i got so obsessed with this i couldn't stop until i finished - fyi i played this after a full day and was totally spent. crazy that i never played this before. i'm a big fan of immortality, so i knew i'd love this. and love it i did. the acting is amazing, and imagine my surprise when a tape showed up of her playing a fucking guitar? out of seemingly no where. awesome. by the gods this game is good. piecing this story together made me feel like i was mental. my notes on each tape where mostly just question marks and me saying "what the fuck". after a while i just stopped writing them altogether - i got too distracted by the damn twist. anyway 10/10 would forget to play again for the first time

Putting together Her Story piecewise is a short and satisfying experience, anchored by strong writing and a strong performance from Viva Seifert. It's a bit hard to put into words, but there's a richness and candor to the dialogue (monologue, I suppose) that feels like prose from a novel, and it's all delivered with an appropriate groundedness. It's very compelling. I would have appreciated a few quality-of-life features after finishing the game; a convenient way to watch the 'full movie' in-game stands out, and a more efficient way of hunting down missing clips would save completionists a fair bit of time. I had a pen and paper in hand from the outset, but some players may also have appreciated a built-in note-taking feature. However, these issues are minor, and hardly infringe on your ability to explore the game's story as intended.

Minimalist but clever game. Not too shabby. Not a huge fan of the actress. The song during the credits is a beautiful piece of piano work.

I didn't really know what to expect going into Her Story. The game is certainly interesting and has a lot that it is doing in an interesting and thoughtful way. The game consists of a computer terminal the player must sift through to uncover the details of a disappearance of a man named Simon. The terminal is filled with short clips that you must search through. This terminal interface is really fascinating as a mechanic, but also is the source of a lot of my frustrations with Her Story. The terminal forces you to listen carefully to each piece of dialogue, as each next search term will be constructed of details you've gotten from the previous one. My frustrations lie in both how annoying the interface is to use, and how little the game actually communicates to you what progress has been made. I'm not even sure if I actually finished the game or not to be entirely honest. I think Her Story is meant to be more open ended than I as a player would like it to be, and think from that it is simply not to my particular tastes. The performances of the lead actress are great, and she shows a lot of versatility in her ability to express different moods and tones through her speech. Overall, I'm glad I played Her Story, but I don't think its a game I'll be coming back to (5/10)

You can easily beat the game in <2 hours, but don't ask for a refund because that's mean. Fun game.

Interesting experience. The story itself isn't all that deep, but the way it is told certainly evokes a lot of intrigue and tension. The work of the actress is what makes this game compelling, though.

I absolutely love games that tell stories in a non-linear way, and here we don't only have that, but also the ability to interact and control how linear things are. That was such a smart move, and the story was sooo intriguing and unexpected! This is a very short but quite immersive game, I love it.

The game leans heavily into immersion. Making it feel like you are using an antiquated police tool to find and view videos. Which is neat, for about an hour. Then it becomes frustrating. I can't even begin to describe how frustrating, As you realize you need to sort hundreds of videos with a scroll bar that doesn't work and and interface that sometimes reverts your work. The story is reasonably good, but not nearly good enough to make up for it.

A wonderful unique game. I wanted to play it for so long. I couldn't get 100% database. I had a lot of fun theory crafting and thinking about what is happening in the game. I highly recommend this game.
