The only love that exists in the grimdark of the 41st millenium, is the love I have for this game. I played the original, winter assault, dark crusade, soul storm and then DOW2 and its expansions and just a little..... DOW3.
This game I am so glad has been updated with the Definitive Edition. Now mods (Unification) work well on it. Granted.... unfortunately still crashes at times but a LOT less than before.
Play it, join the brotherhood/sisterhood of the 40k franchise fan club. A classic RTS with updated graphics and UI layout improved to support modern monitors.
The standalone game is great, but I do love the unification mod. Being able to play as Dark Angels, Blood Angels, Farsight Enclaves, Tyranids, Steel Legion, Witch Hunters, Deathguard, Thousand Sons and many many more..... makes it even better.

Relic for real decided to further hype us up for King Art’s Dawn of War IV by re-releasing classic Dawn of War with all of its expansions in one neat package tied with a bow, the bow being improved graphics, new enhanced lighting and effects that modernize the look of the game, and balance changes some may care about. When I first played the DoW campaign back in the summer of 2019, I could tell the game was still dated despite having enjoyed it. With the exception of Soulstorm, the expansions felt even more dated, so much so that I had a harder time finishing them (which I did not). With so many fake-out remasters and remakes these days, it’s good to see a definitive edition release that’s an actual improvement over the original game. As of writing this review, I have finished only the DoW campaign in my 24.3 hours of playing, but I look forward to spending hundreds of more hours playing through DoW Def Ed in its entirety to unlock all Steam Achievements and prepare myself for DoW IV.

This is pretty much exactly what it says on the tin: The definitive version of the best of the Dawn of War titles to date (the second one was good and all and the third... Uhm... So the second one was pretty good!) all wrapped up in one game instead of the multiple ones currently in my installation list.
For your money, you get a slightly wider field of view, a new bug in the Necron stronghold mission of Dark Crusade and... Well, you get to relive the glorious narm of old-school in-engine cutscenes.
As for the campaigns? Well the original one has some good missions but still feels like it ends abruptly on an anticlimax, Winter Assault is alright but kind of presages the sequel in that they tried to do narrative-heavy missions and it didn't really work, Dark Crusade is absolute sublime genius and the way the game is supposed to be played and Soulstorm... Uhm... I played Soulstorm when it came out and didn't bother doing it this time around because it sucked. Sorry.
Worth it in a sale if you have the others already, but if you don't, this is one of the places where Warhammer really broke through into the mainstream of gaming.

I have been a die hard Dawn of War fan since the very first game.. But this remaster "balancing" of classes has left my favorite race in the dirt.. Necrons. This last patch 2.9.0 is an absolute slap to the face to any necrons player.. The developers instead of listening to real dawn of war gamer feed back are instead catering to the bad and noob players making the weakest race in the game even weaker because they cannot beat necrons.. Necrons against anyone with any actual skill was an extremely difficult race to play.. If you don't win in the first 10 minutes the game is completely lost do to necrons having underwhelming late game elite units and no vehicles... Now that necron warriors are nerfed worse than they were before until they get late game upgrades winning in the first 10 minutes is impossible.. Probably never playing this game again due to these absurd changes . Lost a player putting in several hours a day. Good job team.

Incredibly fun old-school RTS game. I highly recommend installing the Unification Mod for this as well. Will add many new high quality races/factions to the game along with new units to the current roster of races. Certainly a must have for 40k stans.

I going to be transparent, i have played command and conquer as my first RTS game. I just gotten into Warhammer 40k franchise and realized that its much more older than me, yet still have many much more to learn.
Overall rating of game: 10/10
i really have fun of the pacing of the game as it is quite slow BUT atleast its not command and conquer IN TERMS OF gameplay. Command and conquer is much more of a faster RTS and of course a different franchise and lore.
as for me i really like necrons even though it's much hated, only liked it cause i like robots lol.

The pathfinding is still god-awful.
Otherwise, it's the same game you played 22 years ago, but with less than stellar updates for the most part.
No need to pick it up (at full price) unless you want better performance and mod support.
