Loving this! Perfect game to sit in the corner of my screen while I work. Had a good giggle at some of the strange fish I’ve caught so far, desperately trying to catch Apollo 11 so I can fish in space! Really like that I can fish with my friends too. The music is an excellent companion to the game as well, sets just the right tone.

A game to play whilst you game if you like games with your games. AFK Mode is great most of the time but you won't catch the bigger fish unless you use your best bait, so it can still be a little distracting. That distractions great fun if you're playing with your group since you won't look stupid when you need something repeated because you were catching something.

Really beautiful design! Love how you never know what you're going to catch, and some 'fish' you catch are so unexpected but hilarious. It was awesome to be able to play on a server with friends too! You can see what your friends catch and respond to them in real time - a nice little touch. I love love love the graphic design and the game window is easy to move out the way if needed. And AFK mode means I won't miss great catches and can still have fun whilst completing important work. 10/10 good stuff

Relaxing and a fun little thing to have running while you're doing other stuff. Didn't feel pressure to make sure I was catching everything, keeps it really chill. Liked the AFK mode too.

While the graphics are retro-fun at first, you soon realize there's not much to them as the game is just a couple of frames that doesn't change while you play, its just playing a loop of maybe 3 animated frames on your computer. When the RNG determines its time to catch a fish a mini game opens up where you have to click a certain number of times to catch the first, that's pretty much the entire game. Some different backgrounds to unlock, some "bait" to use which just increase some of the RNG elements. The human generated content is probably just the naming of the fish for whatever seemed fitting after the dev saw the AI-gen'ed fish image. No real game to play here, it's apparent this is pretty much an AI generated "game" with some human-altered AI-content. If you're looking for an actual decent corner fishing game, try Cornerpond.

would give this a neutral review if i could, as its INCREDIBLY simple. just catch fish and bait, thats the core gameplay. i mostly wanted to write this review to say there are no public lobbies, and i think itd be cool if there were

Strange Shores is a delightful little idle fishing game that will sit in the corner of any screen you put it on, and somehow distract you far more than it should! With a variety of baits, backgrounds and some unique catches, you'll find yourself pulling up Orca on far away planets in no time. The game could probably use a quick-join function so you can join people who haven't set up a lobby specifically, but the additions of an AFK mode and the ability to use your scroll wheel instead of destroying your mouse buttons are welcome features and the devs have already put out a post-launch patch which is always a good sign. Pick this game up, well worth the investment, i have it open as i'm writing this!
