Great game. I love these kinds of sword fighting games that are easy to play, with skillful mechanics. Especially the artstyle which had me walking around the maps the first time I played just admiring the beauty and love put into this game. Even certain newer games lack the kind of detail that the devs have put into the maps for Hanako. Combat feels good, AI is good, the game is beautiful. The only problem is the player base. The dev's normally run playtests and get people in the discord to play and stuff on Wednesday and Sundays, unfortunately this doesn't coincide with my schedule much, but there is light. Highly recommend playing this game because if it had enough players, it would be one of my favorites.

I see great potential in this game, i really wish there were more players who gave this game a chance. Perhaps the devs can make this free to play and make cosmetics to help fund the game to keep it going. Overall its a shame to see a good game go down in a unnoticed state.

The game is made by a small team of people and I gotta say, the game has surprisingly good quality for an indie game in it's early access state, the graphics look like a 3D traditional Japanese painting animated and is really quite good, the combat is smooth and nice and it just feels right. A few problems (which will certainly be fixed) is some of the clunkiness in the heavy attack stance, it just feels like it's supposed to be fast but ends up being slow and odd, also the fact that you won't find any matches outside of events in their discord server (chill community, very nice) but I don't consider it much as the game is in early access and will be better in the future. Side note: there are actually cosmetic in-game purchases you can make with real money but it's mostly just under $5 and honestly I'd get it just to support the devs. If you're considering buying the game just buy it when it goes on sale and you'll get an incredibly satisfactory price.

It's clunky yet, not very polished, ninja controls aren't too good yet. It's pretty simple and primitive, even though there's a skill system, and the fights MAY be fun. IF you could try it actually. The playerbase is VERY low for now. It's understandable and not to blame. Good luck with this in the future! Refunded till better time.

This game is beautifully crafted and a lot of fun when you get a group together. The community is pretty small and I wish more people would start to play it. I've been participating in weekly play tests with the devs every Wednesday night and those are a lot of fun! You can really see they progress they make in the game from week to week. They take your feedback during the play tests and take what is viable and work it into their development plan. You can tell the dev team is very passionate about this game and listens to the community for feedback. There is a great mix of game modes, maps and character classes to choose from. I love the art style and the maps are truly beautiful.

Great game. Very much like a Japanese Chivalry. It would benefit greatly from a lock on target feature as the melee can be very fast paced an losing your targety can mean your dead.

Hanako: Honor and Blade. Wow where to start here. The graphics are akin to a graphic novel in motion. That's the closest description I can give for the artwork. the background of feudal japan is a beautiful backdrop in which to do battle against other samurai! The game mechanics are smooth and there is a learning curve for each of the three classes you can play. I would heavily suggest running through the training sims to get a good grasp of what your chosen class is capable of doing. The traditional music which plays in the background can help to immerse you in the game as well as the sounds of the sword being drawn, the Naginata delivering a blow, and the sound of the ninja's Kusarigama flying through the air. I am especially impressed with the way the Kenshi fights as the swordsmanship is fairly accurate. Slashes, thrusts, overhead blows, and even the way the sword is drawn is amazing for a video game. Even the footwork and stance have been addressed. The Naganatashi also has impressive moves! As far as the ninja goes, you really need to stay mobile with him because he has very light armor. However, played correctly, he is definitely a force to be reckoned with! Replayability is also there. Team v team scenarios with different objectives keep a person engaged and on their toes! Although this is an early access game, I believe the potential here to make it an outstanding indie! I just hope that more players gravitate to the game as I have. real players will make this game awesome! the bots tend to get stuck but that too can be improved I am sure. Only small bugs I found so far. Bots being stuck on rocks and not being able to attack if you are positioned in a certain place. My overall Rating for this one is an 8/10 - Great work so far on this early access indie! can't wait to see the future improvements!

Great game but barely anyone plays it. Basically a super-simplified For Honor but only the Japanese faction; the combat feels like a smoother version of the third-person combat in Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. It's been in Early Access for going on four years, but the dev team is very small—they actually update the game quite often though, despite the size of their team. I would love to see the community grow for this one. Edit - Response to Developer: Sorry my positive review and praise wasn't positive enough for you.

TLDR: Lots of potential, kind of clunky, worth a look. I am really on the fence about whether or not to reccomend this game. It has alot of potential and I will definitely be checking it out again further down the road but as of right now I feel the combat is lacking a little. Your hits dont have any sort of impact (other than the stuns/knockdowns) the blocking is not bad but feels weird and the heavy attacks I found to be awful, your charcter does a jump slash in the direction you press and its just doesnt feel right, I like the idea of the jumping and more mobile striking but the way its implemented I personally dont enjoy. Also having a proper dodge such as a simple side step or hoping back to avoid strikes would improve the flow of combat alot as it is right now its either people standing and swinging like mad or jumping around swinging like mad lol

Lots potential... I rarely by early access anymore, been burned too many times. Gorgeous style, controller support, good music, combat gameplay appears to have potential. Needs more players, hopefully it gets them.
