A good quick die and retry Steam Deck session game. Very hard, I did consider throwing the Deck at the wall multiple times.

Seraphonin Is an honest and fluid difficulty platformer with petite, pleasing 2D pixel art graphics.
I'm someone who doesn't play these games, but I was able to comfortably get Into the flow of It. I think It's welcoming for beginners while steadily Increasing difficulty. The NPCs give helpful Information obfuscated as flavor text that should prove useful for new players. I really liked that small UX aspect.
The only "problem"s I've encountered:

The game always boots up In full screen and needs to be toggled every time If you want It windowed, which Is the most minor of Inconveniences ever and barely matters.

Maybe It's just me but I couldn't get Steam's screenshot function to work. I restarted the game, restarted Steam, changed the keybind; nada. The recording/clip related keybinds did work though, which Is strange! I uploaded a screenshot by making the folder and putting one I took there manually.

[strike]I'm currently stuck at the first boss, but[/strike] for merely $6? If you enjoy Super Meat Boy and the like, or just have money to spare and want to try a game In this niche, while It's very simplistic In what It Is, I see It as an easy buy. Simplicity Isn't bad. It's straight forward, well made, and responsive.
Is It hard? Yes. But It's very welcoming and hopefully pulls you In for more after the first handful of levels. Like any good platformer, It's got a sense of rewarding puzzle solving.
At the time of writing, the dev's birthday Is tomorrow!

Amazing game would highly recommend. Its has the right amount of challenge. A level you might be stuck on of feel like its impossible, on the return to the game an hour later you can figure it out and move onto the next challenge.
If you like easy hand holding games this is not for you.

TLDR: 10/10 incredibly tough but addictive 2D platformer, congratulations on your first release!
Seraphonin is an atmospheric, intuitive, and incredibly challenging precision platformer that activated some serious nostalgia for older games such as Super Meat Boy and The End is Nigh. If you enjoy seriously challenging 2D platformers then I can say with confidence that Seraphonin more than scratches that itch.
The controls are spot on and highly responsive, the levels start easy but ramp up in difficulty quickly after teaching you basic mechanics and the instant respawn makes for a highly addictive gameplay loop. The art design behind this game is fantastic and leans very heavily into the Super Meat Boy visual style which I love, but also is reminiscent of delving into a dungeon in Terraria, terrifying but enticing.
Seraphonin is incredibly fun and I would recommend this game to anyone looking to challenge themselves with a brand new, polished 2D platforming experience.
