Love the story, love the game play. Menu options were not the best; playing on controller was confusing, as someone who has beaten every deck of balatro on my phone and switch i can say this game is only going ot get better.

Good, fun, light roguelite with a cool theme and interesting narrative dialogue between rounds :)

This game is unreasonably addictive, really enjoying unlocking different relics and dice and Death isn't easy to beat so you need em. Even the cut scene bits are great, Death reminds me of Terry Pratchett's Death from the Discworld series. Has instantly replaced Slay the Spire as my go to game. Highly recommend
TL:DR: The core gameplay is solid and enjoyable, but there is definitely work needed at this current stage in early access.
I'll start with the good first and move onto things I feel are weaker areas of the game which could use some love.
Good:

Basic gameplay loop has that addictive Balatro style where it starts of simple and easy to understand but as the mechanics pile on the turns get more interesting and and your brain starts considering all the synergies available. Can be very easy to lose track of time playing this!
Can be some really dopamine inducing combos that you can assemble that make you feel smart when you figure them out.
Lot of replayability in how death builds their deck (this does spill into the bad though some ways).
Art, music and dialogue are all fantastic, they give an eerie vibe and build suspense in a way I didn't expect to from this game but its a welcome Suprise.

Bad (or at least maybe problematic):

The RNG can be problematic at times. Obviously its a dice game, RNG is to be expected, but there is a lot in this game; The rolls, what relics and dice you receive, deaths rolls, deaths relics, trinkets, some of the effects of the relics and dice death steal from you are all things you'll contend with in a normal run. It's a huge amount of variation and as such it can be difficult gauge how well you are doing at any specific point in time during a run. It can also lead to some frustration at times when you just lose out of nowhere in the later rounds. Some setups can feel like "luck with some skill", others can feel like "skill with some luck".
Some of the relics and dice are way more powerful than others, maybe this is inexperience talking but alpha and treasure dice are game changers while things like the anti poison dice can do literally nothing in some playthoughs. This isn't always a bad thing as such, but having things like the anti poison dice in the pool when theres no poison mechanics going on can make them feel like a wasted slot in the pool.
Synergy relics - cool concept, but individually they can be awful - possible to get relics that power up relics without having the prerequisite relics first. Maybe a check is needed before these are offered?
Related to the first point, but its possible (allthough highly unlikely) to essentially be one turn combo'd to death in the later rounds unless there is a mechanic im not aware of stopping it from occuring. Death gets Two lucky dice that he can reroll later on and if they keep forming pairs while his other dice doesnt match them it can create a loop.
Some UI jank and changes needed - Dice can get stacked ontop of each other which can be sometimes annoying, cocked dice where the game decides what number it is without it being rerolled or settled onto one side, and no indicator for what hands actually do to name a few (for example, I know I can make a 4 of a kind or two pair but without clicking on them I'd have no idea which scores better).
I think the core of the game is very solid and the team seem to put out patches very frequently and address feedback so that is a huge plus for the game. I know that I've put a large amount in the "bad" section but I definitely still recommend this game to anyone who enjoys dice games or roguelikes, just with the caveat that there are potential problems to be worked through. I'll continue to update this review when there are changes or when I learn more.

A great dice game, looking forward to updates. While the gameplay is great, there are some nitpicks; -The volume is a bit low, for one, even when boosting the master. -Also, I'm playing this on Steam Deck and controller input could be improved, but it's fine to play with the trackpad. -While I love the art design, the execution of the graphics are a bit grody, for lack of a better term. It would highly benefit from pixel perfect graphics and overall improvement to them. There's just some blurring and distortion that's a bit ugly, and could also use for more contrast to see things better. Overall, great core game, but definitely room for improvement in the other places, looking forward to the full release. I can definitely recommend to fans of dice games.

As of now, I'm not impressed. I think this game has great bones but no meat (pun intended). I hope to change the review in the future, and I won't refund it, as I think it has a lot of potential
