Pandora Tomorrow is often treated as the "middle child" between the groundbreaking original and the legendary Chaos Theory, but it deserves way more credit. It bridged the gap between a brilliant concept and a perfected formula. It refined Sam Fisher’s movement, introduced the iconic SWAT turn, and gave us some of the most atmospheric levels in stealth history. The Paris-Nice train ride is absolute masterclasses in level design. The tension of moving through those cramped, brightly lit cabins while the train rocks back and forth is unmatched.
Sam feels much smoother to control here than in his debut. The introduction of the laser sight attachment and the ability to open doors while carrying bodies made a world of difference for the pacing. The soundtrack perfectly nails that early 2000s techno-thriller vibe, keeping the adrenaline up and dynamically building the tension the moment you step into the light.
The only real tragedy is its technical state. Without community patches, the lighting system is completely broken on modern graphics cards, which is why the game is literally unplayable out of the box and left to rot in abandonment by Ubisoft.

Might be one of the worst games I've ever played lmao. Okay it's not terrible, but I didn't have much fun. Thank you Ubisoft for finally putting this game on steam though.
I am recommending it though because I don't want Ubisoft thinking it was a bad move putting it on steam.

The game is *okay*, a bit too linear gameplay-wise for a stealth game and some sections force you into combat via scripts instead of being given the freedom to avoid it. The game is still worth playing and a recommendation from me. I will admit, I had a hard time pushing myself through to the end once I reached the jungle level. The game had started to become very tedious and I stopped at the last level.

Absolutely fantastic stealth game, even for today. I actually find that the controls age quite well, and using the scroll wheel on the mouse to control Sam's speed is really intuitive. Lots of quality-of-life improvements to improve upon the typical Splinter Cell gameplay. This game and the first one are really fun to play, and I think the style of stealth gameplay, which is a lot more methodical compared to, say, the first two MGS games, is more interesting to me (although those games are absolutely fantastic, too!). Story is pretty good and I love Sam's dialogue and banter (it contrasts pretty well with what he goes up against).
Overall, I'd give it a 93/100.

its a masterful game so there is nothing to say here. but how come you need the ubisoft launcher for this when all the other splinter cell games minus blacklist are launched from steam. its just odd. this is a very old game. old and gold. but still old. there is no real reason why i need the ubisoft launcher for it

provided you use ThirteenAG's fix (simple google, drag and drop process). Pandora Tomorrow is a great game.
A true Splinter Cell 1.5, ironing out some major complaints from the first (you can now open doors while carrying a body, the laser sight makes the pistol really good for quick successive kills, alarm states can now reset), expanding on the framework with more ambitious in engine cutscenes, and adding more detail to AI, adding alarm stages including flak jackets and helmets, and in general being a bit harder from the start, incorporating late game elements from the first game like mines, thermal vision, and turrets as early as the first level.
My favorite detail is "hidden" choice; for example in the second level a civilian managed to capture the intel you need, once acquired, the quickest/easy accidental way out is to detonate the barrels outside his door, killing the mercenaries that placed them as well as the civilian. Lambert will call you out on the accidental casualty.
Story feels like set up for the more personal stakes of Chaos Theory--the general plot is cool and maybe a little too timely in 2026; a terrorist organization hijacks a bunch of small pox and plots to ransom the US. During this plot, a history is hinted at and further explored with Douglas Shetland, eventual owner of Displace International. Still is very compelling.

Although I do recommend it, I must HEAVILY recommend playing it with the ThirteenAG Widescreen patch (Don't worry, it's a simple download then copy & paste). Even with the lack of Spies vs Mercs and the VERY unnecessary need for mandatory Ubislop Connect, Pandora Tomorrow will entertain you with a top notch story and thrilling set pieces. If it wasn't for some dated mechanics I'd even put it above the excellent Chaos Theory.

Pretty much Splinter Cell 1.5. Has some cool additions like the SWAT turn and a red dot laser sight on your pistol (that can distract enemies if you point it at a wall long enough for them to see), but much shorter than the first game, and kinda just ends out of nowhere. Still a good game tho and definitely worth a playthrough. The train level and Jerusalem are standouts for me.
Make sure to use ThirteenAGs Widescreen Fix for the OG trilogy, it fixes all the graphical bugs with shadows and runs the game at your monitor's res.
