text wells are wonky and missing too many common words

can't recommend this game because its dictionary is pretty shitty and that in all the languages I've tried... otherwise it's ok

Fun game. You can type the letters of your word guess then press enter or click each letter individually with your mouse. The sound effects are pleasant and rewarding. The only bad things I can say about the game are that a few real wordsI tried to use "aren't in dictionary" and if you want to click a menu option you have to hover your mouse pointer about a half inch above the button to get it to highlight. But that's not really a big deal. All in all, it could use some minor improvements but is otherwise a good game. It's a simple yet challenging way to pass some time. FYI, this type of game can be played online for free on many sites. I bought this one for offline play.

Cool game, though there's still some words that are weird to say the least (Rnase?) but all in all it's fun. Pause function can be abused too easily - it's not needed to be allowed to pause during a round, when a round takes a few minutes only anyway and you have pauses in between rounds. Like this its too easy to go for a very high score.

Update as of 11/16: Dev isn't really responding to any of the concerns in the discussions and its been over a month since an update, which I can't tell what it did to be quite honest. No word outside of the last update either. Be wary of getting this game I'd say. 12/9 There was an update. The developers were apparently preoccuppied with another game release. Original review: Good word game. Dev says they will be fixing some of the things that were complained about by the community, which is always a plus. As of right now, you have to know some obscure words to unlock the hint function, but getting the hint function will almost always guarantee you getting to beat the level you're on. As of right now, I'd probably not get this game until the developer releases the patch for it that does something about all of those obscure words. Oh, and if you're wondering about my skill level in word games for me to claim a lot of words are obscure, I have mostly every word game on steam worth anything and I play alot of scrabble, ruzzle, words with friends and etc.

I would enjoy this game except for the fact that it says a lot of words are "not in the dictionary" that ARE in the dictionary.

I like what I see, a lot, and luv word games. I want to play this game, but I can't play this game because the three buttons on the bottom don't show up on the start screen. I can't change the settings if I can't get in the game. Its too big on my screen. What do I do?

How I described this game to my brothers: I WANTED TO PLAY A STRESS FREE CASUAL GAME AND LOOK WHAT HAPPENED. CAPS LOCK RAGE. And why the rage? Well, there are a few things. Proper nouns, abbreviations, foreign language words (I had "moi" on a puzzle more than once) which just do not belong in a game like this, and an incomplete English language dictionary. Also, on more than one occasion I could have swore I typed a word that later showed up when I used the hint button. It was as if the word didn't register the first time I typed it. I am curious if any one else had a similar problem, or maybe I just typed too fast and spelled the words wrong. At this point I can not recommend Ace of Words, even if it's on sale. Should these problems be worked out, my review will change to reflect that. Avoid unless you want/need easy achievements.

I am a big fan of puzzle games. I have spent many consecutive days playing similar games, such as Text/Word Twist. This game as it stands now is buggy and there are many things the developers missed. Here are a few things I've notived: 1) As per usual, there are words missing that should be listed, but this is a frequent occurrence for games like these. 2) Once you complete a puzzle, the words you missed are never revealed. 3) The words are not listed alphabetically. It is nearly impossible to logic your way into completing the puzzle and to figure out which words you're missing. 4) I had to quit several times when I was unable to type any letters or click them to enter a new word. 5) There is no way to save your progress (as far as I can tell). Unfortunately there are no good alternatives to this game on Steam, but if you're feeling an urge to play this, don't pay the $5 or play it for free online.

Ace of Words is one of these games I'm interested in for a potential educationnal value. So testing it was changing me from the F2P Lost Lands/Clover Tales or other hidden objects games (and Killing Floor 2 that keeps crashing on me since another update of theirs). Do you know anagrams and Scrabble? Well, it's kinda a mix of them. You're given a list of letters and it's up to you to make the maximum words. The default mode isn't allowing you for 7 or 8 letters, so, go to the options and activate it, so that you will be able to make some achievements. You can see the number of words available and they're revealed to you on the upper part of the screen. However, in order to access a new puzzle and keep your previous score, you need to reach the 100% bar. Also, you need to reach a certain level before unlocking the hint option. But the best is that you change language. I could play in French, though I switched back to English. I'm maybe lacking words but at least, I'm not being frustrated. Let me explain: the game doesn't allow for words existing in French with accents. And trust me, there are a lot like that, that you can make but as the dictionnary included doesn't allow you to put them, you're frustrated. It's the same for English. Where Letter Quest: Grim's Journey allows you a lot of words, Ace of Words is restricting. However, I'm surprise sometimes: some words are really weird and probably derives from scientific langages. Too bad, you don't have any little definition with it. Anyway, Ace of Words is really a good game to exercise your vocabulary if you're not an English speaker for example. It's a real good moment to pass with it. Perhaps the price is high for that kind of game but yeah, if you can buy it during a sale or when it's bundled, go for it!
