Would have been better if the bosses interact with Ray when she challenge them. Its an ok DLC, for those who liked this game and the story line you should get this. I am sure they will do something to fix this lack of boss interaction and all.

I realy whanted to ilke Ray i realy did but she is just not that fun to play
She was made to replace Zero from megaman x but she does a poor job at replacing him Zero's sword swings where fast and had a long range but Ray's attacks are just slow and short but the worst thing about her is that she losees health in game this makes her almost unplayabel i understand why the develepors did that but it just makes it realy hard to play as her and to defeat bosses
And the wepons thet she gets are way worst thean the wepons theat Beck gets
Last she has nothing to do in the stoy of this game Zero was a big part in the story of megaman x and Ray dosen't evean apere in the main story

Funny thing is the Ray expansion is better then the main game. The writing is better, the voice acting is better, the combat is better. Saddy it also show just how much the game cheat's the Beck character to. Because unlike is Beck you Need to speed as fast as you can with Ray but she has about 20 second of life. Killing and receiving health back restore her life but you can see how much hp drop when waiting for broken opsticals.
A good example is in bot 8, the sword one... Ray can move faster then then whole stage will allow forcing you to slow down and die to time or rush and die.

The story is not interesting. It is good for playing over again with a totally different play style. Something is much easier while something is much harder. It is recommended to buy at a discount if you want to add extra replay value to the game.

I would not recommend this DLC, if you are a DLC collector or just really really like the base game then sure get it, its cheap.
But it's not worth it, it adds an additional playthrough of the game but as this new character, who is just melee focused and is constantly losing health (until the last chunk which doesn't degenerate), and that's it, it seems to have a bit of a new story, but same areas, same bosses and there aren't even boss cutscenes this time around.
So nope, not worth it, I played through the first mission and it was fun but the moment I reached the first actual boss (the fire guy) it became obvious that this is just a glorified super difficult setting, fighting a melee focused boss with a melee focused character ??? Sounds easy but this guy chows your health and you need to avoid making contact, so nope.
I give this "DLC" (glorified higher difficulty "experience") a 1/5... just ... this wasn't needed and isn't worth it for me at all.

When I was writing my review for Mighty No. 9, I found myself constantly adding and removing the expansion DLC from my cart. I eventually hesitantly purchased it and gave her campaign a try after completing Beck’s. Aptly titled, The Vermilion Destroyer, Raychel is introduced to the story as Beck’s rival and predates him as an earlier iteration. However, unlike Beck, she’s seeking answers as to why she was abandoned and must absorb xels constantly from robots, including the Mighty Numbers, until she can confront Dr. White.
Raychel has the option to playthrough the exact same stages as Beck, but her gameplay is slightly different. As she travels through the stage, her life will slowly deplete and one of the key steps of staying alive is through killing robots and absorbing xels. It’s reminiscent to the life draining mechanic used in Shinobi and Nightshade, which is one of the reasons why I was attracted to the expansion. However, Raychel auto-absorbs her enemies and this method of absorbing xels completely kills the fun in score building. Sure, I’m rushing through each stage trying to survive, but the gameplay suddenly becomes dull and repetitive without the one thing that makes Mighty No. 9 fun.
Now there aren’t a lot of things that make Mighty No. 9 good, but one of the positive things that I enjoyed where the interactions between the Mighty Number siblings. As Beck went through each stage, one or multiple of the siblings would acknowledge his existence, whether he was currently working with or against him. However in Raychel’s story, this is complete non-existent. All of the cutscenes during the her stages are removed and the Mighty Numbers exchange zero dialogue with her, even when the Vermilion Destroyer challenges them. This extended story and Raychel as a character, seem like wonderful ideas, but it’s hard to connect with a character when her gameplay is monotonous and development falls short.
To sum it up, I kind of wish Raychel’s story was included with the game as unlockable content, because it’s not worth the purchase. In the beginning I was intrigued by her story, because it somewhat reminded me of Bass and Zero. Playing as her provided an extra challenge, which seems fun on the outside, but ends up becoming stale and her story becomes muffled. Seriously, how many times can you reuse the “these are prototypes before Beck” trope before it grows old? I wouldn’t be so agitated about Raychel’s stages being the exact same as Beck’s if it was included in the game instead of DLC. With four million dollars in development funds, you’d expect something more, but her expansion comes of even lazier than the main game. If you enjoy being frustrated, then by all means, purchase this DLC. Otherwise, I can’t recommend it to anyone unless you received it for free with the physical purchase or through contributing to the Kickstarter campaign.

The first mission where you play as Beck fighting Ray is surprisingly fun, but after that one mission the DLC isn't worth a dollar.
While the change to gameplay with the character's controls make for a surprisingly decent, faster way through the levels, the levels aren't changed in any way to accomodate this. You have to essentially replay the exact same levels that were designed for Beck with a character that controls completely different which can make for some boring and frustrating areas.
The worst part comes with the bosses as they too are designed to be fought by Beck. This combined with Ray's draining health results in near, impossible boss fights where, after a few seconds, a single hit can kill you. It's difficulty that derives from developer laziness, a form of difficulty I find pointless to play through. After all the money and time Comcept had, they could've at least designed the levels and boss fights differently.
It's like if Solid Snake had to fight through Metal Gear Rising in the same way that Raiden had to. Snake would need to take a different approach than Raiden to succeed.

First, you get an extra level for Beck where you fight Ray. That's pretty fun.
Then you unlock the ability to play through all of Beck's levels with Ray instead.
Who is Ray you ask? I still don't know. But she's a red, raging, screaming, melee focused monster robot whose health is constantly bleeding it. It's a new way to play MN9, and, like Zero back in MMX2 or 3 or whatever, the game wasn't really designed for it but it's still fun and forces you to adapt quite well (Let's be honest, Shovel Knight wasn't designed for Plague Knight, and that was still tremendous fun. Yes, Yacht Club made more concessions to make Plague work, but still...). Before long, you're dashing through hordes of robots, tearing them to shreds like a screaming monster bot.
Still, be careful. Ray simply can't do the stages in any order. Her melee attack will leave her completely at the mercy of the sword or ice bosses who can attack for free at melee range. She has to go get some weakness weapons first. There are certain changes here and there to the level design to give her more of a chance, but there's no way she can just do basic weapon only runs against most of these bosses.
A fine addition to MN9 if you enjoyed playing it, but if you didn't, it's not going to sell you on the game.

Store page screenshots and information are misleading since this DLC doesn't explain the backstory of Ray as stated and she doesn't fit with game's level design or bosses since you play the same levels of the main game as Ray instead of Beck this time. It adds a new level for Beck and Ray as a playable character but save yourself some money and time and skip this DLC because you'll be wondering her origins even after the story ends. If there were new levels for Ray, I'd be recommending this DLC right now but sadly, there aren't and that makes me sad because Ray is one of the most interesting characters in game and she deserved better.
