Actually I don't really like the depiction of the story, it's too light for a story in this assassin series. But for now I really like the simple gameplay and the good parkour

In a totally subjective way or almost, I think this is the best gameplay of the saga: the power-ups of the two protagonists are ordered (unlike Unity), but then there are also the power-ups of the gang that can change the rules of the game, increasing its replayability. All this great gameplay is to the detriment of the not so charismatic characters, with the exception of the historical ones that manage to spice up the main plot very well. The two protagonists offer two different styles of gameplay that however seem to have as much value as stealth in general in the saga: if you exploit it, the game is easier, but it is doable in the same way, as long as it respects the level of the required areas. For the outside of the animus, we are at the levels of Unity: only cutscenes and nothing else, even if very beautiful to see
A mediocre Assassin's Creed at best.
Victorian-era London looks stunning, but infuriating controls and movement keep this game from living up to its siblings.
Highs:
- Graphics and lighting
- Mrs. Disraeli
Lows:
- Frustrating controls that can't be remapped
- Movement feels clunky and slow compared to other games in the series
- Repetitive side missions

All around, just OK.
Despite the beautiful world creating a rich potential for a Victorian Era adventure, it falls quite flat overall, being sporadically great. If you're a fan of AC franchise, sure, you'll enjoy this one, but don't let this be your foray into the series. It's also quite buggy, I ran into multiple soft locks, and a few hard locks. It really feels like the execs rushed the studios to finish by a deadline.
This is the first game where the story really doesn't evoke the fantasy of living in the time period/setting. The story meanders about some plot of Assassins trying to stop Templars in London -- the center of the world. However... why? The assassins just kind of go to london against their guild leader's orders, start a gang, and foil a plot? The game could have done gangs like Peaky Blinders, but there's no connection to your gang, nor the feeling of being some syndicate boss (as the game implies). The game itself also is lacklustre in evoking Victorian England, and only really delves into British Secret Service activities towards the end (spoilers, you gain trust of the queen... which like what? The british empire were one of the biggest perpetrators of global control). OK, there's also an element of helping out an Indian Monarch taking back... Indian control in Punjab? It's all very loose honestly. Ultimately, I didn't care about the heroes/villains, and it's a shame because they were onto something if they had some more time.
The game has a few cool missions set in a beautifully constructed world. However, the climbing/parkour of the game feels WAY too streamlined, more than any game prior. AC1 climbing was slow, and was better for it. Climbing is too easy that it feels like a chore now with how pointless it is. They also give you a grapple hook which makes things even faster. So fine, we feel like Batman or Spiderman now, but there are no rules for it. Just press the button and get to the top of the building. No skill, no aiming.
They even stripped back the exploration of historical sites from AC Unity (which while hard, was very fun). There were some cryptic poem clues, but with a photo, just trivialized the exploration. There was no grander feeling of secret society/conspiracy (of which London could have been full of these moments, kind of like AC2 did it). No mystique or intrigue (outside a handful of moments which felt shoehorned in).
They added a historical segment too where you kill spies in World War 1 -- cool idea, but kind of just a reskin of normal activities.
I should mention the music/score for the game. They only use quartet style music, and while it's very well performed, doesn't always feel like it fits with the tone of what's happening in the game and starts to get distracting/repetitive. I know layering video game music is an art in and of itself, but I found myself turning the soundtrack down in options to 50% after some time, and that's coming from a violin player who enjoys that genre of music.
Finally, the Jack the Ripper DLC was actually cool. You switch between the main character hunting Jack, and Jack himself (playing like a slasher villain). This was cool, and imo should have been explored more. The sneaky/calculated Jack could have been cool too, but going with straight up horror villain was a neat choice. Definitely get the Jack the Ripper DLC.
This game follows the Assassin's Creed formula closely: do a bunch of small activities in the open world, then go on a grander set-piece mission. Just I feel like it needed more time cooking in development. They had a lot of great stuff (including the RPG elements), but they never delivered on the promise of the cover: Peaky Blinders/Assassin's Creed crossover. Too easy, too streamlined, the stakes set in the story felt inconsequential...
Looking back at it, it may be one of my least favourite in the series as far as gameplay goes. It's worth playing if you like this series, just play some of the others first.

I was avoiding this game for many years because of my own predjudice of thinking the game was too modern to be fun to play, but i have to admit that i was wrong. My friend was indeed correct all these years and it is an perfectly fun assassin's creed game.
Definetely enjoyable main story and a good map with fun bonus missions. Especially the historical figures you meet along the way. Would recommend to anyone who likes story driven games and especially fans of the series.

Although Assassin’s Creed Syndicate stands in the shadow of Unity, it has its own strengths. The improved stealth mechanics make sneaking around more satisfying, and the game is far more polished, avoiding the technical issues that plagued its predecessor. With fun dual protagonists and a lively Victorian London setting, it’s a solid and enjoyable entry in the series if you don’t mind the rather light-hearted tone.

dont buy, game is very good but you will have permanent issues with starting the game, ubisoft has downs and didnt care how it got ported to pc so it doesnt work 80% of the times and you have to tweak settings until it magically works. every ''fix'' out there worked for me for about 3 days and then the game would crash everytime i ''press any button to continue''. i love older assassins creed games and this one is great, but holy shit ubi fucked it up so bad that i cant recommend it.

two fun protags and a lot of really well oiled game mechanics, mostly old era AC gameplay but with bleeding edges of the new-era RPG mechanics and systems that create a neat little entry, the main story is a pretty cool Gangs of London style punching up the ladder but the story around all the edges are batshit insane and go off the rails in goofy ways
The Frye twins are cool

To me, it feels like this is the direction modern AC games should have taken. Not to say the next entry in the series is bad, Origins is far from that in fact, but Syndicate, while slightly rough around the edges, establishes a good balance between combat, parkour and stealth. Not one of the 3 systems is left behind, which is what modern AC games tend to do by favoring combat over both parkour and stealth, and what older games used to do by focusing more on stealth and parkour rather than combat. It's not like Syndicate executes all 3 systems perfectly though, combat is way too flashy and some enemies have too much hp, there is no jump button for parkour for whatever reason and stealth while a MASSIVE improvement over Unity, doesn't hold a candle to the older games. Every system here is decent, which works out just fine for Syndicate. The story is nothing spectacular, its somewhat bland and boring but its serviceable enough. London is... a map for sure. It is one of the weaker maps of the franchise, especially coming from Unity's Paris. Crossing the Thames river is fun though and WW1 era simulation London looks very cool not gonna lie. But overall, Syndicate is a very decent package. Some crashes and bugs here and there but nothing out of the ordinary for a Ubisoft game.
Streets of London, The Last Maharajah, The Dreadful Crimes and Jack The Ripper DLCs all add singleplayer content to the game. Buying the season pass gets you a bonus mission. Jack The Ripper is incredible, its like they hired a completely different writing team strictly for the DLC and playing as Jack is way too fun. Shame we cant use him in freeroam. IF you enjoyed Unity's murder mysteries then check out The Dreadful Crimes DLC, which adds 10 new murder mysteries for you to solve. If like me you didn't enjoy them, then skip it, you wont be missing out on anything special. I cant lie all singleplayer content added by the other DLCs is just not good. The Last Maharajah especially is buggy as hell for some reason.
