It's playable as a time killer, but it's a bit frustrating. Because all the puzzles are photos, there will be quite a few tiles per image where you are honestly just guessing 100% as to if you've put the right tile in the right place because they look identical (skies, grass, chainmail, etc). Particularly, the candle mosaic (shown at the 13 second mark in the trailer) was completely awful: without constantly checking if your tiles are correct by spamming preview / highlight, I'm not sure how you could ever solve it. With a better choice of photos this would've been a much more fun game, so I'm amazed that they chose such poor photos.
Pixel Puzzles Mosaics: A Mystical Puzzle Adventure in HowlStrom
Greetings from HowlStrom, the icy realm where I, Scootaloo, a 19-year-old Pegasus pony, dwell with the ice wolf clan under the guidance of the Alpha Ice Wolf, Kiba Snowpaw. My life, entrenched in the art of gaming, takes a new turn as I delve into the world of "Pixel Puzzles Mosaics," a game that transcends traditional puzzle gameplay and immerses players in a tranquil yet challenging environment.
A Journey Through Pixelated Artistry
Developed by Pixel Puzzles, "Pixel Puzzles Mosaics" is not your ordinary puzzle game. It invites players to piece together a range of 34 mosaics, each a vibrant canvas telling its own silent tale. This game stands out with its non-traditional gameplay, where rearranging jumbled tiles to complete mesmerizing mosaics becomes an art form in itself. Visual and Aural Symphony As a resident of the mystical HowlStrom, I find solace in the game's relaxing atmosphere, akin to the serene snowfalls of my homeland. The mosaics are a feast for the eyes, each one unfolding like a storybook page, revealing picturesque scenes that capture the imagination. The auditory experience, too, is a soothing journey, with a soundtrack that harmonizes with the game's essence.
The Essence of Gameplay
Engaging and intuitive, "Pixel Puzzles Mosaics" presents a tranquil challenge. The process of tile swapping is an exercise in patience and attention to detail, reminiscent of the meticulous strategies employed in the icy terrains of HowlStrom. The game's simplicity is its strength, offering a respite from the action-packed adventures I'm accustomed to. The Heart of the Mosaic Each mosaic in the game is more than a puzzle; it's a window into a different world. From lush landscapes to abstract designs, the variety ensures that every puzzle is a new adventure, much like the diverse terrains of HowlStrom. [strike]Challenges in Tranquility[/strike] Despite its many strengths, "Pixel Puzzles Mosaics" is not without its challenges. Some players may find the similarity of tiles in certain puzzles like gazing into the endless snowfields of HowlStrom, where discerning one's path can be a test of will.

Unique, non-traditional puzzle gameplay.
Relaxing atmosphere perfect for unwinding.
Beautiful mosaic designs offering visual delight.
[olist]
Some puzzles can be challenging due to similar tile designs.
May lack complexity for those seeking a more robust puzzle experience.
Limited appeal for players who prefer action-oriented games. [/olist]

"In every piece of the mosaic lies a story, a journey waiting to be explored, much like the vast expanse of HowlStrom."

Final Verdict: "Pixel Puzzles Mosaics" is a delightful escape into a world of tranquility and artistry. It may not be a whirlwind of action, but its charm lies in the peaceful challenge it offers. If you seek a serene gaming experience that calms the mind like a gentle snowfall in HowlStrom, this game is a beautiful choice.
In the heart of HowlStrom, amidst the icy winds and the howls of the wolf clan, "Pixel Puzzles Mosaics" resonates with a different kind of beauty. It's a game that doesn't just challenge the mind but soothes the soul, much like the serene nights under the Northern lights in our frozen homeland. For those seeking a departure from the adrenaline-fueled escapades and into a realm of peaceful contemplation, "Pixel Puzzles Mosaics" is a journey worth embarking on. It's a reminder that sometimes, in the quietest of moments, amidst the tranquility of assembling a mosaic, one can find the most profound joy and satisfaction. This game is an invitation to all, from the brave Pegasus ponies to the noble wolves of HowlStrom, to explore the artistry of puzzles and discover the stories hidden within each pixelated piece.

This looked like an interesting experiment from the Pixel Puzzles team. So I decided to buy and try it. Well... it was confusing at first, but now that I have the hang of it... sort of... I think it is a fine game. The puzzles have all the pieces in squares (which depending on the number of pieces could be small or large). They are scattered across the puzzle, and you have to click on them to move them where you think they go. There is a place telling you how many pieces are in their correct place. It can be enjoyable, but if you are not ready for the challenge, it can frustrate you.

My biggest gripe with Pixel Puzzle Mosaics has to be that there's no option to fix a tile in place if you place it in the correct place. You're constantly forced to use the Preview and Highlight options to check, double-check, and with some of the more complex images with larger tile count pieces, even triple-check to see if you've placed a tile in its correct place. As much as I am a fan of the Pixel Puzzles franchise, I honestly cannot recommend Mosaics, even at a heavy discount. There's a good idea in this game - assembling pictures via tile-swapping in lieu of jigsaw pieces - but it's not executed as well as I had hoped.

I'm a fan of pixel puzzles, but this one is quite boring. Preview/highlight/preview/highlight. I think I gave myself epilepsy. It wouldn't be so bad if the pieces snapped into place when you got them in the correct spot. There's also no sound options. I like having the sound of pieces being moved, but the water and main screen music can go. My poor Disturbed playlist has a soothing water effect. The sad thing is, my music is the only thing keeping me awake while playing this. Get down with the sickneZzzzzz...
Unfinished and experimental
Quick and short review In short, Pixel Puzzles Mosaics is still okayish at best, but not a game I can recommend due to several factors such as many of its puzzles not having names, the rather awkward menu with floaty mouse control and the overall rather boring gameplay. Stick around if you want more details. Long review. I count myself a fan of the Pixel Puzzles games, mostly. Those centered around a single theme have been fun jigsaw puzzles for me, as I enjoy those yet lack the space/funds for decent physical ones. The second generation had several much needed improvements, though not all the puzzles were that good due to some poor photo's. (Looking at you especially, Birds.) After some debate I bit the bullet and got Mosaics during the summer sale. Frankly, it is very different from prior entries as it is a tile-swapping puzzle game. Please take note of that. You click one tile, then another (or right-click to cancel) and they swap places. There's a huge variety of photo's to complete this way, from a golden dragon to ruined buildings to coins and animals. Yet I cannot recommend this rather experimental entry in the Pixel Puzzles franchise. My gripes and an explanation for each are as follows: The menu for selecting the puzzles has somewhat poor controls. You have to choose the puzzle by clicking it with the mouse, but the actual selection spot is in the lower-right so that you -a- often click the wrong puzzle, -b- especially have trouble clicking those on the bottom row and -c- frequently activate the scrolling function at the edge of the screen. While there are many beautiful photo's, many do not lend themselves well to mosaic puzzles. You need to use the Highlight and Preview functions to get started, and often just to figure out where what has gone wrong. The correct-placement counter barely helps in this regard. Even if you use all three, its often more a game of pin the tail on the donkey than anything else where the especially blurry pieces are concerned. Poorly, not all of the mosaics are named, nor therefore their achievements. =/ Lastly, the game is rather dull compared to the jigsaw puzzles of prior games. Since you're stuck having to use the 'aid functions' there is little actual challenge to the game and the audio isn't anything to write home about either. Conclusion In all honesty, I may complete the game yet and it was just €4,99 during the sale. But I cannot recommend it, its meh at best and definitely not worth the full price.

The game itself is okay, but nearly three months after the game's release, the devs still haven't addressed a problem for some users: the cursor graphics not matching the hitboxes in the menu, presumably calculated for a different resolution. The bigger the difference between your desktop resolution and the one calculated for menu hitboxes, the worse it would presumably get. What also bothers me is the lack of any sound controls, at least any that I could see. This game would be great to play while e.g. listening to podcasts or audiobooks, which is less likely if you can't change in-game audio volume or even mute the sound altogether. EDIT: The hotkeys for preview and highlight don't seem to work for me, either.

This is one Pixel Puzzles game that deviates from the other PP series standard jigsaw pieces slightly boring format. It is tile swapping puzzle with pieces ranging from 32-45-50-72-90-120-172 pieces roughly. Easy preview mode to check accuracy. Not hard overall. I can only recommend this for: 1] Cheap buy at sale under half a dollar. 2] 3 Trading cards. 3] 100% Achievements with little effort. Achievement Hunters: If you just want some quick achievements, load game from save files from someone who finished it. Then clicking every puzzle in Menu will load completed instantly gifting it's achievement! Have fun.

Originally I didn't think I would appreciate Pixel Puzzles Mosaics as it is a large change from previous games but in the end I enjoyed it more than any of the others. The music was fitting to this style of game. The pictures were detailed, beautiful, and vibrantly coloured. My favourite thing however was the mosaic style in itself. The fact that all the pieces were already on the board and all you had to do was swap them around to get a complete picture was a nice change from previous versions. Not only did the reduction of the outer layer mean that you no longer had to struggle to find the pieces you needed, it also allowed the picture to be much bigger as well. This made things far easier to see. Every gripe no matter how small and insignifiant you might of had with the previous games has been removed and in its place we have the most polished Pixel Puzzles game to date. Minus the monstrosity that is Pixel Puzzles Ultimate (not even going to attempt a game of that size).
