Next to the Age of Charlemagne add-on, this is the culture-pack to get. Having started out either building an army and having revolts on my hands, or trying to remian at peace and having neighbors harrasing me, this was where I should have begun to understand the dynamics of this game. The Picts have got to be one of the best groups since you are buffered by the Caledonians, and a natural ally of the Ebdanians (Oirish), and you get a chance to start working with the politics, technologies and building up a city without getting clobbered consistantly. With very little effort, you can unite with the other two factions and take over all of Britain, and then start hitting the mainland. The mix of combatants is excellent and gives a completly unique feel to the combat possibilities. You can carry on raids, ambushes, sieges while using the seas for hit and run raids, so it's the best of all worlds medieval. Allying with large armies of Caledonians is great, since if you are new you get a feel for the tactics and can make goofy mistakes without losing your army. All in all this culture-pack is like a game within the game, and really is a great learning tool plus a lot of fun if you like crazy units in combat and slash and burn raids.

Guerilla Deployment. Gu er il la Deployment. For all units. ALL. Units. Need any other reason to buy this?

The Celtic Culture pack adds, unlike most culture packs, an entirely new play style and army - you're reliant on your vanguard deployment and war dogs. You lack heavy infantry throughout most of the game, encouraging a dynamic play style, as opposed to say, the Roman testudo wall spam. However, the Celtic Culture pack sucks in terms of start locations - you're bound to the isles. Ebdania, Caledonia and The Picts all have the same early game challenge - take over the isles against the Romans, raid in to Belgica and Gaul for money, and maybe conquer Hispania. There's no variety between playing as any of the Celtic Cultures. Your campaign as Ebdania will be the exact same as Caledonia. Also, the 'cycle of the Ollam-Ri' is so ungodly basic. And frankly, a cultural mockery. It's a Ri Ollam, and it's the title of a teacher, with equal value to the High King of Ireland. It is completely unrelated to the Picts of Caledonians. Frankly, it's a mockery to just take one culture and apply it to the rest, for the sake of 'content'. For a 'culture pack', at least represent the cultures correctly. Do not recommend.

If you can stomach the another $8 pack, this one is by far my personal favorite. All three factions have a fairly large roster, and all three factions are extremely cool. The only downside is that other than the High Kings, the other generals don't have unique celtic style avatars, they just have the typical German avatar. I thought that was kind of dissappointing, but other than that, I really like this pack along with the blood pack.

Should have been in the base game. - Not very unique cultures. They play very similarly to the barbarians that are present in the base game. Plus as with the rest of the culture packs in this game, celtic generals did not get reskinned with their cultural armour/attire. - Few new buildings, new starting positions and new unit roster (complete with the fantasy regular infantry-women). 'Tis alright, but I'd say you should still wait for a sale.

It's nice to see a new unit roster for the celts. It was much needed. + Some cool looking units that make the celts unique. +With the ability to be able to deploy all celtic units outside of the deployment zone with the guerrilla deployment, it makes them feel different to other nations on the game. - I've only found one unit so far not to say the generic barbarian voice and say "Scrappers" or "infanty" when select them. I wish they would say their unit type, like they have in the past with other units. Other than that i think this pack is good. 10/10 would play as the celts. (pls more music)

By far my favourite DLC to come out for total war, disregard what everyone is saying this culture pack stands alone as it allows you to play as 3 different factions that have a far different feel then what was originally attended for the rest of the game and is a game of its own. In this Celtic package you play an alternate role in the side story to Attila total War. Allowing you to raid and plunder the Western Roman Empire with little fear, of Attila’s wrought. I found this game exceptionally fine playing as the Irish this period allowed me to sit back and enjoy a specialised raiding faction at its peak just 200 years short of its golden age. But allowing the player to experience the best of Celtic vengeance. This was by far one of my favourite total war experiences of all time, as I re-expanded a new Celtic Empire, shaped by my own hands. Do not take on the opinions, of people that have not played this DLC and were so quick to judge, fearful that CA were secretly in their cupboards plotting to steal them and their home. I Advise you to go off and make your own opinion of this exceptionally perfect DLC. Which has given me hours of enjoyment.

Quick impressions: +Lots of unique Celtic units. -Same voice-overs as all the vanilla tribes, which I've gotten really sick of (especially during diplomacy).

Hey, CA, since SEGA is making us buy the games we've already bought anyways, do you think you could talk to the brass about maybe having a "True Purchase" Pre-Order option? You know, something at the price of a collectors edition, except instead of all that useless shit you get all the non Expansion DLC free? I mean, if you insist on bleeding us dry, you should at least have the decency to let us get all done up-front.

In my opinion, this is the only culture pack that is worth the buy. The Celtic factions are fun to play with especially with their guerilla deployment for every unit and completely unique unit roster. Unlike all the other culture packs, this one adds a decent amount of new content 7/10
