If you are overwhelmed, burnt out and/or needing to escape to an outdoorsy atmospheric chill game I highly recommend Cast and chill. From the gorgeous pixel artwork, relaxing sound profile, and simple but immersive gameplay it was just the game I needed to hop on and off of as I was dealing with some burn out and feeling over whelmed. Is this going to be a game you play all the time? Probably not, but it's the kind of game you love having for when life gets you down and frantic, complex, high speed games just seem like too much for you.

So beautiful, so serene, so impressive. I can't wait for everything to come from this developer. This game just gets better and better with pretty consistent content updates. Support this title, it has so much personality and deserves to get its flowers.

One of the best games I've played to unwind after a long day. No pressure, no problems, just a captivating atmosphere. Couldn't ask for a better game.

I hesitated at first, not being interested in fishing in real life and fishing is rarely my favourite thing when it comes as a minigame in farming or survival games. But I got HOOKED :D (pun intended), and here's why: - VIEW: the pixel art is just stunningly beautiful. Every location is unique and with so many lovely details. - MUSIC: The background music ist just right to set the atmosphere. - GAMEPLAY: straightforward, easy enough but not too much - legendary fish may take a minute and you need to keep on top of gear and locations, but the guide is just perfect for that. - LOOP: The gameplay loop is well balanced. It's not necessary to idle or grind a lot to progress fairly well through upgreading gear, boats etc. After 10h I think I'm like 90% done. That makes it also quite satisfying and interesting to move forward, discover new locations, fish, etc. - UPDATES: I came on board with winter and cabin update already out. I don't know if they plan more, but both seem really to add to the game - ice fishing has nice new mechanics, and the cabin too (haven't finished either yet, but they are both late game). - IDLE MODE: I don't get why people want idle games, you either play or you don't, too old for that, I guess. BUT - it was nice to keep the game running while doing minor game breaks (make a cup of tea, get a snack etc.) and come back to some extra cash. It can be set up (I turned off trophy and legendary catches) so that it doesn't spoil my completion stats.

I can't think of a single thing about this game I don't enjoy. It's fun, it's casual, it's challenging, it's worth it. I bought it for myself and my fiance, and it's so much fun to just sit casually and catch different fish, pet the dog, and enjoy the time spent together. Very very wholesome.

As an avid angler in real life this game is such an amazing fishing game. Its not as deep as a fishing sim would be but all the basic aspects of fishing are there. Fish behaviour is realistic enough and they obviously did some research on how to catch the different species and what a trophy size would be. The updates keep coming and add a decent amount of content to the game as well!

I enjoy idle games. I enjoy fishing games. This is, unfortunately, just about the worst of both worlds. The game is beautiful, but that beauty is skin deep. Identifying the fish is frustrating, as they don't have enough distinguishing features. I've spent a fair amount of time sat there trying to catch certain fish with the lure it suggests, the correct rod for the size, and having no success; there's no feedback about whether the descriptions are wrong, or there's some bit of gear I don't have that hasn't been revealed to me yet that's preventing them biting. And when they do bite...well, as someone who's done a fair bit of fishing, both digitally and in the real world, there's no joy to it. The mechanics are simple beyond belief. The direction of the fish doesn't matter. The type of fish makes little difference. You press the mouse when there are no bubbles, and let go when there are. That's it. It's extremely unsatisfying. The game does play itself, if you don't want to play it. Which at this point, sadly, I don't. But the novelty of it as basically a screensaver while I do other things has worn off already, and I'm nowhere near "done". There are no new mechanics as you progress. Just having to tediously pick between a greater variety of similar gear to tick the boxes it wants ticked, none of which has much in the way of real-world logic to it. It's just a numbers-go-up idler, at the end of the day. The fishing mechanics feel tacked on, and the idle gameplay isn't interesting enough to carry it. It's not terrible. But it's very, very far from deserving an "Overwhelmingly Positive" review score.

This lives on my second monitor and living room TV. Maybe this game was not intended to be fully idle but that's how I use it, I wish it would auto-upgrade and auto-switch between maps - I want the game to 100% play itself like a screensaver. The art is stunning, 10/10 vibes. Someone should expand this concept and move towards a fully idle / parallax world / auto explore & quest game.

I adore this game. I'm not usually one for fishing, irl or in video games, but the charming pixel art drew me in and the relaxing ambience got me to stay. Lovely for putting on in the background in idle mode, and I enjoy actively playing and fishing as well. Each update has me coming back for more! I greatly enjoy this little nod to nature, to fishing, to relaxing on the water. Highly recommend.

There's a dog that looks just like mine that I can pet. 10/10. I like to use the idle mode while I'm studying, makes the whole experience way more enjoyable for me. Thanks for the great game!
