honestly really cool
definitely rough in some areas like the user interface, which definitely could've used the same psychedelic visual design the rest of the game had as it really stands out as not quite fitting in. a personal suggestion would be to make a font out of the logo text as that could work phenomenally for the UI.
the music while definitely functioning as complementary to the games aesthetic and visuals did become a bit annoying since they don't vary too much and also they don't change throughout the song very much or if so quite subtly, suggestion would be to make the songs more progressive similar to a lot of other psychedelic music as it would greatly benefit it in some areas
also the claymation aesthetic is honestly sick and would be very interested in seeing more
if youre even slightly interested pick it up since its only like 3 bucks and its not too long either so you can easily sit down and beat it in a sitting

a fun and short acid trip of an rpg game. pretty cool visuals and gameplay is mostly just exploring the world and going through the "story". for such a cheap game its really good.

Bizarrely entrancing!
The Story is actually pretty simple from the offset, but I wouldn't blame you if you got confused by the weird poetic writing that the game has littered all over the world. In other cases this would be a turn off, but for this game it adds to the vibes that its trying to convey. The characters are just as otherworldly as the writing here but are all so intriguing from their dialog to their visual look.
The Settings are just wild. Each one has its own feel while feeling connected at the same time, which for presentation like this, it's impressive. The layouts of sections make sense whilst being alien in their presentation, but it adds to the overall experience.
Visually, I have never seen anything like it but it's so cool to look at and take in. Performance was solid throughout and i didn't run into any bugs or glitches. I also played this on the Steam Deck and it was a great time to play there as well. Just make sure to use the community layout for the inputs or you won't be able to control it. The Art Direction looks like a wild LSD trip with the way the game uses its colour pallet, visual effects and just the overall design as its all created through this twisted outlook on claymation. Its almost hypnotising how wacky the presentation is in both moving around the world to even performing actions in combat with its hand gestures. This is by far one of if not the most visually distinct game that I've played for all the right reasons.
Sound and Audio are also as vivid as the visuals with the Soundtrack being this Earworm-like Mix of Abstract Surf Rock and the audio sounding like it was created on another planet with the many interactions this game has. This aspect of the game fits perfectly with what the game is trying to portray.
In terms of Gameplay, it's your standard JRPG affair. To give context, this game was created on RPG maker which many titles have used, but it is known for its limitations. I think that the game does a great job at making its combat somewhat unique with its use of different takes on attacks, spells and items. I really comes down to whether or not you are into this type of gameplay, but i think that the main pull for this game comes from its presentation and making the player feel lost in this weird world.
Overall, Hylics is an experience like no other and if you want to get lost in a psychedelic world with insane visuals, sound and gameplay, you should definitely pick this up!

What in God's name?
I didn't hate it or anything, but everything seems to be surreal for the sake of it, no meaning or depth.
Aside that, just a regular RPG Maker game with leveling disabled.
Very short. No strategy needed, just equip best weapons and use group heal when needed.
Visually though, its very... unique. Otherwise, nothing makes sense, specially the part where the game randomizes several words at the start of each file.
Truly a life changing experience.

Cool ass game I liked the soundtrack and the style of the game a lot. The game-play was mediocre but it didn't really matter I ended up enjoying myself anyways.

Got the second game right after I finished it. This, is going to be a very, VERY biased review.
I have never played a game that not only caters to my absurdist enjoyment, but also acted as a 1-to-1 replica of my mind. Especially when I sleep during class in school. The songs are great, the designs are spectacular. And the DIALOGUE? Something I would make at 2 in the morning. I love it. I love everything about this game. Wayne? He's me. I've played games for longer, and nothing has quite encapsulated me like this has in just 6 hours. Honestly didn't feel long enough. But I know Hylics 2 probably will. There's nothing much that I can say besides that this game was GREAT. It's a gem for the year it came out, and deserved attention then. It deserves the attention now even more so. WOW I'm rambling. Game good. Get other game. Play both games.

A fairly short abstract-style RPG with a stoner ambient surf rock soundtrack. You get to throw frozen burritos at cone cultists, which is something I've always wanted to do, therefore this game is a W.
