I waited quite a while for this game to get updates, and browsing through my collection I noticed this had a 1.0 release, what luck I thought! Not sure how I missed it for all these months, but it should be a good bit of fun...
No luck on that however, the gameplay is identical to when I had last played it years ago, save for a confusing tutorial system and a very poorly implemented quest tree. It's a shame, the game had a lot of promise but it seems to have been hastily slapped with a 1.0 final release tag and left alone with its smattering of bugs and unfinished features. I mean, your starting character model is just a head, there is no legs or torso, just a grey silhouette. Not a terrific selection during character creation either.
Visually, the enemy pixel art is great, but the bland environment and character art make those fantastic sprites look out of place. I think it's safe to say that there was nowhere near the same attention to detail given to the game outside of that, so despite the negative review, whoever did the enemy art deserves high praise.
If you can get it for cheap, go for it I guess, but I seriously can't recommend it when Terraria is a cheaper option with actual polish and content. Even Starbound, a game I love dearly despite having a similarly rushed development to the end of early access, is a better alternative for the same price. At least it landed with everything intact at the end.
This was quite a disappointment.

Amazing concept, terrible execution. Horrible UI, nigh-unintelligible "tutorial" that does more harm than good, and finnicky controls. Immediate refund, do not recommend.

This game is creative and ambitious. There are numerous, layered systems--skills, magic spell creation, gear refining/enchanting and leveling, and many more. Unfortunately, this game is held back by an aggressive failure to execute.
There are, as noted, a ton of systems in the game. The UI, tutorial, and general information are just outright a mess. Everything you need is there, probably, but it all feels unintuitive or otherwise slightly off. Information and details are buried in menus and challenging to find. Looking at settings and keybindings hardly proves helpful in most cases. I imagine this game plays well if you're the developer and know everything because you made it, but this game has clearly suffered from either a lack of playtesting or a lack of developing based on feedback. The latter would be quite the issue given how long this game was in Early Access.
Having said all that, the true killer for this game is multiplayer. It's honestly a nightmare. Connectivity issues. Desync. Bugs and softlocks with dungeons. Abilities being permanently active when they shouldn't be. It's just a disaster and makes an already challenging to enjoy game that much worse.
It's possible that, after acclimating and experiencing the game more, it becomes much better and more enjoyable. 3-4 hours isn't a lot of playtime. But given the "recent" activity for this game as far as updates, I suspect there won't be any coming improvements, and I doubt I care to take the time to reach the point that the game feels better.
In general, if you see something you like about this game, you're likely better off simply finding an appropriate mod for Terraria and playing that instead.
