a very good game if your into games like this or if your like me who likes adventures and all that stuff like planet crafter or eden crafter but something they should add are modes like creative hardcore or a custom mode or even heck even multiplayer!

The controls in VR are a bit 'weird' but overall I really like the feel of this game...kinda reminds me of Subnautica. I hope this game continues to be developed into a full experience.

Controls could use some work and the graphics are ok. Lots of possibilities.

So far I'm really enjoying this, very addicting, graphics are pretty good(although some things aren't super detailed but that's ok, other things are very detailed where matters, well done), performance is excellent, seems to be very balanced also, I have yet to see any bugs in my 2.4 hours of game play which is rare these days on release, devs seems to be on top of updating it already so maybe that's why. So far the music and sounds are perfect for the experience, just hoping eventually I'll get to hear the full surviving mars music from the original flat game as that's some of the best music I've ever heard in a game(fingers crossed lol). I'll update this if anything changes but I can see myself spending a lot of time with this.

This game is surprisingly fun, and I had a good time playing it. The lore, while minimal as of writing, is still good, the game feels good to play and the general mechanics are fun and graspable. My only gripe is with how the inventory works, but other than that I love it. I look forward to what's in store once the game leaves early access.

Was looking forward to this game as I do like survival games. Got the game installed and all looked great, nice crisp and clear and very good resolution. Controllers worked and I could see the hands moving, I could hear the tones as I moved over each of the options however, I couldn't select anything as the buttons on the controller didn't work no matter how I tried to configure it. Had to refund. Not sure if this is a steam VR thing or not but Virtual Desktop couldn't see this game either.

Surviving Mars: Pioneer Edition – A Subnautica-Style Adventure on the Red Planet! ****!!!!!DON'T FORGET AFTER COMPLETING OBJECTIVES TO CLAIM RP!!!!!***** I COULD NOT CONTINUE FURTHER AND DID NOT REALIZE THE WERE NOT AUTOMATICALLY ACQUIRED AND STARTED SEVERAL NEW GAMES THINKING IT WAS A BUG. If you’ve ever dreamed of colonizing Mars with the same sense of wonder, danger, and discovery as Subnautica, then Surviving Mars: Pioneer Edition is your ticket to the stars. This game doesn’t just drop you on Mars—it strands you there, turning the entire planet into your sprawling, open-world playground. And let me tell you, it’s breathtaking. A Whole Planet to Explore (Rovers Required!) Forget tiny maps—this is Mars, and you’ll need rovers, drones, and sheer determination to traverse its vast, rust-colored deserts. The sense of scale is incredible; distant mountains loom on the horizon, dust storms roll in like tidal waves, and every crater could hide vital resources… or deadly surprises. It’s Subnautica’s exploration thrill, but instead of diving into alien oceans, you’re driving across an entire planet. Build, Survive, and (Maybe) Thrive Every decision matters. Will you focus on sustainable domes, high-tech wonders, or a scrappy survivalist outpost? The game lets you carve your own path, whether you're a ruthless corporate overlord or a hopeful idealist trying to create a new home for humanity. And when your first colonists arrive, watching them adapt (or panic) makes every success feel earned. The Milky Way Like You’ve Never Seen It But the real showstopper? The sky. At night, the Martian atmosphere thins to nothing, and the Milky Way stretches overhead in all its glittering, cosmic glory. It’s a humbling reminder of how far you’ve come—and how much further there is to go. Sometimes, I just park my rover, turn off the HUD, and stare up at the stars. The Future is Bright (Thanks to Mods!) The Pioneer Edition already adds so much, but the real excitement lies in the modding potential. Imagine custom colonies, wild new vehicles, or even alien mysteries waiting to be uncovered. If the community embraces it, this game could evolve into something even more legendary. Final Verdict: A Must-Play for Sci-Fi Survival Fans Surviving Mars: Pioneer Edition is more than a city-builder—it’s an experience. It’s the closest thing to being an actual Martian pioneer, complete with all the beauty, danger, and grandeur of the Red Planet. If you love exploration, survival, or just staring at a sky full of stars, this game deserves a spot in your library. Now, if you’ll excuse me… I’ve got a rover to repair before the next dust storm hits. 🚀🔴

UPDATE: my full review is here: https://youtu.be/awQdTVpETPA Updated Rating 7.5/10. Keeps getting better with updates!
Experienced on the Meta Quest 3
You can view my gameplay & early impressions here: https://youtu.be/ksLtoM3AqyQ I do recommend this game, but beware it is in Early Access and it is pretty bare bones at the moment. You may want to wait for the official release to fully enjoy the intended experience. This is certainly not a bad survival / crafting game. However, the problem is that there are much better ones out there in VR including Green Hell PCVR (my personal favorite) or even Subnautica (even without the motion controls). Currently, a lot of the VR interactions are not very immersive at all. For example, to open a door you'll click trigger pointing at it and then move up your hand until it shows open. Then the door will open. It's worse than point and click actually and puzzling why a VR game in 2025, even in Early Access, would have this out-dated of a VR mechanic for opening a door or a container. Your inventory is just as cumbersome to use. While I don't think there's a lot of grinding in the game comparatively speaking, it does feel like there's little purpose to anything. You're mostly extracting a few minerals or ice, to build stuff that lets you build other stuff. Then you do contracts via rocket ships that just asks for more stuff to make money to get the plans that builds other stuff. It's Mars so there's very little to explore. Nothing interesting happened during my playtime other than a dark cave that was too dark for me to see anything. I did discover an adjacent area that had some cool stuff, but the grind to get there was a bit much, especially since Aluminum was only in this new area but you need it before you get to this new area!! Game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting a steady 90 fps ... now people will complain about optimization on Green Hell PCVR but I'd rather have a dense jungle that is interesting to explore than a steady 90 fps with a barren Mars that has little to explore. In any event, you have a jet pack where again you can make little jumps before it runs out of fuel (where have we seen this before in VR?) You have full locomotion and smooth turning available. You can play comfortably seated. [b]Rate 6.5/10. UPDATE to early impressions: unlocked the hoverbike, wow that is exactly what this game needed ... bumping up my earlier score.
