7 minutes... that's as far as I managed before the feeling of slashing my wrists open was overpowering... 'nuff said

Some reviews said it plays itself. This is an exaggeration. Most of skill involve deciding when to retreat and what stance to take. OK. Barely a yes. It was on sale.
A Good Idea, Executed Relatively Well
Game Synopsis I like this game, the idea is original and the gameplay is almost there. The story is based around an evil story writer who mashes together 3 stories in an attempt for revenge, Robin Hood (The hybrid) Snow White (The Mage) and Dr.Jekyll & Mr. Hyde (The tank/bruiser) are together in a team to try and fight their way through to the truth. The game works well, employing hack n' slash mmo and rpg games into one, the wide range of weapons and levels give way to hours of gameplay and endless amounts of exploration. What I like [*]The idea: I've never seen something like this before in a game, the story is definately an orginal one, something i love to see in indie games. [*]The graphics: The characters look a little fuzzy and small on the screen but overall i love the look of the game, the devs clearly spent a lot of time on making each map look pleasing to the eye. [*]The items and levelling system: Torn Tales has a wide range of items that are dropped throughout playing the game, each one relatively unique from the others, abilities and levelling allows the player to really get involved and never feel like they have reached an "end" i really like how the devs pulled this off. Neutral Points [*]Maps: I both love and hate the choice the devs made with the maps in this game, the simple "follow the path" maps do make it less demanding to play and easier to unwind but leave out side quests and exploring differant realms and areas within each mission, although there are "dead ends" to find, this is as far as the game goes with this. What I Dislike [*]WHERE ARE THE NPC'S??:This is a big one, and almost stopped me from playing the game had it not been for the other points made above, this game lacks any sort of interaction or storylines during a quest, this is something that really needed to be added to the game, as it helps the player stay engaged and willing to continure. [*]The beginning: While the game does provide some instructions at the start, many things in the game are left un explained, leaving you spending a good 30 minutes figuring out how to use the abilties etc. Conclusion I think this game was released a little too early and needs a little more refinement. Nevertheless this game is enjoyable to play and a great time killer, would recommend a try.
A learning experience is one of those things that say, “You know that thing you just did? Don't do that.” ~Douglas Adams, The Salmon of Doubt
Ah, the cheap-ass ARPGs... Looks like I found myself in yet another disaster. Because yes, you should not think Dungeon Siege here. You shouldn't think KYN either. Think R.A.W. Realms of Ancient War. Or even Iesabel (before you'll ask, no, you should not play those games, no matter what). Torn Tales is exactly like that. Even worse, actually. Because seriously, this game is dumb. Like... really dumb. There are no towns, no NPCs, no proper quests to do, no stores... heck, there is no even proper inventory / equipment screen! You just run forward through some corridor-like areas, kill stuff and hope not to die. Which may be a pretty tricky thing to achieve since, well, there's no balance here either, while enemies begin to attack you all at once. Have you seen Walmart during the Black Friday sale? Well, guess what? You're the one who's gonna be on sale in this game. Start running. All that is not the biggest problem with the game, though. I mean, yes, gameplay here is terrible. No matter how you look at it. But I really liked the main motif in this game. Reminds me a little bit of American McGee and his games. So, even though the story itself here sucks butt exactly like everything else, I still tried to like the game. Just because the idea itself, the idea to control Snow White, Robin Hood and Dr. Jekyll (the guy have pretty bad luck with video games, huh?) and fight baddies like Davy Jones (because reasons)? It's just way too interesting to ignore. The real problem with Torn Tales is the fact that... it's slow. Like... SLOW! It feels like somebody took Iesabel and made it three times slower. Everybody here acts like they're underwater. Or have a very serious case of hangover. Or their father was Flash Slothmore. As long as you don't know how to use speed hacks, you'll fall asleep long before you'll finish the very first map. So... yeah. Even though the idea of an ARPG that takes place in some sort of ruined dark fairy tale was pretty nice, the actual game... doesn't even worth talking about. Not only it's dumb and terribly made (seriously, this... game... feels... random!), it's also way to slow to be at least a little playable and there's always a better way to deal with your free time in Steam. Dixi.

Control is no issue, just use keybinds to switch characters, use q,w,e,r, for powers, space for amulet, rings do their thing, just picking the right ones is the task there. Mouse to aim and move, couldent be easier, and responce is fine, unless you get mixed about who your on or something dumb. Tab also switches who you are controlling. Game has easy starts to chapters, shows lvl you should be to go. the higher lvls are tough, and I couldent see you letting it play itself with out being killed in a few seconds, without using proper strategy. is Not a clicker. more like Diablo with chapters and diffeculty settings. I do have complaints about map size, a bit small in spots, gets tight to fight in, but adds to battle sometimes. Not really a problem to backtrack to a crossroads or path split, as they are not too big of maps. Sometimes pathfinding on non-controled avatar gets blocked for a sec or two by pets, but works pretty good. The inventory is painfully small, and with just the opportunity to junk, no crafting that i have found, but have not finished the first run thru yet. would be nice to pull gems and have bank or something, and ability to craft. I wondered at first about this party control, but when fighting the troll, opened the fun up, as I adapted to control and had a blast fighting him, the game is too easy in parts, but as it does ramp up, I see no problems so far with pacing. I will continue to play, I am enjoying it, and looking forward to getting deeper into it.

I'm giving this a no, but not for lack of potential. The game does have some good points but some areas are extremely underdeveloped and others are just broken. Elite healing enemies for example will regenerate 300k+ damage in 2 seconds flat. There is nothing to do with all the 'loot' you collect, you're limited to 2 rings and a necklace per character- could have had it where you break extra gear for exp, or a 'shop' of some kind for Epic/Legendary equipment, or even a 2nd option equipment for a quick change when needed. And so on and so forth. It's also extremely short and somehow resource intensive: I can run FO4 with 300+ mods, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. EFP, modded Bannerlord etc etc for example with solid 60fps on high settings, this game somehow falls to around 20Fps in certain missions (The side missions in Chapter 4 for example). Overall it's ok for free, as part of a bundle or 90% sale but otherwise I'd steer clear since it hasn't been updated in years (and untick the share info button)

The game is set in a fairytale world but with a dark twist. The story of the game is told through naration in between levels and pictures on screen during the naration. You control 3 characters, a marksman, a mage and a melee character. which is really unique and implemented well. Each character has there own set of abilities that you can choose from the menus as you level up, upgrading their damage or applying new effects as you progress. If you feel as if you arent strong enough to do a level (or in my case not good enough at the game) you can do the side quests in between main quests to boost up your experience a bit. You walk through different levels fending off enemies collecting loot from chests and trying to beat the boss at the end of the level. No problems with how the game ran and enjoyed the game alot.

From what I've played so far, I can already tell that the game's unique concept will keep me hooked - those looking for an interesting and ever-so-slightly dark story will not be disappointed. The combat and navigation systems took no time at all to get used to, and I enjoyed being able to switch between the three main characters as well as exploring different traits and items depending on the situation at hand. The bosses are particularly fun (and some deceivingly hard to beat!) and you quite literally never know what is coming round the corner - it very much keeps you in suspense. Overall my first impressions have lived up to my expectations for such an interestingly stylised game and I look forward to exploring further - would highly recommend to everyone looking for an innovative and engaging experience.

You cannot progress past the first part of Chapter 4. The same bug that was introduced in the Rebound edition also made its way into this edition. You simply cannot get into a certain area, cannot complete the mission, and cannot progress the story. Other than that, it's a very basic action RPG. There's no towns. There's only basic quests. There's no way to use gear that you find, but won't use (you can't sell gear, or dismantle it for crafting etc). The graphics are basic. The characters are interesting enough, and they all felt different. The skill system is simple, but adding Runes modifies the original skill in neat ways. The story was basic, but I still enjoyed it. Before I discovered that the game-breaking bug is in this version of the game, It was a decently enjoyable game. If you get this game in a bundle, it's worth playing the first three chapters - as long as you're fine with playing a very simple action RPG.
