Great sound track, very interesting visuals in terms of the "hub" at the beginning of the game, but it's not very rewarding for how difficult it is to play. Most of the time you'll be walking back and forth on a level just to gain health or charge up an attack slot. I was very confused about what the controls are, and even more confused when I went to change my button settings. Pressing : or / for "A" "B" or "C" doesnt make much sense to me, I feel that Z X C would be better default buttons since their right below the wasd movement keys. However, I was hooked to playing this game for an hour and a half before I put it down, so I think its worth it to try. It's not quite my cup of tea, but it might be yours.

pro:
+funny names for monsters & items
+find keys, nonetheless bash through doors
not quite a con but could be considered as an issue:
-When you attack the action is described as 'Adventurer attacked you for n damage'.
cons:
-the action button is not clear, nor the other two buttons.
-crashes when I try to select the party menu
-random crashes

I truly want to enjoy this game, but the lack of guidance is concerning. As this is an early access game, it is understandable if a lot of the features or the UI is incomplete, but there is a lot of things that is missing from the game to actually guide the player.
Now, I am not asking for the game to become a linear, hand holding game that it will never be. It's not in the style of the game, but the game itself doesn't provide any assistance with complex actions such as quests and crafting. It would be more likely that I end up never completing a quest or crafting an item.
After writing this review, I found that the game has changed a lot. I suggest that anyone that want to see this game progress should invest the money into the game. It is humorous and does its job of being a rogue-like game.

Ok so I love the game but I do have a few suggestions. 1: please tone down the enemies, yes i get it its randomly generated but it gets kinda annoying when out of nowhere a monster comes out that kills you in to hit or a monster comes out that you can't damage.
2: please put a how to at the beginning cause it took me so long just to figure out how to attack and I still have no clue how to level up. (Also someone please comment how to level up)

This game is definitely for those with a preference, i personally really like the concept but at first its a bit hard to understand what to do until you mess around and see how things work.

I don't know how I have play this game for 24 hrs. but what I remember of it so far of it is good, so i recommend it. Pretty simple if you already know how these games go round.

Doesn't feel like I progress very well and far in the game and wish there were more options with leveling and progressing the character. A tiny fan of it if it could improve in some way.

Enter the world of C:\raft a 1bit roguelike, a simple yet dificult game.
Simply put if you played a game like downwell or undertale and you liked the dialogue and humor feel of the game you're going to like this game.
This is not a game for everyone BUT it is a really fun and cool grindy game for people like me who have an overwhelming love for the jrpg and rpg genres. GIVEN YOU READ THE INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED IN THE GAME BY THE DEVELOPER, this game should be fairly simple to navigate while using your arrow keys as well as Enter, Back Slash (\), And Delete as A B and C buttons. A and B work exactly how they would on a standard gamepad A is accept and B is back and C is to activate other things and go up stairs and stuff it's really not that hard to figure out.
the main problem with this game is that it doesn't cater to dorito dust snorting CSGO players or your classic TF2 or Gary's mod players it's a weird game with a really cool idea most people just don't read how to play the game and then go in to a dungeon and die fifty times until they write a bad review because they failed to understand that you need to READ the INSTRUCTIONS.
my buddy and i were having a good laugh at the creatively random generated names for items and enemies such as:
"Home Grown STD" a real actual item i found
and "jazz Jelly" a real actual enemy i fought.
i absolutely recomend this game because it's really fun and a nice break from the minecraft and terarria rip off games and also a break from survival game and zome game ripoffs i've never played anything like it.

This left early access. I tried it, and it has potential, but the controls are horrible. There is no tutorial, and whenever I try to press the c buttons, I have no idea how to trade and befrend other monsters. This game has a lot of neat stuff, but I don't even know how to use them. I play a smaller dungeon, but everything wants to kill me immediately. please help!

StoryMode - A game about crashing
I went into this game with high hopes. The user interface is clunky and the polar opposite of intuitive.
The game tells you to press A, B, or C to do something. I get this is a reference to the actual control, and the game tells you the controls can be rebound at any time. What it doesnt tell you is what the controls are currently bound to so you have to go fishing in settings to even see that button A starts bound to the E key. Would it have been too difficult to add "Press A (Currently bound to: E)" in the tutorial? Like I said, polar opposite of intuitive.
That alone would be a mild irritation and not worth a negative review. But then you start discovering that half the time the controls either dont even register, or do not behave as advertised. There is no "back" button, so for instance when you mistakenly press Q to summon the goddess to aid you in a dungeon, you cannot simply cancel the request, you have to click around randomly in the hopes the game will close the aid window. Which it eventually does. Sometimes. Aiming a spell at monsters appears to be a coinflip as well, as I have had several times when I have targeted a monster, cast a spell, only to have the spell fly off in another direction.
Then the crashes start. A glance through the bug report forum shows how many players are having this problem(s).
Start the game? Crash. Select a file to explore? Crash. Target a monster with a spell? Yup, crash. Use stairs? You guessed it. These are also all intermittant bugs, so any sense of risk or excitement in a dungeon crawl is reduced to "Is my next action going to crash the game and lose all my progress?" Now THAT is hardcore hardmode folks.
I've seen players report such things on the forums, only to be told by the author they need to follow proper bug submission guidelines which include examining stack trace logs and noting all steps needed to reproduce the bug. This is not the job of a player, it is the job of a beta tester. StoryMode is marked as an early access title. Some bugs are to be expected. But this is not even playable in its current state. I paid for a game, not to join a public beta test. Anyone who wants to actually play a stable, enjoyable game is advised to look elsewhere.
Bottom line: StoryMode has a good sense of nostalgia and humor, but is otherwise a bug ridden mess. The author claims the game is an homage to games gone by, except that those classics were thoroughly tested and polished before being released, and did not ask for players to do the devs job. Perhaps one day, with much community support, StoryMode will become more a game and less an exercise in community frustration. But that day is not today.
