Game Review: Ankh - Anniversary Edition Rating: 4/5 Ankh - Anniversary Edition had a lot of potential, but for me, it just didn’t deliver. Even after purchasing it with a discount, as part of a bundle, and making a little money by selling the trading cards, I still felt like I regretted buying it. The game’s animation is quite rough, which made the experience less enjoyable than I had hoped. The characters and movements just didn’t feel smooth, and it took away from the overall immersion. That said, the intro dance number was unintentionally hilarious and was probably the highlight of my time with the game. It was a fun, quirky moment, but unfortunately, that’s about where my enjoyment ended. I couldn’t really push through the rest of the game—it didn’t grab my attention enough to keep me playing. While Ankh may have some charm for fans of point-and-click adventure games, its dated animation and lack of polish made it hard to enjoy. If you’re on the fence, I’d recommend waiting for a bigger discount or exploring other titles in the genre. The nostalgic appeal might work for some, but for me, it didn’t quite hit the mark.

It's a great game. Simple fun. Wish it had a highlight items feature, but other than that...

This game is the entire reason I fell in love with ancient Egypt. (Also, Assil gave my 8-year-old self her straight awakening. Yes, my taste in fictional men is more than questionable.) This is a nostalgia review. The game hasn’t aged too well. It crashes every time I tab out, and there were a few missing audio files, along with some subtitles that didn’t match the voice actor's spoken words. There are also some puzzles that, in my humble opinion, are impossible to solve without consulting a guide. Despite these critiques, I still really love the game, and it doesn’t even look too bad considering it’s TWENTY years old. F*ck, I’m old.
