I've been a fan of Voltage Inc since I was a pre-teen and read the stories on my iPod touch, they each had their own app, etc. Needless to say, Voltage was my introduction to Otome and still remains my favorite company with the stories that I have a great connection to! Background aside, when I found out there were some games on Steam I was really interested in trying them out.
I was a bit skeptical of the price tag, but with it being 35$ I assumed that meant I would be getting all parts of the story and thankfully that was true! I more commonly read on Love: 365 where you have to use coins and again my skepticism made me assume there would be some in app purchases, I'm glad that wasn't true! Also, this title for some reason was in Japanese when I went to make the purchase and I read on a different title that the game was automatically in Japanese, so I was relieved to see it in English when I loaded up and wouldn't struggle trying to change the language!
I've only read one story so far for this game, and it was everything I love about Voltage. A bit old fashioned in the genre of Otome, but very worth it if you just want a simple romance read. There's not much decision to make and a happy ending is guaranteed (Happy vs Super Happy). I personally am not a fan of bad ending for these types of games, just because I like a little comforting romance in my life :')
Voltage is super story rich, most of the stories I read by them I'm instantly hooked and I think I can say with confidence I have read every story route beginning to end whenever I start one no matter the title! I also am someone that finds comfort in things I'm used to, so I find the re-readability really nice as well. That being said, there isn't much decision making in this game or in Voltage as a whole. Decisions are usually a few extra sentences depending on your choice but it will lead you back to the same plot response so don't expect anything fancy if you haven't read Voltage before. It's also a bonus to know tht no matter what interest you chose, the decisions and stories are not linked and you won't have to worry about relationships between multiple love interests and their opinions on you because of that. I know some people can be intimidated by maintaining relationships, such as myself. Voltage protagonists are often considered a bit annoying or cringey, but I find them endearing personally and sometimes even a bit funny since you get to read the inner monologue from her.
Overall, very easy to read and the first run around with each love interest is a great and really feels like you get to make a connection with the guys! If you haven't read Voltage before, I suggest looking into the mobile app, Love: 365 first because there's a less daunting pricetag on the stories, but you'll get the prologue and first episode of a love interest for free and it will help you find out a bit more if you're willing to pay big bucks for the steam ports. Just keep in mind, if you keep using the phone app you'll need to purchase extra coins per story!!
