Fairly typical "find the hidden object" game with secret message puzzles to solve.

Like Where's Waldo combined with Indiana Jones games, Nightshift code is a fun causal game.

This is a great game that I played with my 5 year old. He loved looking through all of the pictures trying to find the items. A simple design that comes off well.

For those struggling to play this, if you get Lossless Scaling, launch this game and then do ALT/RETURN to exit full screen, go to Lossless Scaling, press Scale. Click anywhere on The Nightshift Code game window and it's fully playable and brilliant.
If I get any game breaking issues I'll update this

I would call this a "Search & Click" game. Enjoyable at first, especially when you realize that you don't know what the said object even looks like because it's the first time you have ever encountered it. Great diversion but lacking it really hooking me in for the finish.

Do not buy The Nightshift Code unless you have a non-updated PC from 2008 still running a non-updated version of Windows Vista. I think I got this in a bundle a decade ago and only now tried to play it. Running with Vista compatibility and resolution changes today will at least get it to function with frequent crashes, but halfway through the game I reached a game breaking bug and cannot advance. I don't feel like restarting, so this title goes in the junk folder.
Its a shame, because it was one of the better designed hidden object games I (kinda) played. It has the only plausible reason for a hidden object game - the seemingly random objects you find are part of a code. The code must be deciphered between searches.
It also gives two options to challenge performance - a timer ticks down for slow performance or a point hit is given for wrong guesses. Therefore, patiently searching and accepting a slow point decrease is an option for perfectionists, but rapid guessing for those who don't care about the score hit is available too.
Another innovation was having one list of items but having to search several screens for those items while toggling between the screens. I don't know if I liked this very much because the game was so unstable and this is where a dead end stopped my playthrough once all the objects were found. But kudos to the developers for trying something different.
