It's really good to play and the little creatures are cute but I had swap from my controller and use my Bluetooth keyboard and had to map out the controls on my steam deck just in case my keyboard dies so I highly recommend adding controller compatibility and maybe add more elements

it is a very fun game. I love streaming it but right now i hit a wall on what to do. I would love to see this game grow and i will come back to it for sure. I even have friends who are wishing for a co-op mode. Overall you probably have a good 10 or so hours in it before you hit a wall. That just me though. YOu should get it and try for yourself.

Seems fun but sadly I can't recommend it because of the bugs persistent in JUST THE MAIN MENU OF THE GAME, let alone whatever issues may be present in the actual gameplay. Keybindings cannot be changed at all. First time I went to the graphics section of the settings the game just straight up crashed. Rebooted the game and checked again, went to change the resolution - literally the only option was 800x600. Apparently this is an issue that has been known about for MONTHS and still isn't fixed. If they can't even get their main menu working properly, I doubt the rest of the game is even functional. Avoid.

I think Monster Lab Simulator is worth picking up on sale, but in its current state, it feels pretty barebones. The core gameplay has some fun ideas, but there isn’t a lot of depth yet. Money quickly becomes something you have more of than you know what to do with, and waiting is a major part of the gameplay loop. You can buy things, but after a certain point, it stops feeling useful. There’s also a lack of variety in the creatures and not many ways to interact with them beyond picking them up and throwing them around. The Helper Robot doesn’t add much right now either; honestly, it got in my way more often than it helped. At the moment, you can probably speedrun the entire creature-pedia in about an hour. After that, most of the remaining gameplay comes down to micro-quests or selling creatures for money that doesn’t have much purpose yet. I still recommend it because there is some fun to be had here, but I’d go in expecting around two hours of real progression and enjoyment in its current state.

Lots of potential, but it needs more content. The biggest strength of this game is that it fills a huge gap in the market. There are very few games built around mixing creatures, and even fewer that do it well. Right now, the gameplay loop is mostly just mixing pets and sending them into battle. The battles themselves are repetitive and not particularly engaging. The evolution variety also feels limited. Tier 2 and especially Tier 3 pets don't differ enough, tier 3 always just ends up being a dog with the colour scheme of the first pet A solid foundation, but it needs more depth and variety to stay interesting long-term.
