No, this simulator shouldn't carry the name 'World Ship Simulator'. World map is just a small fictional map. This simulator doesn't simulate, - just trying to emulate so in the simplest way.

This started out marginally promissing, but very quickly faded away into nothingness. Yet another half-baked attempt at a very much sought after genre by a bunch of undedicated lazy developers.
It really is a real shame that proper Ship Simulation has never been professionaly addressed; one where you could literally steam aroung the entire planet if you so desired. You would need to fill a flask and take a packed lunch mind you!
Wouldn't this be something;-
The watery World of Silent Hunter, with all the Hardcore Navigation modded in.
The Ships of Microsoft Ship Simulators, and giant playground for the mind blowing modders out there.
Everything and anything, from leaking rowing boats with soggy oars to the biggest Super Tankers.
Why, you could even don a pair of flippers and wiggle your way around the World.
We are sick to the eye-teeth of being subjected to a grand total of 100 square nm to steam around in.
We want to manage a ship, and navigate the seas however we like.
Cargo needs to be shipped world wide.
Passengers need to be ferried about in violent storms so they can be sick.
Come on developers; Flight Sims are offering us the Globe to play around in.
This has got to be the easiest giant Open World Sim to create as far as physics and graphics goes.

I received this product with European Ship Simulator which was a terrible game and I had wished for a refund after slightly clocking over 12 hours with the game. This game is not recommended and it's an imitation of European Truck Simulator 2.
Here are some problems:
-Bad graphics and game often catches causing to over heat my computer.
-The only ship you start with is a tiny pilot boat
-The characters in the game are disturbing to watch
-Overpriced for a piece of junk.
GET IT TOGETHER DEVS!

Do not buy this game! No updates for over a year and developers doesn´t seem to care at all.
The game has weird physics and graphics are aweful.
The developers goal must have been to create the worst simulator and should rename this game to "Worst Shit Simulator"

The repair cost for even the smallest bump is astronomical. I get that it's a "simulator," but all you do is boat around with hardly any controls, so it's really not. Couple this with bugs that cause a ship to need full repairs and you literally don't get to play with new ships unless you grind forever. Fun and relaxing, but it needs a lot of work.

This is a game so bad it should never have reached prototype. Its like a child that only a mother could love, but in this case I don't think the developers like it either. It is utter crap. In fact I would be happy to see they change the name of the game to World of Shit. How this game has passed any kind of quality control is beyond me. Even a blind person would rate this game bad. Why I hear you say. They couldn't even fix the horn sound properly. Whenever you move your camera and use the horn at the same time, it sounds like a deranged bumblebee on steroids. No words is bad enough for this game.
Atm of writing this I see it is on sale. About 7 USD at 50% off. You should not buy this. You should not say yes to it as a gift, unless somebody pays you for the wasted 10 minutes you are going to spend. On the positive side they say laughter prolongs the life. Not sure if I should cry or laugh about it, but I have no doubt this game prolonged someones life a lot.

Got this as a consolation prize when the previous design of it, Euro ship simulator, fell through from lack of support and interest in completing it. Can't say I'm surprised that this failed to meet even the same level of completion. Please don't buy it, you'll only be disappointed. I take my simulators seriously and had hopes this would be interesting. I even gave the complete change of product a chance. No more from Odin or Excalibur.

The Ship Simulation world is dead at the momment because nobody has got it right yet. I started with VSTEP's Ship Simulator 2008 which looked like it was heading into the right direction. Then Ship Simulator EXTREME's came about which resulted into a tottal disaster so I gave up on VSTEP. Next I checked out Sail Simulator which is not bad acually just a bit outdated textures and graphics. WSS looked great at the start but I don't think it's complete yet. It's got alot of work to be done on it especially optimization and I am very confused about how to play. You have to look in another place for a Ship Simulator

I am a big fan of the open waters and simulations... Im still waiting for a very good ship simulator.
Or just an acceptable one which can bring all the atmosphere alive what a nature, navigation, sea life means.
WSS can none of these. Terrible unnatural graphics, bad controls, absolutely no illusion of being out there.
Why is so hard to build a good ship sim?
I do not recommend this game anyone - even for free.

If you are looking for a ship simulator buy the version before this, European Ship Simulator. It's not perfect but it's a thousand times better than this.
This is bad in every sense possible.
Graphically it's well below the standard we should be expecting these days.
The controls are difficult to figure out and to programme, mainly because of poor instruction and appalling screen guidance. What's with the timeouts on programming a button? Seriously. Why? What's the rush?
The "on the water" tutorial is poor and the graphics no better than "average" and then there's the harbour.
Goodness knows what you can do in the harbour because when I moor/dock and go "inside the harbour building" the game slows to a crawl in a way I haven't seen a PC game do in about 15 years. It becomes totally unplayable and even altering graphic settings has no effect whatsoever. Not that I should have to. I have a pretty decent spec PC.
However, I can see the graphics in the harbour building are as poor as those outside on the water. Quite possibly worse with badly animated characters walking about. Well I say characters but it is actually the same 3 or 4 lazily cloned people appearing time and time again.
Quite simply as so many others have said here its an appallingly made game, it's getting no support whatsoever from the developers.
To be honest I think when a full piece of unplayable rubbish such as this is on Steam I think Steam should not only pull the product from sale but should also refund every single sucker who decided to buy it.
If World Ship Simulator was a ship it would be the Titanic and we all know what happened to that !!
Odin Game Studio you should be ashamed of yourselves for releasing such a poor, non functioning, badly optimized game. It's a disgrace
