The idea is great, but the price is way too high! I bought the “Deluxe Edition Costumes” and don't regret it. But for that price, you should really think twice about whether you just want three more outfits. I wouldn't buy it again. It's not worth it for that price!

Yeah the outfits are a neat edition, but for $10 you could literally buy a whole Shantae game (Risky's Revenge) which is already better than this one.

The costumes are pretty cool but I vehemently disagree with using them as a FOMO tactic to get people to buy it. As long as there is no way to buy these separately, I will not recommend that people purchase it.

Not much I can say that hasn't already been said. The costumes themselves are fine, it's fun to use a different skin and the fact that each one buffs a different spell is neat, but the fact that this "DLC" is tied to the Deluxe Edition with no way to buy it separately is total BS.
If you bought the regular version and later on decide that you'd like to have the extra costumes, you're screwed, you gotta buy the entire game again with it. Why? Just why?
And then there's the matter of the price, an extra 10$ for 3 costumes? That's absurd. I bought the Deluxe Editon because I'm a sucker for alternate costmes, but I'd recommend thinking about if you really wanna spend that extra money.
Hopefully they'll make this DLC avaliable for purchase without being forced in the bundle someday, because there's literally no reason for it to be this way, it's just stupid.

This should be something you can purchase separately. Why it isn't makes no sense to me.
Love the game but forcing people to purchase this with the full game or miss out is insane behaviour.

The Deluxe DLC itself is nice, the costumes are cute and the little buffs are cool. But the fact that it cannot be purchased separately is a really bad move. Locking it behind a Deluxe bundle creates FOMO and unnecessary frustration, if someone buys the standard edition without knowing this, they’d have to re-purchase the whole package just to get the DLC. That’s not only overpriced for what it offers, it also feels anti-consumer.
Even if the goal is marketing, in the end it’s a poor strategy because frustrated players are not likely to feel goodwill toward the developers. For someone discovering the series through this game, this kind of practice is a very bad first impression. The content itself is fine and supporting the devs is always a good thing, but the way it’s handled is harmful for both the players and the developers. Hopefully this changes in the future, because this is the sort of thing we usually see from the big heads of the industry, not from a studio that should be setting a better example.
For that reason, my review is negative, not because of the content itself, but because of the strategy and the practice behind it.

Very skimpy outfits, which is fine, a plus. However, on principle, I don't think it was fair to put any costumes into an exclusive day one DLC bullcrap in the first place, doubly so because costumes in Shantae mean entirely new game modes/saves. So you're missing out on playable content, not just cosmetic stuff. Scummier than that, is the fact that that you can't seem to buy the deluxe pack separately. You have to purchase the Deluxe Edition to get the costumes, and if you bought the base game, you're crap out of luck. Gotta buy the full Deluxe game again for $28 on sale just to get them. Wow. Who knows if they'll put the deluxe upgrade up for sale, but whether they do or not, I can't condone so much anti-consumer nonsense.
