I don’t like to be too harsh, especially on what seems to be a student project, but games don’t just cost money—they cost time. And honestly, Monument doesn’t do enough to justify playing it over classic shooters like Quake or Unreal. The level design and enemy placement are the weakest aspects. It leans heavily on Doom-style colored keycards, but the levels are small and filled with excessive backtracking. Later levels feel like they have a locked door in every second room. Enemy encounters are frustrating—either teleporting right in front of you or pinching you from behind in narrow corridors, which is terrible design for a movement shooter that encourages strafe jumping. With so many great old-school shooters available, Monument just doesn’t stand out. It’s not offensively bad, but there are far better games in the genre that deserve your time.

There is literally nothing here that makes Monument worth your time. Sure it's just two dollars, even less on sale, but there's a whole bunch of other games that are a million times better than this for the same price. It's ugly, it's underwhelming, it's review-botted and your 40 minutes of playtime are better spent somewhere else, trust me. Also I don't want to jump into conclusions but this totally feels like an asset flip that was made in an afternoon. 0/10
