There's just too much wrong with it. For every one thing the game does well it seems to do five things poorly.
- Excessively long load times
- Very poor ship visibility
- Enemy ships push you! You don't fly over them or crash into them, they push you around the screen if they touch you. Bizarre.
But the worst part of all is they didn't really make a tight game here, it's a color and light show with a bit of shoot 'em up underneath. You start a game with 30 lives, and each of those lives has 10 HP, and the reason why is you don't really avoid much of anything. You take frequent damage because the gameplay isn't refined, you just move forward and generally take damage left, right, and center. You can dodge some enemy bullets but most of them are going to hit you, especially in later levels.
The few things it has going for it is nice looking bullets of all different colors, and the sound effects are good. Enemy designs are okay, but the screen is constantly awash in blazing color so it's not like you're going to see them. Everything on the screen moves too quickly too. Like I said, there's little refinement to this gameplay.
If this were $5 I'd almost recommend it just for the brightly colored spectacle, but at $15 there needs to be some quality, lasting gameplay here and there isn't. 4/10
