This minor DLC only adds flavour and depth for Eastern Roman Empire. Thinking of its price, it is worth it in my opinion. Keeping in mind that this game still has a long way to go!

Terrible, even by Paradox standards... Broken, untested, and completely detached from any historical relevance... I'd expect this level of quality from a random mod, not from an actual game developer. The entire DLC boils down to four new sliders that you call "Byzantine Bureaucracies." I mean, lol. How you managed not to touch on the Ottomans in a DLC centered around Byzantium is beyond me.

The base game is absolutely awful, with terrible implementation of a terrible design and I am saying this as someone with almost 8,000 hours playing its predecessor EU4. This DLC is fantasy drivel, Zeus worshipping flame thrower units for example. and not much of it either. All for a supposedly serious simulation of history base game. Avoid this and avoid the base game. Tinto have been ruining the EU serious since the EU4 Leviathan dlc.

absolute SLOP from a rotten dev studio called tinto. the game will either be abandoned or they'll all be fired and eu5 will be integrated into pdx main. genuinally the worst togalarp dlc in the history of pdx, Johan is CLUELESS and needs to retire before he kills yet another game.

Exclusevely weird ahistorical larp and powercreep disguised as flavor, like the late EU4 DLC trend. In the base game economies scale like in the industrial revolution, noCB wars are the default, waging prolonged wars is barely a dent in your budget, everyone blobs in the most ahistorical way possibile... now we have Hellenism and togas in 14th century... and you really want me to take the "simulation" seriously??? Not to mention it's half broken.... like the base game still is... PDX could and should have used that time and resources to actually try do something useful tp fix this failing game.

Awful terrible and completely disgusting display of eastern roman history. it shows how much disdain johan has for the eastern romans and the people of the balkans with this dlc. the free patch isnt even good either!

DLC mostly focuses on weird Classical Roman restoration instead of actual 14th century history.

EU5 is supposed to be a realistic, historical simulator, yet it's first DLC the majority of the content feels like a meme-larp fueled by Johann's weird grudge against the Byzantine Empire, do you want to simulate a realistic Eastern Rome as it transitions into the early-mordern world? Too bad, that's not what you're getting with this

I pirated and played this, and then bought it only so I can leave a review about how trash this is. Absolute larp ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. No historical path because the larp path is so strong it makes no sense. what a dumpster fire of a game.
