loved it all)
CONS
- As mentioned, art quality can be a tad inconsistent but not enough to be an issue
- Some of the climax plot ends feel a tad rushed
- I had a bug opening Eros's route that was quite frustrating and had to try a few things to unlock it despite meeting all the prerequisites
This game is completely worth the price tag and I'm quite sad at its lack of community because I'd be alll over that. I'm eager to see what else the creator treats us to in the future! Conclusion,
BUY THIS GAME.

Overall, I really enjoyed this visual novel and I recommend checking it out - while initially I was a bit lost about being thrown right into the action without having more explanations for the overall lore/other things that our character was supposed to know, I grew accustomed to the game's less 'hand-hold'-y style. I really liked the story and the fact that each romance interest had his own unique route - so 'introduction' was the only common part between all them.
The setting is really interesting, and I also really loved how the game was drawn. Melrose was also a really entertaining and relatable main character, I loved his defined personality and struggles. Though I wish there was a bit more interactivity to it between the major story beats, even if we had to roleplay within the bounds of a predefined personality.
Dr. Love was the first one I went after - and he remained my favorite throughout the game. While I liked both Icardi's and Vitali's route, I found Icardi's harmony route
to be kind of lacking, as it was the only route where we didn't get to see more of the inner workings of the Thespiae in the 'concluding' chapters, and it felt kind of unsatisfactory that the conflict with the cupids/other gods just went away without much explanation?..
.
On the technical side, there was one major problem - this game doesn't have a proper cloud saving system, so since I played the game on 2 different devices while travelling, I had to manually sync up with RenPy's servers to transfer my save files.

I'm hoping posting a review helps push this game to more people, because I genuinely think it's amazing. The love interests are all unique and subvert expectations in interesting ways, the plot keeps the game from feeling too focused on the love interests while still giving them plenty of priority, and the game requires you to get every ending before unlocking the more plot-heavy routes, which makes it so you have a complete understanding of the world and its systems before it throws you into the deep end. I find this extremely rewarding and motivating, even though seeing the bad ends was very sad, made even worse by the (beautifully drawn) CG's. Which is another point: the art in this game is beautiful. All of the characters and backgrounds look so beautiful, they really help make the player feel like they're experiencing the world as Melrose is. Take this from someone who normally HATES dating sims, there have only been 2 that I've found genuinely interesting in my entire life, and this takes the cake. Melrose feels like a real person with a deep past, and the love interests also have their own flaws and past traumas that get explored as you get to know them. If the price puts you off, try the demo, it has a ton of content and if you genuinely enjoy it, buy the full game! The demo got me hooked in the first place. I'm genuinely crossing my fingers that this game blows up in popularity someday, it's CRIMINAL how little its talked about and I think it deserves its flowers!

This game is super cute! I waited to write this until I'd finished all the routes, including all bad endings. Vitale was easily my favorite by a long shot.. Sometimes with VNs it's a bit of a drag to try and get through all the routes just to unlock the one I really want, but I enjoyed all of them! I'm really glad the dev decided to share this project. Keep at it!

WARNING:
If you cannot tolerate any mention of toxic relationships or violence in general I wouldn't recommend playing.
I would first like to comment on the artwork, it was beautiful every detail of it I LOVED IT. Second the story, it was very touching in my opinion and it felt realistic as if I was actually living the life of the MC. Third the endings...god i hated them and love them cause it would bring tears to me when getting the chaos ending. Overall I give it a 4.5/5 almost perfect. I finished it in one day and I don't regret anything. IT WAS WORTH THE PRICE.

Pros
Intriguing premise.
Vitale might be one of the best characters of all time.
easily an 8-9/10 game for the 3 main routes.
The plot twists are actually well done.
the characters are multidimensional and complex. Each character has a very different take on love and what it means to them.
theres just enough mystery around the characters left, even after everything has been unlocked, that youre left wondering without the game feeling incomplete (the fates really have it out for Rose). Some routes are definitely worth replaying with later game knowledge.
The whole queer allegory aspect of the theme is prominent without being on the nose.
Neutral
This is, of course, a game with a fixed main character. You might need a bit to get into the game, since you wont feel attached to characters or the named protagonist in the beginning, but get thrown right into their struggles.
The game has well marked POV changes, though Vitale always leaves me wondering if his more unhinged thoughts are hidden from us.
Cons
Yeah, its all minor art polish. The main character is drawn inconsistently (proportions, face shape, and height to other characters), which can be a bit distracting. It happens to a degree where the reader has to wonder if its partly intentional and supposed to communicate how other characters see Rose.
The landladys (grandmas) sprite needs polish in how her wrinkles are drawn.
???
The hidden routes execution choices. Great if you wanted to solidify your lore theories, but I personally wish the game committed to one undertone of several instead of having it be a bit of everything: serious, crackship, toxic rebound, actual relationship. I feel like Im in a rollercoaster and its all Eros fault. Where have I heard that before?

Goodness, the artwork in this game is amazing! I really enjoyed it... The colors especially! (Okay fine, other things too. Jeez!)
It also helps that this is a BL game.
What about the story itself?
Did it deliver?
HELL YES! I didn't expect to like it as much as I did.
I mostly read Eastern BL's, but this one offered a different perspective on myths/supernatural AND......!
THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT!
There is character GROWTH AND accountability!
That's a hell lot more than I can say for some other works. I am actually... Impressed.
Now I usually would comment on the bois and the characters... And all I can do is say: They are all different. Unique in their own ways/personality and... I ended up liking everyone.
I may not have liked the "Secret Route" at first, but he grew on me shortly. (Also... The Secret Route seems to have some really great/sexy CGs. I liked those the most).
I have nothing but praise for this BL. It was definitely worth your effort and you did a great job! Kudos, followed by more kudos! <3 <3 <3
