Very fluid and atmospheric shooter. Good for that 1/2 hour of satanic 80s action.

A truly fantastic sidescrolling shooter with crisp controls, beautiful nostalgic and gory art/particle effects. Have spent hours playing the local multiplayer with my buddies, I wish more games not only included this as an option, but featured and executed it so wonderfully. Nothing gets your adrenaline pumping more than the close combat games of "shotgun chicken" running at your opponent at close range, wondering if he'll deploy his deflection shield at the last second. If you enjoy playing intensely competitve and balanced games with your friends in the same room and don't have this in your Steam library, you're really missing out.

I love this game. It has pretty deep mechanics, and the map you are playing on matters because of the strange angles that a lot of the weapons and mechanics work. The only problem I have with the game is its aesthetic. I personaly like the silly demonic feel, and I know that it is somewhat satirical, but I have a hard time recominding the game to some of my more religious friends. I think that it is a shame that this game is not more popular, and I will absolutely recomend it to any friends who I think will have no problem with the satanic aesthetics.

*I will change/alter this review if certain changes are made, namely more content (I don't care about online multi)* I feel bad about writing a negative review for this game, but ultimately, I write these reviews for my Steam friends - so I have to be honest. Really, my beef is more with the price. I feel eight bucks is a bit too much for a game in a genre that has so much stiff competition. I played three players for about an hour - until they whined enough for us to go back to TowerFall. I will play more though. Pros: +Good music +Environments change over time (e.g. it turns from day to night) +Tarot cards are well done, in how they alter gameplay (very similiar to orbs in TowerFall) +The shield mechanic may very well be the best thing about this game. Essentially, when you use your shield, if an enemy shoots you at close range it will spray back at them and kill them. Bringing something novel to the table is very valuable in indie games. +Devs are responsive and kind, on the forums Meh: .Artwork is so-so IMO .Lots of levels, but the differences do not really affect how I play or the strategies that I use .As far as I found, there are no differences in what character you choose Cons: -For a game that only has local play (no single or multiplayer), there are not enough game variants or customization options for a match. This needs to be first priority. -There is something about how the screen is fixed in TowerFall that is more appealing than a screen that zooms in and out like in this game and Duck Game. I don't know why, but I think its just easier for more casual players in general. -I am not at all religious, but the in-your-face religious nods can turn people off. It turned off a friend last night, in fact. Its a subtle thing - take the Binding of Isaac for example. They never quite reference anything super-specific. Jesus Juice is about as close as it gets. Demons with Shotguns kinda steps a bit too far. Don't get me wrong - its a cool theme for a game, but maybe just be a bit more classy about religious references. Just my opinion, I am sure people will hate. -I mean, I hate to say it again, but I will - this is essentially Duck Game, but without a billion weapon options, multi or single player, character customization, armor wearables, etc. etc. And it was only 3 bucks more at release. Good luck in the future, and I will change the review if/when enough has been done. -Ryan

This game is like a faster paced towerfall except with demons and shotguns. The gameplay is really fun and addicting but it lacks in playable levels, guns, and characters. It was made with Unity. Hopefully the devs make this game bigger since it really is a hell-of-a-lot of fun. Oh, and its funny as hell too. The angel is the funniest and the commentator sounds like the dude from honest trailers: "Frag em all." All in all, if you want a funny game the play with your mates, this could be a good hour spent but if you're looking for hours of gameplay, look elsewhere. Until they add more to the game like interesting levels, a level editor, more characters, more guns, more traps, more awesomeness, I cannot fully say that this game is amazing enough to warrant it a perfect score. I give it a 6-7/10. Edit 07/07/2018 After two years of owning this game. Nothing has changed. They should have included a basic workshop mode. It would have made the game leaps and bounds better. This is why games like Towerfall, Stickfight, and Duck game are way better. Could have been amazing but whatever. Save your money and pass this up at full price. Only buy it on sale. You'll get like 1-2 hours out of this game before it gets old. 1 gun on the same types of maps = boring.

Super fun fast pace local multiplayer game. I had a few friends over and they had a blast playing it. There's a surprising amount of tactical gameplay despite its simple game mechanics. You'll want 4 controllers and 3 other friends to have the most fun. Be warned though, this is a local multiplayer only game; you'll need at least one other person to play with you.

Haven't played it a lot yet, but up to now, it feels like a game mixed of Castlevania with Nuclear Throne or even Enter the Gungeon and Painkiller. That's the feel I got, only thing is that this game is a platformer on one screen, it's not a side-scroller. Is it good? Yes, it's good, perhaps for two hour at max, it's good, it's not bad, but it doesn't have enough content nor things to do. If it could use exactly the same gameplay as now, but with some RPG elements such as the one found in Castlevania, side-scroller world with big and open levels, then this game would be even better, I must admit that I did excepted something like the original platformers Castlevania games at first but with its differences. I'm not saying it is a bad game, it's really good but most of the game is multiplayer sided (with friends), there is no bots or anything of the sort. There is a solo/coop survival gamemode though. But it can get repetitive pretty quick, got tired of playing after 20 minutes. So yeah, it's a good game, more of a time killer than anything else, you should get it while it's on sale, otherwise, it may not be worth it. 7.7/10

Maybe it's the rough art style, or rather styles that don’t mesh well, but I have a soft spot for this local deathmatch game where you blast demons (or friends) with holy explosions and shotguns. It's all quite silly but the powerups, charges, and reflective shield did offer some strategy and the inclusion of competitive and co-op modes is quite welcome.

Really really fun 4 players local Co-op/Versus game in the same vein as Towerfall Ascension. with many game modes already available now like: deathmatch, team deathmatch, capture the soul, Soul reaping..etc. the game's mechanics are simple and works great, lots of maps, tight controls and great music too. but for now there is no single player campaign and there are no bots to play against in case you want to play a few matches alone (The devs said single player modes are coming later) and i hope they add the option to disable or enable powerups since i prefer to play without them.

Really good fun. It's been added to the rotation along with Towerfall, Samurai Gun and Duck Game. The music is great, the shooting is super meaty and satisfying and the sheilds are really good. Reflecting a shot into someone's face is hilarious. I think more variety in map mechanics would be good for longevity. Also maybe different shotguns? sawn-off, assault etc? Could be pick ups or vary depending on character.
