I liked this one more then "1989 After the War" because of enemies not respawning, the 60s vibe and the slow pace. I could have done without the timer, but it was never really an issue.

SEEP is back with yet again another little nostalgic hug for the heart. Played for about ten minutes and have no complaints so far. Excited to sit down and complete it on the weekend. I love this team and will always support them! Can't wait to see what is next!

Fun game but way too short. A prequal to war on 1987. was distracted and not even good at these games and got through a lot faster, the games a lot easier espeically the bosses who tend to just go the same move and can often beaten by just trading hits if you come back after dying. If you found War too hard you'll like this a lot. For everyone else its not the best hours to gameplay ratio unless you're getting it half off

I'm a big fan of SEEP games and I generally enjoyed my experience with this one. Compared to 1989 After the War and Ninja 1987, this one's a little slow and plodding. I know what they were going for with the 2D single plane beat 'em up approach. Part of the magic of Double Dragon was unless you're cheesing some specific move, most fights feel like a struggle. Here, the hit boxes start many pixels away from the enemies, making it feel a little silly. Enemies get stun-locked when you punch them and take 4-8 punches every time (excluding the attack doggies). The level designs are cool. Platforming challenges are varied and fun, and they sprinkle enemy types throughout the stages in interesting ways to keep everything fresh. Because of the nature of the enemies there's a lot of flat areas with villains running back and forth and you get to mow through them with a cool machine gun (which you can't spam because of a cooldown and a stage timer). Not really a fan of the AI art used as reference images here. Even though real artists worked on the pixel art, they still used AI reference images and they LOOK similar to AI art. It's funny to think the more people use AI art as a reference tool, the more human graphics are going to start picking up habits of AI. With all that out of the way, SEEP is still in my top five game devs going today. No other dev is consistently dropping such fun 2D games of high quality at such a consistent frequency. If I had played this before Ninja 1987 or 1989 After the War I'd probably think a little more highly of it, but instead it's more of an interesting sidestep that's still worth everyone's time.
