I have played OOTP 25 previously and loved that one. You have to be kind of crazy to enjoy this game because it’s mostly just pretending to do a real job. My wife calls games like this and FM “email simulators”. But the depth of this game and all the details it includes to help you develop an mlb dynasty is amazing. I got it on sale for $30 and it’s definitely worth that price. It’s so addicting and it turns what feels like 30 minutes into 5 hours of fun so far.

I had been playing MLB The Show franchise for years. I had always loved playing as a General Manager and making team decisions. I had heard about OOTP and decided to finally get it. I'm glad I made that decision. I quickly got addicted to this game. The amount of control it lets you have over the team is amazing. Every aspect you can adjust and it is incredibly realistic. To anyone who even dreams about being an MLB GM, this game is exactly that.

I've been playing baseball simulation games for decades, and Out of the Park Baseball is the deepest and most realistic baseball management experience I've ever found.
What impresses me most is the flexibility. In my current save, I'm replaying the 1990 season with a custom 18-team league. I've been able to follow real-life transactions, promote prospects when circumstances make sense, evaluate advanced statistics, manage injuries, analyze player development, and make strategic roster decisions that feel meaningful.
The game does an excellent job balancing historical realism with alternate history possibilities. Sometimes the season unfolds as expected, and other times surprising storylines emerge. In my current replay, the Cubs are leading their division, the Phillies are outperforming expectations, and young players like Sammy Sosa are getting opportunities earlier than they did in real life. Watching those stories develop is part of what makes OOTP so engaging.
The statistical depth is outstanding. Whether you're looking at traditional stats, advanced metrics, scouting reports, defensive ratings, or league trends, there is always another layer to explore. I've found myself studying team construction, defense, pitching staffs, and player usage the same way a real front office might.
The game does have a learning curve. New players may initially feel overwhelmed by the number of options and reports available. However, once you learn the interface, the depth becomes one of its greatest strengths.
If you enjoy baseball history, roster construction, statistical analysis, or the challenge of building a winning organization over multiple seasons, I highly recommend Out of the Park Baseball. No sports simulation I've played offers a more complete baseball management experience.
Recommended.

The engine is better than ever - still the best pro sports sim on the market in my book. The 3d engine is fine, but the game works best when you simulate rather than play individual games in my experience.

While I definitely appreciate the attempt to revamp the UI, a lot of it is hit or miss. The management menus are for the most part fine, although the development sliders losing the mid point indicator makes using them more difficult. The sliders in general are more awkward than before, but there are definitely more stat ratings.
The in game UI is significantly smaller, so if you wanted more space to see then you get that, but it's just uglier. All the same information is there, in a less appealing overall package. It's harder to find where the info is because everything has been rearranged. One step forward, one step back. I think this UI should be labeled "compact" and should be a toggle. I prefer the previous UI to what they came up with for 27.
In game animations do look a little more lively, a little more dynamic, and the ball bounces around in the infield more than in prior versions, so visually there are some gains with presentation.
Development lab progress bars are a nice addition. You can interrupt a failed dev project, but you can still be hit for some penalties for poor progress. Not sure I would use this feature that often, but doesn't have to have it.
A very strange update for OOTP. If you're new to the series you probably won't notice it, but for OOTP vets this version of the game is more likely to annoy you than anything else.
A fine entry, but wait for a sale regardless.

OOTP is very deep game. Many levels of Leagues... I've been playing for about 8 years and still find things out that I've not known before! I am a Hard core baseball guy and am addicted to the game and play every day. If you Love baseball, I recommend it totally.

Draft player, push through a few years and minor system, call up to the show. Plays 50 games, slashing a good stat line, feels good to have drafted and moved this player up. Boom....IL stints. Rehab, bring back to the show, bam...IL stint.
This game does this over and over again. Any player that is having a good year will all of a sudden fall into the injury cycle.. Over and over. Trade that player and all of a sudden they are healthy and end up in the Hall of Fame. Complete trash.

Very realistic. My Cubs save is basically a Triple A team in the majors due to all the injuries that occur.

I wouldn't recommend this game because I've been playing OOTP for years. Sounds good, right?
Problem is all these years later... it's the same game. And the price has gone up $20. They added a pay to win "multiplayer" lootbox gambling mechanic and just update the rosters every year.
If you're new to OOTP or haven't played it before, you'll likely enjoy it. I always did.
If you've been playing for a while go ahead and skip it - updated rosters is not worth $50.
