OK, after installing windows 7 I've given this game another chance and I'm sorry but no, this game is just absolutely terrible. I honestly feel like AVGN while playing this... in fact I think AVGN needs to review this. Here are the problems: - Serious performance issues on most modern CPUs (WTF?) - Horribly designed levels - Bad/laggy jump controls - "gotcha!" traps everywhere, basically like eryi's action but in a non-fun way. Yes, it is mentioned in the game description that this is one of those kind of games but this is just.. wow Honestly, I would have refunded it, but I discovered steam refund 15 days after I bought this game, one day too late, sigh. this money could have gone to charity.

Tags: Platformer Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: No out of box Xbox360 pad support. Hidden spike traps felt poorly displayed rather than hidden. Weak writing. Long floaty jumps platforming. Looks great on screenshots, little red goblin platformer in a forest. Supposedly some abilities that you use gems to cast. In practice though you get no Xbox 360 controller support. Control scheme is madness... arrows. S for jump and A to push crates. The screen does not scroll and instead just transitions from area to area forcing you to do a ton of blind jumping. The game hides spike traps inside scenery and they are invisible basically one-shotting you very cheaply unless you memorize where they are. The writing is pretty weak. The platforming involves long loose jumps with dubious amount of granular control. Music is surpsingly unpleasant high pitched piano notes

Game is great, the controls a little bit tricky, but it is not impossible to complete, it is a good challenge. Game is also entertaining, and the art is great.

I bought this game forever ago because it looked cute and was cheap. after like 7 years I decided to revist it again because I remember getting stuck at one point. I was not expecting the controls to be this flimsy and floaty, I was constantly jumping into unforeseeable traps or enemies, I never knew where the heck I was at any given moment. The gameplay is not rewarding or fun whatsoever. Do not buy.

A fantastic throwback surprise. A modern work in authentic NES style game design. Simplistic, stylistic, atmospheric. At times peaceful and relaxing, at times frustrating and intense. Fight your own logic as much as the featured slope jump mechanics as you work your way through a world that speaks very little and lets you embrace a childhood sense of imagination, fervor, and challenge. It's charming, with a top notch, catchy, addictive soundtrack. First playthrough was a little over 5 hrs to completion. Short? Perhaps it's not that the game is too short, but rather that I really wanted more once I finished. I would like to see more diverse enemies in a future expansion or sequel. 5 dollars well spent. Steam player synopsis: Fell far. Lived. Threw fireballs. Blobs died. Jumped high. Spinning death trap. Walked in grass. Falling spike trap. Walked in more grass. Appearing spike trap. Double jumped across a chasm. Floated like a tanooki suited Mario. Missed ledge. Fell in Spikes...wasn't a trap. Just spikes. Died to many Spikes. Enjoyed it. Alot. Retro review: Would jump into spikes again.

very dull unforgiving game that is simply frustrating. to many GOTCHA traps and to many area where you simply get stuck and have to reload the game. requires very very precise jumps otherwise instant death from traps.

It's hard for all the wrong reasons - when you change screen, you often fall in a trap (that you couldn't foresee) : insta death. - when you jump somewhere, there is often an (invisible) trap: insta death. The only way to pass a level is by memorizing it. And not by skill. You've got to die a few times to know where are the traps and then you can go through the level. Then the game got even more difficult (for more unfair reasons) and I abandoned it.

Came looking for a good or at least DECENT metroidvania, instead found: -No health: You die in one hit -Bad jump controls: You rocket jump straight upwards the exact same height whenever you push the jump button, no matter how briefly, and especially when you don't want to go that high, except that sometimes you don't for no apparent reason. -Fundamentally broken level design: In the first FOUR SCREENS of the game there are no less than four arbitrary spike traps that kill the player upon trying to step onto a certain area of ground, with absolutely NO warning whatsoever, no graphical hint or clue that there even MIGHT be anything than normal ground there. Other spikes are placed in such a way that moving from one screen into another that the player has NEVER been to before can get the player killed because they didn't enter from the right side or decided to jump. If you're looking for what I was looking for, do not buy this game. If you are looking for anything resembling a GOOD high-difficulty game, do not buy this game. I want to un-buy this game. The fact that I can say all of this with so little playtime behind me and COMPLETE confidence should tell you everything you need to know.
